Prom Shopping and CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge #218

It is Good Friday in the United States and it is the last day of my vacation. Today I went shopping for a prom dress with Charlotte. We fortunately found one in the first place we went to. It is a small place called Red Door Boutique that is about twenty minutes from my house.

I loved this shop because you made an appointment with a stylist and she was the one who went into the room with Charlotte to dress her. It made it much easier on me. I just sat on a couch waiting for her to come out and model it. The next best thing would have been a cocktail for the parents while waiting!!

Charlotte picked the green on the right for her dress. I do have photos of HER but will wait to post when she ACTUALLY goes to prom and is all dolled up. My daughter is more of a tom-boy in the way she dresses so getting her to wear a dress is a miracle in itself.

On another note, I have been attempting to get my craft room in order this week. It is slow going and part of me cleaning up is using up stamped/colored images I have on my desk. I don't want to start using new supplies until I use the old up that I worked so hard on-KWIM?

Today I am sharing a card I created for the CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge #218. I mixed images from My Favorite Things "Happy Hedgehog" set and a few other random sets to finish off my card.

Here is the sketch that I used to create the card:

I actually flipped the sketch a bit to make it how I wanted it to be. I am hoping that this it will be okay to still enter but I am going to try!! I also chose to emboss an area with my score board straight across the top in lieu of adding a piece of patterned paper.

I used Copic Markers in B0000 and B000 for the sky in the background. I just flicked across the panel many times, not worrying if it was perfect. I wanted a bit of white to show through like clouds. For the grass, I used a flicking motion with markers YG01, YG03 and YG05.

Instead of the square on the sketch I chose to include a speech balloon with the sentiment and the addition of a die cut heart.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Have a fabulous day!!

Congratulations Card for CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

Hello everyone!! Happy Hump Day!!

Today it is my turn for some CAS-ual Fridays Stamps inspiration. I used two of the new stamp sets from the March release to created a Congratulations card.

I started off by stamping a border using the "Modern Petals" stamp set with oxide ink on black card stock. I spritzed a bit of water onto the the card and then used a heat tool to dry it. I did not get the effect that I wanted so I then used white and silver mist and basically threw it over the card front.

While that was drying, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the "So Pretty" stamp set on a white card stock strip.

I then mounted it over a piece of silver Washi tape on the top of the black card front using foam adhesive.

My last step was to add a star that I had on my desk that was cut out using the CAS-ual Fridays "Fun-Fetti Fri-dies." I have to say that lately, this die set has been my favorite for little additions to my cards!!

I added a few dots of silver glitter glue to finish the card off. While the oxide treatment didn't go as planned, I like the way the card came out. I have a particular friend that has some great stuff going for him lately and I want him to know how happy I am for him.

All the new stamps can be found at the CAS-ual Fridays Stamp Store. Use my code nora2017 to get 15% off your next order!!

I thank you for stopping by today. Have a FABULOUS day!!!

Split Coloring Cards

Hello everyone!! Today I am sharing four cards that I created using Jennifer McGuire's "Split Coloring" technique. When I saw this video I knew I had to try it. Making two cards out of one? Yes please!!

I created these cards a couple weeks ago but just never got around to posting them.

I actually pulled out some stamps that I have not used for both of these cards. The first one I used WPlus9's "Beautiful Bouquet: Dahlia" stamp set. Jennifer showed cards done landscape style but I did not have the beautiful stamp set she used so I made my first two cards portrait length.

I colored the blooms in with Copic Markers and used Stampin Up! "Coastal Cabana" (retired) card stock as the opposite panel to stamp in a similar colored ink.

The sentiment used on this card is from My Favorite Things "Deepest Sympathy" stamp set.

I highlighted the flower with a little Copic Opaque White and a paint brush.

This sentiment is from Altenew's "Beautiful Quotes" stamp set and is one of my favorite sentiment sets as of late.

I love the embossed gold with the card stock color too!!

My second two cards, I used Altenew's "Beautiful Day" stamp set and my MISTI to create a flower display landscape style. This was kind of a pain because I had to do a ton of masking. However, it was all worth it!!

I actually created the tag from this post AFTER I created these. I figured I would make a few more to give away as a set.

I chose to use the same color of card stock as the first set, as well as the same sentiments.

I did color the main flowers in a different color but chose to color the accent flowers in similar colors as the accent colors in my first two cards.

This was not only FUN to make but I got to practice my shading on the big flower. There are so many layers to it that it looks so cool in real life!!

I chose to use the same sentiments as the first cards to make it a bit easier on myself. It seems that I can never have too many sympathy cards in my stash. I guess that is the age I am at.

Well, that is all for today. I thank you for stopping by and taking a look. Have a FABULOUS day!
