A mix of WPlus9 Sweets and Treats and some Secretary Cards

Hello all!! I hope this Tuesday is treating you well.

I myself am fabulous but am so looking forward to June 16th, which is the last day of school and work for me for the summer. The kids are getting antsy for it all to be done and some have already checked out. I am ready for nice weather as there really has not been a spring here. Gray days, rain and temps in the 40's to 50's have been the norm. We don't even have full leaves on the trees yet!

Today I am going to show you three cards I created for some co-workers. One is a birthday card for a girl who is just the sweetest thing. She is always so happy and positive. We used to have lunch together every day but her schedule was switched so I don't see her much anymore. I just had to make her a card for her birthday, though.

I used WPlus's Sweets and Treats stamps and dies for this card. I liked the neutral kraft background with the aqua and yellow so I chose to make the card base out of kraft card stock. I embossed around the edge to add a little decorative touch.

The yellow banner is a sticker and it is placed over a piece of aqua washi tape. I die cut a vellum oval as a frame for the cup cake.

I colored the cup cake itself with Copic Markers and added some blue Stickles for the "sprinkles." The top of the flag is a pin that I had that I cut down to a smaller size and stuck under the cupcake.

I LOVE how this card came out and will definitely be using this design again.

The next two cards I made for the two secretaries in our office for Secretaries Day. I created them so that a bunch of us could sign them and give them to the two women with some gifts. I felt bad because we gave them these gifts late because we didn't know when it was.

This first card I stamped the background paper with the pink polka dots. I then layered die cut, stamped images over it. It is very  simple but effective. All stamps, with the exception of one, was from Paper Trey Ink.

I added some sparkle on the heart in the middle of the circle and a few pink sequins for an added touch. I drew in the phone cord but wasn't really loving it. I did something a little bit different for the second card.

I used the exact same card design for the second card but stepped it up a bit. I mixed a few sentiment stamps to create the sentiment. I also used some white covered wire to make the phone cord.

A much cuter look if I do say so myself!!

I apologize for some of the photos. I did an auto color in Photoshop so I could upload the pictures and didn't realize how bad they were. Oops!

Thank you for stopping by!! Have a fabulous day!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Today I am honoring all mothers' out there with two cards I created using WPlus9's "Coming Up Roses" stamp and die set. I personally think that mother's should have more then one day a year to be celebrated. Most of the mother's I know are the HARDEST WORKING people. I hope you all are celebrating this day with lots of pampering and hugs from your loved ones.

I chose to make this card very plain and let the vase with the roses be the focal point. The vase was covered in Glossy Accents to give it a glassy sheen. Using foam adhesive, I then layered die cut, stamped roses and a leaf over the top of it to fill up the bouquet and give it some dimension.

Around the outside I used a score board to emboss a line around the edge for a more decorative look. I really like how this came out but chose to step it up a notch on the second card.

I used an MFT Blueprints die to die cut a piece of white card stock. I then chose to stamp the bouquet on the right side for this card. I used PTI's Avocado ink for the leaves and then took a Copic colorless blending pen and "erased" some of the color to give the leaves a different look. I also used some vellum and the vase from the die set to create the vase above. I inked around it in gray and only adhered it under the layered leaf and a tiny bit on the stem to give it the glassy look.

Before I adhered the card to the yellow card, I flung mist spray onto the top to get the drops of golden yellow all over the card. Some of you might not like this but I actually think it makes the design pop a bit more. I like this card a lot better then the first one.

I thank you for stopping by today. I hope everyone is enjoying your time. Happy Mother's Day!!

Playing along with My Favorite Things Sketch MFTWSC175 Challenge

Long time, no see. I have been happily crafting but not blogging. How I can blog regularly AND craft is a mystery to me. I don't seem to have time to do both and I need to craft for my blog content. The summer is coming so I know it will get better but I think I am going to need to start "scheduling" it in to my day. I have been doing that with working out and it has been going great so why not try with blogging?

Enough about that!! The real reason I am blogging today is to play along with My Favorite Things and their sketch challenge. The card below is what I created.

Here is MFT's sketch:
I stuck pretty close to the sketch but eliminated the two little pink embellishments that sit on each side of the oval focal point. I tried using brads, gems and even sequins but they just didn't look right. I made the executive decision to just leave them off.

I chose to use the My Favorite Things "Sunflower Sweetheart" stamp and die set to create the stamped images in the center of an MFT oval doily. The stamps are colored in with Copic Markers and layered on top of each other using foam adhesive to give them some dimension. I am not sure if you can see from the photo below but I also used Wink of Stella on the middles of the flowers to give them a bit of sparkle.

I created a frame around the layered stamps by die cutting the middle out of the doily. I then stitched it with jute twine. I like the way it came out but I think I would layer a couple die cut doilies on top of each other before I stitched to make it a bit sturdier. I could not pull the twine as tight as I would have liked.  At the end of the stitching, I tied a bow and added a button. I wasn't sure how I was going to adhere the frame to the card as the stitching stuck out from the back. I wound up using glue dots and they are holding well.

I hope you like my card. I love how it came out and intend to make more based on this sketch at a later date.

I am also entering this card into Virginia's "Stitched" Challenge. If you haven't ever been over to her blog, run! It is fantastic!!

I LOVE this new challenge blog and I chose to use this doily just so I could stitch around the edge!

Thank you for visiting. Have a great night!!
