Altenew Pair a Flower Contest and an entry for JUGs Challenge

Hello everyone!! It is Tuesday here in blog land.

As I am writing this, it is Sunday and the wind is whipping and the rain is coming down in droves. Tropical storm in Connecticut!! Happy that Henri went west as we have not had a real hurricane in 30 years and I am happy to keep it that way!!

On to my card!! I created this card for some challenges, the first being the Altenew Pair a Flower Contest. I knew what I was going to do when I saw the challenge but it took me a while to get it done.

The challenge was to make a card using one of Altenew's flower stamps and a photo of the flower as your inspiration. I chose to use the Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Clematis Josephine and paired it with a photo from my garden. While I don't have the same kind of Clematis as the stamp, I tried to watercolor the image as well as I could to match the picture.

I went out of my comfort zone a bit on this and heat embossed the flower with white embossing powder and then used Hero Arts Soft Pink ink to watercolor my flower. I am NOT a great painter and often get impatient. I tend to over paint to the point where I wear away the paper. I was successful in not doing this to my card.

My leaves were done with a combination of Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. I also splattered all the ink colors on the background, as well as used a bit of Tarnished Brass Distress Stain. I used the brass because I knew I wanted a gold sentiment and do not have a great gold  mist. Any recommendations would be welcome!!

The sentiment was done using Versamark ink and heat embossing with Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder. I actually used a sentiment from the Clematis Josephine set, something that I NEVER do. I usually just go into my random sentiment box and pull one. I liked what this said, though, and thought it appropriate for my card.

The center of my flower was done using Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink.

I am SO HAPPY with the way this turned out!! I am also going to enter this into this weeks Just Us Girls Challenge-#598-Colorweek. It was to use the colors Yellow, Pink and Green on a card. Again, I am also entering this into the Altenew Pair a Flower Contest.

That is all from me today. I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!!

Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #526-Take Flight

Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you all are having a fabulous September!!!

Today I am on the blog with a card that I created for this Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #526-Take Flight.

This challenge was really fun and I had to think outside of the box on what products to use because I own no stamps or dies with planes. I could have used other things but I really wanted to use a plane. I looked through some scrapbook supplies I had and found one in a Pink Paislee ephemera pack.

The acrylic element was perfect because it used some of the same bright colors that are on the  image badge. I was so excited that I had found something!!

I paired my plane with the Waffle Flower *Outlined Clouds die. I used both the positive and negative parts of this fun die on my card. I popped a few of the clouds up with *foam adhesive and others I adhered flat.

I added some *Diamond Stickles over some of the clouds too for a bit of emphasis.

I did not have the size I wanted for my sentiments so I created my own with my computer. I then adhered them over my clouds. I am quite happy with how this card came out.

That is all for me today. Head over to the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge Blog to see the creations the other members of our design team created. I hope you decide to make your own card for this fun challenge. I cannot wait to see what you create!!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!

Happy Sunday everyone!! Tomorrow is the first day I go back after summer break. I so don't want to!! I will be honest, I am a bit nervous due to the Delta variant going around. We will be starting off again with masks in school but not the social distancing in the classrooms. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it goes as well as it did in the spring.

Today I am over on the CAS-ual Fridays Blog with a card I created by looking at my supplies in a different way.

Can you guess what product in the CAS-Friday Shop that I created these butterflies from??? Hop on over to my BLOG POST to find out!!!

I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Have a FABULOUS day!!

A Card for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #525

Hello everyone!! It is week two for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog #525 with a color challenge. Have you played yet? The colors that you need to use are aqua, red and brown.

This week I created a card with a little scene.

I stamped this mouse using Colorado Craft Company's *Spoonful of Sugar stamp using Copic friendly Memento *Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored my scene in with my Copic markers.

I masked off my mouse and sugar bowl using a post it note and shaded the background "sky" in using *Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

I die cut the panel with a Papertrey Ink border die and again, using a Lawn Fawn *Stitched Rectangle die. I also die cut a border from pattern paper and adhered it under the stitched curve.

I then adhered the scene to an A2, top folding, red card base and stamped the sentiment from *Spoonful of Sugar. My last step was to adhere some sugar cubes around the bowl and cover all of them with *Diamond Stickles.

I absolutely ADORE how this came out!! I think I am going to be purchasing some more of these little mice in the near future.

Please hop on over to the Cupcake Challenge Inspiration Blog to see some other amazing cards by our design team. I hope you play along with us this week. I cannot wait to see what you make!!!

Happy Sunday with a Couple of Cards

Hello everyone!! Just popping in with a couple of cards that I created this weekend.

I had to get all my creative fun in as we are taking my daughter to DC this week to set up her new apartment. She will be a SENIOR!!! The time went by so fast!!!

Since our dogs are crazy, we are having a house sitter come for the week. Thank goodness for family!!

My first card I created with inspiration from some challenges.

I used some new Pinkfresh Studio products for this. I bought the Happy Blooms Stamps, Dies and matching stencils. They were so FUN to use!!!

The two challenges that inspired me to create this card are Freshly Made Sketches #498, the Color Hues Challenge #23-use Pink and Yellow and The Flower Challenge #59-use dies. Of course I was late with Color Hues!!

I used a stencil and Twisted Citron Distress Ink to create the foliage in the frame. The frame I die cut using Pinkfresh Studios Braided Oval

My sentiment is from my sentiment strip stash. I added some gold pearls randomly around the card.

The colors I used for the stencil are Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Kitsch Flamingo and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

For my next card I used Simple Stories Simple Vintage Lemon Twist Paper and ephemera.

I started by using Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Ink to ink the edges of my white A2 Neenah White cardstock.

I took pieces of ephemera to embellish the card.

I added a sentiment I created on my computer. I just LOVE this paper set and had so much fun making my card!!

Well that is all for today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by today!!
