Paper Smooches Free Spirits Cards

I had a lot of free time on my hands last weekend and so decided to sit down and make some cards. However, when I did, I found out that I had lost my mojo!!! This led me to go through my Pinterest card board and copy a card from there.

When I saw this card by Kim S., I knew I had to get the Paper Smooches Free Spirit stamp set. I knew there were so many cute cards I could make. I decided that since I loved her card so much that I would see what I could do to recreate it. Here is my take on it:

Of course since I had to make the card my own so I added a piece of black scalloped card stock behind the stamped image, changed out the black bow for a silver one and instead of using sequins, I used rhinestones. I also did not have her cool stamp she used for a shadow so I had to make my own. I like how it came out that I made two!

I just changed up where I put the rhinestones for this card and the embossing was more precise. Aren't they cute? I did not put anything on the inside at this point but am chewing on what type of sentiment could go inside. Any suggestions?

After I created these, my juices were flowing so I decided to make a birthday card for my brother with the same set but using the martini glasses.

For this card, I die cut two martini glasses out of a piece of 4 by 5 1/4" white card stock. I then stamped the green stripes and the black sentiment. Next, I placed the piece on top of a white card, traced the glasses and then stamped my martini glasses with gray ink. I did some masking to stamp the olives in green and the toothpicks in kraft ink. I then used foam adhesive to adhere the die cut card stock over the stamped base. I added red rhinestones and glossy accents to the martini glasses.

I like this card but I did make a huge mistake on it. You see where there looks like silver stripes? That was NOT supposed to happen. I used a Wink of Stella clear pen and it turned out silver. I am very disappointed in this product. Many famous stamp bloggers RAVE about this pen and the two card classes I have taken online have used it. Neither resulted in it looking like this. I only wanted to add a little clear sparkle, not a silver line! So needless to say, I think this card would have looked better if I had just left the green stripe.

That is all for today. Thank you for looking. Have a happy Thursday!!

  1. I'm so glad that my card was an inspiration to you! It's a great set, isn't it? The "merlot" sentiment makes me giggle - and it is just perfect for your celebrate card.

  2. Hi Nora, I really like your cards today and the second one is such a great unisex design. I'm sorry you don't like the silver effect but I think it looks fabulous and adds a bit more bling. Happy New Year to you and I hope your mojo sits on your shoulder for the year!
