Same Die, Four Different Cards

Happy Saturday!! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I am here with some cards I created using a new to me die that I bought in December but have not used. The dreary weather we have been having made me pull it out and play with it. Instead of making my one card I made four cards.

I used the Simon Says Stamp Sweet Tulip Die as my main inspiration. Then I did a couple of challenges to help me along.

My first card I created a birthday card.

I did some ink blending for the ombre behind the flower and then layered three die cuts to  give the flower some dimension.

I stamped a sentiment from Memory Box's Best Life Typewriter Sentiments in black and die cut it using a PaperTrey Ink die.

I am entering this card in the Just Us Girls Challenge #476, which is a photo of an amethyst, hence the purple theme of my card.

My next card I created another purple card using the same die but die cut from black paper.

This card was really simple. I die cut a piece of pattern paper and adhered it to a Neenah Solar White, A2 card base. I then stamped the sentiment over the top.

I added the flower and covered it in Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss.

I finished it off with some purple gems

My next two cards are a pink color and I am entering them into the Flower Challenge #29-Use Your Latest Stamps and Dies.

For my first pink card, I die cut the flower out of black and colored some of the pieces from the flower on my first card that I didn't use. I wanted ti give it a stained glass look

I then adhered them over a top folding, A2 pink card base that had a white die cut panel already on top.

Next I covered the flower with Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss and added a sentiment from Altenew's Label Love.

To complete the card I added some pink confetti and a pink gem.

My next pink card was kind of a fluke. Again, I used Copic Markers to color in the inside of the flower.

I then adhered it to a card front that had some pink and kraft cardstock on top. I chose to leave out the background and let the kraft show through the back.

Again, I added some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss over the pink and green in the flower and then covered it with Ranger's Glossy Accents.

That is all from me today. I thank you for stopping by and will be here on the blog tomorrow with some other challenge cards I hope to create tonight.

Turning Fifty and a Card for a few Challenges

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a FABULOUS Sunday.

This weekend has been eventful. On Friday I turned fifty.

I have to admit that this has not hit me well. I don't mind the wisdom that comes with age but I do not like the puffiness under the eyes, the crows feet or the forehead wrinkles. I can die the gray out but I cannot fix my slowing metabolism or how I want to still dress like I am younger than I am.

That said, I was pleasantly surprised by my day this year because I knew my husband would not be home to celebrate it. My day started with cupcakes made by one of my co-workers and a rendition of Happy Birthday with a lap dance by one of my crazy friends. (She is a hoot!!)

I received a TON of texts and when I got home, I had an edible arrangement on my door step from my best friend.

I then went to get a pedicure and it was so relaxing!! My husband came home a bit early from his meeting and we had cake that he had made me the night before. So the moral of the story is, my birthday was so much better then I thought it would be. I don't know what the rest of the year will hold but the actual day was pretty darn good!!

Now on to why I am REALLY posting today. I created a card for a couple of challenges. My inspiration was the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #375 and this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-black/white/ and one other color.

Below is the card I created:

To be honest, this was NOT how I wanted this to turn out. I originally was going to keep the color scheme primarily white, with a touch of pink and black on the sentiment strip. HOWEVER, as things go, I messed the design up totally by adding the pink mist.

I was doing really well until I decided to actually spray it on rather then take the spray part on and use the bottom of it to "throw" it on my card like I usually do. Instead of throwing it away, I added some Tonic Clear Sparkle Marker over the top of the rose so it was visible.

Sometimes you have to make do with what you have so here it is!!

I appreciate you stopping by today. Have a GREAT night!!

Day 5 of the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge and Something for the Flower Challenge

Hi everyone!! Just a quick pop in. Not feeling well and had to leave work early today. Went to the MD to get a flu test but alas, it is just a virus that has been kicking my butt since Friday!!

I slept all afternoon and had a quick chance to play tonight to make a card for a couple of challenges.

I bought the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers 2 set and had yet to ink it so I decided to create a simple birthday card.

