CASE this Sketch #140, another Virginia's View Entry and another card entry for the Superstar Card Contest

Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you all had a nice weekend.

My weekend was pretty quiet. Chris and I did go out for dinner both Friday and Saturday night. Nothing earth shattering but nice to get out of the house.

Today I walked down to an art fair with my neighbor that the town has every year. I love to look at the art and read the artists' biographies they have in their booths. I could not imagine doing what they do for a living. What if no one walked in and looked? What if I sold nothing the whole weekend? Some of the stuff was pricey so that could be the case and I always feel bad. It also looked like there were not a ton of people browsing and less exhibitors this year. I love going to this every year and I would be sad if this went away.

Today I am sharing my card that I created for CASE this Sketch #140. I used the MFT "Trendy Triangle" set again that I used for this card.

Here is the sketch that inspired this card.

At first when I saw this, I  thought I would either use some washi tape or some watercolor to create the stripes. Then when I saw the scraps of my previous paper on my desk, I had an "Aha!" moment. So I die cut a piece of "washi" from the scrap using an MFT Blueprints die.

I then pulled out my triangle stamps and my MISTI and stamped various rectangles in green, aqua and black. Next I added a piece of sparkle tape in the same blue, attached the home made "washi" and adhered a heat embossed sentiment using foam adhesive.

To add even a little bit more interest, I adhered three sequins in different sizes. I thought I was done but the card looked unbalanced. I stamped the bottom too low. (Why I NEVER do one layer cards!!) I balanced it out by stamping one large triangle in green at the top.

Since this is using a graphic style again, I am entering this into Virginia's View Challenge #18: Geometric Patterns.

I am also entering this into the "Card Design Superstar" contest at My Favorite Things.

I thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful night.

NBUS, Runway Inspired Challenge #91, Virginia's View Challenge #18, Card Design Superstar, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Use a Stamp

Happy Hump Day!! This week is FLYING by and I have had a great day. My work day flew by with no bumps, had a great work out and now am in my craft room. What more can I ask for a weekday?

Today I have created a card that I am entering into FIVE challenges. My original inspiration was for the Runway Inspired Challenge #91 and Virginia's View Challenge #18. In fact, they went hand in hand for my creation of the card below.

The color scheme was inspired by the Runway Challenge. Here is the inspiration piece by Michael Kors:

Not only did the color scheme inspire me but it went right along with Virginia's View Challenge to use a geometric as the star of the card.

Now I have had these triangle stamps from My Favorite Things for at least a year. It was one of those purchases that I was excited about and when I got them, I had buyers remorse. Don't get me wrong, I think they are cool but I do not make "graphic" cards. I knew they would be perfect for this challenge so I pulled them out and did a little experimenting.

The first thing I did was to use Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink and blended it onto a piece of white card stock. I then used the triangle stamps and RANDOMLY (and I cannot stress this enough!) stamped the shapes with black ink over the blended background. I should have taken a photo of the whole panel because it looked so cool but I just wanted to make the card and not worry about taking pictures.

I was originally going to try to use the whole panel but it was just too busy for me. Instead, I decided to cut it on a diagonal. I broke it up with a lot of white space on the bottom and a tiny strip of black below the stamped panel to kind of "pop" it.

I then stamped the sentiment. I used a bit of masking to stamp it in two different colors. It really helped that I had my MISTI because I would have never gotten that straight!! I then adhered three sequins to match the colors at the top around the sentiment. I then used Stickles in the same colors on top of the sequins. Easy peasy!!

I have enough of that stamped panel to make another card similar to this. I wanted to get this on the blog so I will be making that later.

I am also entering this into Darnell's NBUS challenge, since these triangle stamps were never used and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Use a Stamp.

Last but not least, I am entering this into My Favorite Things "You Could Be a Superstar" contest.

I am never one to enter these kind of contests because there are so many fabulous designers out there that I cannot live up to. However, I figured why not? You cannot win if you don't play so I am throwing my hat into the ring. It has made me look at my stamps in a totally new way!

I thank you for stopping by tonight. Have a great Thursday!!
