Sizzix-Doodlebug Framelits Baby Card

Hello Peeps!! I hope your day is going well. Just popping in to show you a baby card I created using Sizzix-Doodlebug Design Framelits Die Cutting Template and Clear Acrylic Stamps Baby Boy set. I think the images are adorable and can be used on a girl card as well as a boy. In fact, I chose to make a tag and card set for a baby girl.

I started by die cutting and stamping two giraffes. I then colored them in using the Copic markers below.

Next I printed out my sentiment on an 8 1/2" by 11" piece of white card stock. If I don't have the right sentiment stamp, I will often print one out on a piece of card stock. I used MS Word and estimated where I wanted the sentiment to go. I then cut out the card front and rounded the edges. My next step was to layer a piece of herringbone embossed paper, the doily, the scallop die cut and one giraffe onto the front. The last piece of the puzzle was to add the hearts. I then thought it needed a little something more so I used diamond Stickles to kick them up a notch.

Isn't it cute? My twelve year old daughter told me I should have only used one exclamation point on the sentiment. "It is not proper grammar Mom." Sigh. She is right but I think it looks adorable.

I then die cut a tag, 3 hearts and a banner out of white paper. I layered the banner over the tag, adhered the giraffe using foam tape over the banner and then adhered the three hearts. Like the card, I used diamond Stickles to add a little something more.

That is all for today. I hope this inspires you to create your own baby set. Have a great day!!

Bazzill Arsenic and Lace Halloween Card

It has been over two months since I have posted anything. Being back to work has killed me, as well as a death in the family. I have had time to make cards and scrap but no time to blog. I envy people that post something every day of the week. How do you do it?

Due to Halloween being this week, I am posting a simple Halloween card I made using patterned paper and a sticker.

First I used a scallop punch on a piece of patterned paper to create the scalloped border and adhered it to a Kraft card stock card base in a diagonal. I then layered 1" strips of two different patterned paper over the black scallop. Next I wrapped twine around the card and tied it into a simple bow. With foam adhesive I then layered a simple sticker over a black scallop die cut circle. To finish the card off I randomly placed enamel dots over the front.

Inside, I stamped a simple Halloween sentiment with a black crow. This card took me all of 10 minutes to create-a record for me!!!

I hope this inspires you to create some cards of your own.

Runway Inspired Challenge #43

Hello Peeps!! Haven't been around much. I started back to work and my creative time has dwindled. It is between exercising and creating right now. Unfortunately exercising has been winning out, though I would much rather be in my craft room!!

Today I am joining in on the Runway Inspired Challenge. The challenge was to use the image below as inspiration to create a card.

Here is the card that I created.

I started off with a white card stock base and stamped a grid pattern with a Prima stamp on the left in gray. (No, I did not stamp straight but I tried to cover it up with the yellow die cut. ShShhh!) Then I cut a 3 1/2" by 5 1/4" piece of black card stock and adhered it to the white base.

I used my Silhouette to die cut a piece of Stampin Up! "Summer Sun" card stock. Next I stamped a circle using an Avery Elle stamp and punched it out with a 1 3/4" circle. I then stamped the sentiment in gray on the circle and the "Sunshine" in orange zest on white card stock and cut it out.

The last thing I did was to layer everything on the card using foam adhesive. I like how it came out BUT I should have fussy cut the "Sunshine" sentiment. I just wanted to finish the card in time!!

Here is a closer look.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and look at my card.

Paper Trey Ink August 2013 Blog Hop

Happy Sunday!! I cannot believe that August is almost over and I have to go back to work on Tuesday!! It has been such a fabulous summer that I don't want it to end.

I was not able to participate in Stamp a faire yesterday because I was away but I did do a card for the Paper Trey Ink August 2013 Blog Hop.

The idea was to choose one of the color schemes and sketches and to make a card. I chose to use the "Fast Food" color scheme for my card inspiration.

I wanted this card to be a simple as possible so I decided to make the stripes in the card by using a mask. I masked off one stripe at a time with removable tape and using an ink pad and an ink dauber, I inked each stripe.

For the scallop, I die cut a border using PTI's "Border Banner Die" and used the negative of the die cut to ink the scallop in "New Leaf" ink. When I was done with the background, I thought the lines were a bit too stiff so I took a water color brush and went over the lines with water.

I then die cut and stamped a sunflower using the "Simple Sunflower" set. I added a bit of linen ink with water on the sunflower to darken it up a bit, as well as added "Simply Chartreuse" ink to the "New Leaf" stamped leaves. I still thought the card was a bit bland so I used a bit of "Simply Chartreuse" re-inker and water to splash over the whole card. The finishing touch was to stamp the sentiment and add some enamel dots.

I did want to point out that I did not have any PTI "Harvest Gold" ink so I substituted Adirondak Butterscotch ink-the closest I had to a gold.

It is an extremely simple card but I am happy with the way it came out.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a fabulous day!!