I started the card by stamping the largest flower cluster in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with Ranger Superfine Gold Embossing Powder.

I then pulled out these really old paints I had called Radiant Pearls in Pink, Passion Flower, Sour Lemon and Bitter Apple and painted the flowers. It is difficult to tell by the photo but these paints have a sparkle and shine to them, like they had an overlay of Clear Shimmer.

I actually originally was going to make a one layer card with this BUT some mistakes happened and I had to cut down the stamped panel. Somehow the yellow got on my hands and there were little (and big) spots all over the white!! You can see some tiny spots on the panel I used but I didn't think it was that bad with the overall design so I went with it.

Well, that is all from me today. I tuckered myself out and need to get back to bed!!

I am entering this into the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge and the Flower Challenge #29-using your latest stamps and dies. I know I will be doing another Flower Challenge post later on because I have a TON I have not used as of late and just received more in the mail on Saturday!!

I thank you for taking the time to stop by!! Have a GREAT night!!

Happy Sunday and Some Challenge Entries

Happy Sunday!! I am sure you are all getting ready for the Super Bowl as I type this. Even though the Patriots are one of the teams, I am not so into football so I plan to be crafting tonight. Chris is on a business trip to Texas so I am all by myself.

Haven't posted much but not because I have not been crafting. Had  situation with my dog last week. He ate a BAG AND A HALF of chocolates that were on my craft room floor. (don't ask-my bad-they had been there for over a week too and he had not touched them) He was mad because I kicked him out of our bed. We had to bring him to the emergency vet last Thursday, where he stayed overnight for some IV care. Zack seemed fine when I picked him up Friday. Then Saturday morning he was not putting weight on his front, left paw so I had to bring him to the normal vet for x-rays. Only thing wrong was his arthritis. So we pretty much spent $1300 on him in three days which adds up to a weekend away somewhere. Darn dog!!

I had some time to play this weekend with some challenges. The first card I created with two photos as my inspiration and used a sketch from January to make my card.

I started off my card by using the Echo Park "Falling For You" stencil with Ranger Candied Apple Distress Ink on a Neenah white 4" by 5 1/4" card base. I then added it to a top folding, A2 card base.

I added two panels of red scrap patterned scrap paper over the stenciled background and then added some Hello Bluebird images (the bird is from "Pig Day" and the elephant from "Puddle Play") that I had colored in using Copic Markers for the Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge.

I added some CAS-ual Fridays "Fun-Fetti Fri-Diecut hearts, that I covered in Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss and Glossy Accents. I popped the sentiment on from My Favorite Things "Bitty Bears" set last.

I ADORE how this card came out and want to make a few more of these for my stash for Valentine's Day.

I was inspired by the plate of red hearts in Time Out Challenge #128 inspiration photo, and the red heart picture in the Inspired By Challenge photo for my card. I used a January sketch Freshly Made Sketches #368 for the actual card layout.

For my second card, I used a sketch from last weeks CASE this Sketch as my jumping off point for another Valentine.

I started off by blending Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar Distress Ink on an A2 Neenah White, top folding card base. I spritzed some water on top, dabbing it off to create some texture on the card front. Again, I stenciled hearts in Candied Apple Distress ink using Echo Park's Falling For You Stencil.  This is my NEW favorite stencil, I think!!

Next I added a sentiment using Lawn Fawn's "Cole's Alphabet" dies, replacing the "O" with a little pig from Hello Bluebird's "Farmyard Little Bits" stamp set. The letters were all die cut from paper scraps I had, and the pig was colored in with Copic Markers.

My last step was to add several moonshine sequins, dabbing some Diamond Stickles in the middle to cover up the holes and the card was complete.

I am entering this card into Sunday Stamps #197 Color Challenge, Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge "Love is In the Air," and Just Us Girls Challenge Word Week #473: Love.

That is all from me today. I hope you all have a FABULOUS night. Thank you for stopping by!!
