Happy Mother's Day, CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #221, AAA Cards #90: Embossing, Color Throwdown 442 and a Tag for Tag You're It Challenge! #71

Happy Mother's Day everyone!! I hope you are all being treated like royalty!

Our day is low key, which is what I like. I had a really rough week so just being home with my family feels good to me.

I went to the gym and met all my calorie goals for the day-just in time to eat the luscious chocolate cake Chris made for me!! I cannot wait until after dinner!

Charlotte typed me up the nicest note and gave me a tea thermos for work, along with a gift card to buy some tea. I am drinking different loose leaf, non sweetened brewed iced teas as of late. Feel free to make any recommendations as I have not found one I love right now.

Yesterday I created two projects for some challenges. It was a rainy day, perfect for organizing and playing in my craft room. I even used some NBUS, Darnell's acronym for "Never Been Used Shtuff," which I have a TON sitting on my desk right now!!

The first is a card I created using a faux watercolor technique with my Tombow Markers and an MFT butterfly.

CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #221 was the inspiration for the layout design, Color Throwdown Challenge 442 was the inspiration for the colors and this card also goes along with AAA Cards: CAS Game #90: Embossing.

I started off by coloring in the different layers of stamps with Tombow markers, squirting with water and then stamping on watercolor card stock. I used a heat gun between each layer to dry the wet marker. I also used a paintbrush to add additional ink to places I thought the butterfly needed.

I used ink pads in the same color as the markers to make the splatters. I then die cut the panel into a rectangle and stamped a sentiment from Altenew with gray ink.

I used foam adhesive to layer the butterfly over a decorated A2, top folding card base. I had used a stencil to add some polka dots onto the yellow the background and embossed a blue panel to match the blue in the butterfly (which looks kind of green mixed with the yellow) but is blue.

I added a few sequins in matching colors and covered the butterfly with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Marker as the finishing touch. I love how this came out and want to try using some other mediums to makes some framed "art" for some special people in my life.

For my next project, I made a tag to play along with the "Tag You're It Challenge! #71"

I used the Hero Arts "Layered Poppy" stamp for the flowers and the stems/leaves/buds. I added some Tombow marker on the leaves and the buds to give them a little dimension.

Here was the inspiration tag.

The poppies were inspired by the red tulips and my red "sorry" sentiment was inspired by the hello from the inspiration tag.

I used a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen over the poppies and the "sorry" sentiment to give it some shine.

I added red and sheer ribbon at the top like the inspiration piece. I LOVE how this came out an will be using this tag on a card in the future.

That is all from me today. Here is to a fabulous week!! I am hoping mine is better then last week or I am in trouble.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Your comments are always welcome!!

ScrapJazz Card Kit Saturday!

It is a dreary Saturday in the east and I am doing a bit of organizing today. I am also getting some Happy Mail ready for some friends that I have been meaning to send for a while now. I am so great at MAKING cards but never send them. Am I the only one like that?

Today I am posting the cards I created using the Scrapjazz April Card Kit that my friend Rosey created for us.

I created six cards wit this kit and mainly used the kit. I did do a bit of coloring, though, which was fun. I had all these completed last weekend but as it goes, I did not photograph them.

I cannot pick a favorite from this bunch because each is unique unto its own. I also was pretty simple with the design so I could make as many cards as I did. I still have a ton left over to make more later on!!

In other news, Charlotte got about 7 inches cut from her hair last week. After the prom, she wanted a fresh cut that would be cooler in the summer.

I cannot tell you how long it has been since she had her hair cut this short!! Her hair is naturally curly so when it is not straightened like it is here, it is very short. Charlotte straightens here hair every day and wanted to make it easy on herself time wise. (oh and here hair is even-this photo is not straight!!)

That is all from me today. I thank you for stopping by!!

A Round of Applause Card Using CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you all had a fabulous week!

Today it is my turn on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog and I created a simple card, making a sentiment panel using a few different stamp sets.

To complete my card, I used CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Bravo," "Mon Ami," and "Daisy Chain" stamp sets.

To start my card, I used an ink blending tool to blend persimmon ink onto an A2 sized card front. Then I flicked some gold color shine over the top and blew it dry with a heat gun. Usually I let this air dry but I have figured out that heating it dry actually seems to bring out the shine a bit better.

I put the background aside to stamp the sentiment panel. First I stamped the "applause" sentiment from "Bravo" using persimmon ink onto white card stock. I then layered the "round of" above it using coral ink. I was going to leave this and make the panel smaller but decided to go through my CAS-ual Fridays Stamp sets to see what I could find to use. The "my friend" sentiment from "Mon Ami" jumped out at me because it was so different from the fonts of the first two sentiments.

Next I stamped a border from the "Daisy Chain" in coral ink, die cut the panel and tied some gold thread around the top. I mounted the panel onto the card front using foam adhesive. My last step was to add a gold die cut star that I had cut out of gold card stock using the "Fun-Fetti Fri-dies."
