Stamping Smiles Designs Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #2

Happy Saturday everyone!! I am so excited today to bring you my post for the second challenge over at Stamping Smiles Designs Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #2. Are you ready?

Here is the card the inspiration card:

Like the first challenge, I chose to use the middle going from left to right-holiday, 100% stamped, and die-cuts. I decided to make the "holiday" Valentine's Day. Here is the card I created:

I am going to let you in on a little secret here-this was NOT the card I intended to make. I really wanted to make a one layer card with the die cutting being just the frame. I made masks, did the layering and thought I was doing fine. HOWEVER, when I stamped the pink "shelf" underneath, this is what happened.

See the how the pink got on the cup and the saucer? I was not happy since this was the FOURTH time I stamped this card and on each time SOMETHING went wrong. I really liked my overall design so I was determined to make lemonade out of lemons!! To solve my problem, I stamped and die cut a tea cup instead and adhered it over the "mistake." Problem solved!!

I added a bit of glossy accents over the stamped hearts, as well as die cut, stamped and adhered a flower and leaf accent on the coffee pot.

As and added bonus, I am going to post the FIRST card I created using this same design. This was my "test" run.

This was how the first card was supposed to look, minus the awful polka dots. This card is not horrible BUT I did not like how the sentiment was not clear, hence me attempting to re-do it.

Please hop on over to Stamping Smiles Designs Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge to play along with me and the other design team members. Thanks for stopping by!!

  1. Pink and green is one of my all time favorite color combinations! Fantastic coffee pot and sweet cup and saucer. Love those GA'd hearts too. The flower and leaf are just the perfect finishing touch. This is just pretty! I like your final card a bit more than your first one. Not criticizing one bit; the scalloped shelf makes a better platform for your design. Still pretty! Bev

  4. Nora your design is fabulous, colors cheerful, and OH do we all understand the human side of stamping - even using a MISTI! Honestly? I LOve the re-do, and think it is just what it wanted to be all along! Awesome! I'm going in to see which row I'd like to do this time! Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. I love your perseverance, Nora! I don't think the first card is bad at all, but I do love how the second card ended up. That boo-boo was a good one I think as the popped up teacup give the card depth and even more interest! Way to go!! Hugs, Darnell

  10. This is so fun, Nora! I adore the little hearts rising from the cup, and that was such a great idea to use the ombre builders stamp to ground everything...makes a super cute tablecloth.

  12. Oh this sweet card was so worth all that tenacity, Nora! Your first one is pretty with the polka dot base ... and your final one with the scallops is delightful! Love how you turned the stamping catastrophe into a triumph by layering up the tea cup ... it adds a great sense of depth and is fabulous with those Glossy Accented little hearts! Hugs, Anita :)
