A Few Scrapbook Pages

Kind of a lazy Sunday this week. I have been up to my eyeballs in Valentine projects as of late. I think I am done with pink and red for a while!!

I thought I would share a few layouts with you today rather then my usual cards. I had fun using Doodlebug products on the layout below. Here is the link for specific supplies. I am too lazy to go through it all today.

I created this page about my daughter turning thirteen. I am not sure who is going to make it through this age-her or me. I really do not know how my mother did it with four kids, three being girls. I also know I was TOUGH at this age. Char is a lot better then I was but she still is testing limits!!

On my second page, I had fun using sequins around the edge of my photos. I use these all the time on my cards so I thought it would be fun to use on a layout too.

Char is turning eleven in these photos. Notice the glasses and the braces in the first photo? Both are gone! She decided on contacts that summer and her braces came off this past summer. Time sure is flying!!

This last page that I am sharing is not my favorite but it is a memorable moment. The story is all about Char's first Valentine gift from a boy. Of course, I don't have a date on this because I never documented it. Great mother!! I "think" this was from sixth grade? I cannot remember in my old age.

Thanks for visiting today. Have a great night!!

Monthly Moments Trading Card-Paper Trey Ink 7th Anniversary Challenge

I have been having fun lurking through all the Paper Trey Ink blogs for their anniversary festivities this week. Unfortunately today is the first day I get to really play. So disappointing because I LOVE their fun challenges during the month of February.

Today's challenge was to create a Monthly Moment's Trading card. These trading cards are 3" by 4" in size. I had a really, really hard time with this. I do not do Project Life, though I have used some of the products on some of my regular scrapbooking pages. I didn't really want to make a journaling card but rather something that was more decorative. I have been doing a lot of Valentine's so I wanted to stay away from pink or red and anything with hearts in it. So I chose a fall themed card instead.

I decided to use the PTI Polka Dot Pumpkin stamp set and die for this project and to keep it as simple as possible. I stamped the "pumpkin" sentiment using orange zest ink and then the label in new leaf. I then used Jillibean Soup alphabet stickers for the word "patch."

Next I die cut and then stamped the pumpkin, the stem and leaves. Next I decided to use a technique I have been seeing in cards as of late. I twisted some jute through a glue dot and then layered the pumpkin over the jute. Last, I placed Lawn Fawn Sequins around the card.

I am happy with the way it came out and I have to decide whether I want to enter it into the swap or not that they are having in their forum. I would love to send it to someone but would have to make another because I made a mistake on one side and turned it over to stamp on the other side. You can kind of see it in the first photo. I am cheap like that!!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great night!!

Flash Back Friday…a Day Late

What a crazy week this has been!! Snow days, doctors' appointments for both Charlotte and I, minor surgery on Charlotte's ear and a girls night out hosted at my house last night. No wonder I am late with this post!!

I am actually disappointed in myself because I issued the challenge over at Scrapjazz.com. It was to create a card using any OLD supply that you had. It could have been paper, stamps, stickers, etc. To say I am a bit of a "collector" is an understatement. I have a store in my room. So for me, this challenge was quite easy.

I modeled my card over an old Nichole Heady card that I saw on Pinterest. However, I had to make it my own. First, for my OLDEST supply, I used one of the first stamps I ever bought from Stampin Up! (Script-retired) with Kraft ink stamped onto vanilla card stock. I then cut the piece of stamped paper into a 2" by 4 1/4" strip and adhered it onto an Aqua Mist card base. I then cut a few scraps from my drawer into small strips, inked them and adhered them to the card.

Next I cut a 3" by 3" of Kraft card stock and stamped a Mehndi Medallion using Kraft ink. Next I layered images and a sentiment using Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy and Smokey Shadow ink. Using foam adhesive, I then adhered the square to the background card. My last step was to use Diamond Stickles o add a little more zing to the inside of the flowers.

This card is for a dear woman who lost her husband this week to leukemia. It was very unexpected and I have been heart sick over her loss all week. How I detest cancer and cannot believe with all our science we have not figured out a way to prevent it. I know that each case is unique but I can still wish!

Thank you for stopping by today. I will be posting another project momentarily to join in for Paper Trey Ink's seventh anniversary.

Smile card using My Favorite Things

Hello!! I hope you are having a great week. I have been having fun showcasing the cards I had fun making this past weekend. I wish I had more time this week to play but it has been so busy!!

Today I am sharing the last card I created using My Favorite Things "Picture This" sentiment stamp set and their camera dies.

I created the background patterned paper with Ranger Persimmon distress re-inker that I put in a spray bottle and misted onto white card stock. I LOVE how this came out!!

The little Polaroid "photo" was created by using "My Gracious Vases" stamp set from Paper Trey Ink and the polaroid frames from My Favorite Things. Didn't it come out cute?

That is all for this week. I hopefully will get back to crafting this weekend. Have a wonderful Friday!!

My Favorite Things Camera Card

Happy Wednesday!! Today I am sharing a card I created using My Favorite Things dies, "Picture This" stamp set and the PTI stamp set "Fabulous Frames."

I created this card for a friend who is going through a difficult time right now.

I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this card when I started, except that I wanted to use the camera die and the sentiment I chose. The first step was to die cut the camera out of some silver card stock and then the accents out of pink and black. I adhered the accents on the front of the die cut with dot adhesive and adhesive foam. I put that aside and brainstormed what I wanted to do for the rest of the card.

I decided on a white background card measuring 4 1/4" by 5 1/2." I want to write a nice note inside so I wanted to make sure that whatever I used, the inside had to be easy to write on. I then cut a piece of 4" by 5 1/4" piece of patterned heart paper and adhered it to the front.

Next I die cut a Polaroid frame using Paper Trey Ink's "Fabulous Frames" dies and stamped the front with the matching stamp in black ink. I did not realize how messy this would be. I got the ink EVERYWHERE!! I used permanent black ink because that was the only kind I had. I need to get a black ink that isn't so messy. I added the pink polka dots to complete the frame.

The last piece of the puzzle before I assembled the card was to die cut a square and stamp the sentiment. Then I adhered everything together as shown. My last step was to add some Diamond Stickles glitter glue where the flash would be on the camera. Here is a little closer shot of it so you can see a bit more detail.

I am having so much fun with these camera dies and sentiments. I can see myself using this set for a lot of fun cards. In fact, tomorrow I will share one more card that I created this weekend using this set.

Thank you for stopping by!! Have a great night!!
