Saturday with My Favorite Things

Hello friends!! It is Saturday here in blog land. I meant to be a better blogger and crafter this year but this first week back to work after the holidays KICKED MY BUTT!!! Between shuttling Charlotte around for her activities, getting back to a gym routine and doctor appointments, by the time I got home and ate dinner, all I felt like doing was stumbling to the couch and relaxing in front of the television. I don't know how all of you keep up your crafting with your hectic schedules!!

Today I am sharing two cards with you that I created last week but was too tired to post.

I created the first with the other two sympathy cards I made last week using My Favorite Things "Fall Florals" stamp and die set. Once again I utilized purple and gray as my color scheme.

I created the background by stamping the "Etched Flower" stamp in white. I love how it looks on the purple. Not too bright but enough to be seen!!

I added silver Stickles on top of my silver sequins to give a touch of shine to this card.

On a different note, here is another card I created last weekend using the "Hug in a Mug" stamp and die set from My Favorite Things.

I cannot tell you how happy this card makes me!!! I stamped the background with the "Canvas" stamp by Hero Arts in gray. I blended Vintage Photo ink on the whip cream and then misted it with water to get the look I wanted.

Now I am craving some hot chocolate!!

Thank you for stopping by!! Have a great day!!

Freshly Made Sketches #217

I cannot believe this is the last day of my vacation and I am back to work tomorrow. I wish my work days went as fast as my vacations days seem to go by. I could use a few more days off but by myself. Am I the only mother who feels this way?

Today I am sharing a card that I created for Freshly Made Sketches #217. The deadline is tomorrow and you would think that I would have uploaded it sooner then today. However, last minute Lucy is better then nothing at all.

I created this card with the "mess on my desk." I did a lot of stamping, die cutting and coloring before the holidays, thinking I would use them to make some projects. I never did. So I decided to use a few things I had on hand to create my card below.

Here is the Freshly Made Sketch #217 that I used to create this card:
I started off by inking the edges of a vanilla/cream card base with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I then adhered a die cut piece of Basic Grey patterned paper over it. Next I adhered a die cut mug from My Favorite Things "Hug in a Mug" die-namics set.

I added the sentiment and the marshmallows on the front of the card with foam adhesive. The last step was to use Glossy Accents to give the "hot chocolate" a more realistic look. I think I am going to send this card off with a gift card to Starbucks or Duncan Donuts a little later this month. I am also toying with making a bunch of different "event" cards and giving them as Valentine gifts. I don't have to make a set of cards all matching, do I?

I thank you for stopping by tonight. Have a fantastic night.
