Freshly Made Sketches #222, PaperTrey Ink Inspiration Card Challenge and some snow!!

Happy Saturday everyone!! It has not been a fun twenty four hours here at my house. It started off well and good with a snow day yesterday. I got up early and did tons of laundry and spent some time in my craft room. At about 2:30 p.m., the power went off....and did not come back on until 12:30 p.m. today. It was quite a chilly night last night!! We do have a portable generator but the fumes made me sick because it was a bit too near the house, so we did not have it on all night.

Then while I was brushing my teeth this morning, I knocked the electric tooth brush charger into the toilet. Don't ask me how this happened but it did. Not sure how I will be charging my tooth brush but thinking I will be brushing old school. My dentist won't be happy as that electric toothbrush has given me some good check ups. It makes my teeth shine!!

Anyway, BEFORE all this happened, I was able to make a card using Freshly Made Sketches #222 and the PaperTrey Ink Inspiration Color Challenge. PaperTrey is having their 9th Anniversary celebration and having some fabulous challenges. Be sure to check it out!! Here is my card:

I chose Kay Miller's card and tried to "channel" her as she is a FABULOUS designer. It did not come out exactly as I pictured it but I like it.

Here is the sketch and the color card that inspired this card:

I started the card off by using Orange Zest and Summer Sunrise ink as watercolor. Kay often uses water coloring on her cards and tends to use the most fabulous colors. I was inspired by her stunning backgrounds so I decided to give it a try.

I then die cut the panel when the ink was dry and mounted it onto a Raspberry Fizz patterned paper card base.

I then added an Orange Zest border that I die cut using PTI's "Journal Card Border Dies" and a frame in Summer Sunrise that I die cut using the PTI frame die.

I then stamped and die cut flowers using PaperTrey's "One Big Happy" limited edition stamp and die collection using Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Sweet Blush and Simply Chartreuse dye ink. I also die cut the "happy" sentiment out of black paper to add over the frame.

I adhered the flowers and the pink sentiment strip using foam adhesive. I then added the three clear sequins using matte adhesive.

My last step was to use clear Wink of Stella over the orange and yellow flower centers.

I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Have a great night!!

Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #3 Part Two-Happy Birthday!

Hello everyone!! It is Nora here. Today I am sharing another card I created using Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #3. I LOVE this challenge card so much!! Remember in my first post how I said that I was going to create more cards using this card? Well I did!!

For my card, I used the bottom row across and included the elements stitchingflowers and used the sketch that was provided.

When I first saw this challenge, I KNEW right away I was going to have to make a card including this awesome sketch. However, as I always do, I interpreted it a little differently. First, I flipped the sketch:

I then eliminated the patterned paper around it. I LOVE sketches because you can do things like this to make it your own. The card below was what I came up with.

For the "stitching," I used a cross stitched heart embossing folder AND a piece of patterned paper that had stitched flowers over it.

For the sentiment focal point, I used die cut flowers and leaves from Lawn Fawn. I stamped and die cut a label from PaperTrey Ink and then stamped a sentiment from Mama Elephant over the top.

The flowers were adhered to the card using foam adhesive and covered in clear Wink of Stella to add a bit of shimmer. I also added some green pearls around them for added interest.

I cannot tell you how happy I am with this card. I cannot wait to send it out!! You have a couple more days before the challenge closes. Please add your to the original Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #3 blog post to play along.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a fabulous day!!

Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #3-Love You Card

Hi everyone!! Happy Monday!! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!!

It is a new start to the work week and what better way to relax after a long day but to play with us over at Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge Blog. Challenge #3 was posted today and I think this is my favorite one yet!!!

To create my card, I used the first row across-love, add shimmer and hearts. I actually had TONS of ideas rolling around in my head for this one. I decided right off the bat that I was going to use an embossed background. I took out all my Valentine/love embossing folders and created four different backgrounds using white card stock. I also gathered the many scraps I had on my desk to see what I could do with them.

It is a little messy, yes? That is how my room is these days. Either I have time to create or clean. I have been choosing to create and that means my room has been very neglected!! Anyway, here is the card I created:

I die cut the embossed heart panel using My Favorite Things BluePrints #13 and adhered it to my card front. I then cut the piece of American Craft patterned paper scrap to the size I wanted and rounded the edges. I adhered it to the card and then added a piece of white card stock scrap that fit EXACTLY how I wanted it across the top-no trimming at all!!

I die cut the "love" out of gold shimmer paper using a Paper Smooches die. I then stamped the "you" using Mama Elephant's "Happy Everything"  stamp set. I actually had to mask it because it did have a "for" before the "you" and I did not want that. I then used a scrap of the gold to make a mat for the the stamped sentiment.

I adhered the sentiment onto the card front and moved on to embellishing. I added the white heart that was on my desk to the card with foam adhesive and colored it with clear Wink of Stella. I then adhered a few sequins in gold and white. I apologize for the white sequins looking pink but they are iridescent and they were hard to photograph.

I am so with HAPPY how this card came out and have a few other cards already planned out in my head for this challenge. I hope that you come on over and join us at Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge. I cannot wait to see what you all come up with!!

Have a fabulous week!!
