Happy Monday!! My first full week off from work-woot, woot!!
Not only that but I will depart for Ireland for a 14 day trip with some friends to celebrate our 50th Birthdays on Friday. I cannot tell you how excited I am!! This trip has been months in the making!!
Today I am popping in to post some cards I created for some challenges. Instead of cleaning up my craft room, I have been using the supplies I should have been putting away!!!
My first card was inspired by two challenges.
I used the As You See It Challenge #202 and the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #225: All About Occasions Challenge as my jumping off for this card.
I rarely do color challenges because I kind of suck at them. However, when I saw this color challenge, I knew that I wanted to ink up the Echo Park stencil that was on my desk.
I also pulled out some Simon Says Stamps dies for the "happy" sentiment and the "birthday" is from Mama Elephant.
It took more time for the Glossy Accents to dry then it did to make this fun card!!!
My next two cards were inspired by The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge and the Fab Friday Sketch #165.
I have not been coloring a lot as it takes time so I was excited that I would be able to participate a little before I went off on my vacation.
The butterflies were originally on a full sized panel, which I colored, but I decided to cut it in two so I could make two cards.
The butterflies are from Pretty Pink Posh's "Beautiful Butterflies" stamp set and colored in with a combination of Copic Markers and a white gel pen.
I also used a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen over the top of the butterflies.
Under the panel I used the Pink Fresh Studio "Lacey Edgers 1" to die cut a piece of lace out of white cardstock. The sequins were added at the end.
My last card is the second part of the butterflies panel.
I used Stampin Up!'s "Dear Doily" set to stamp purple doilies on white cardstock. Then popped up my purple matted butterfly panel over it.
I covered the butterflies in Aqua Shimmer and Glossy Accents.
As you can see, these are both sympathy cards. I know people hate making them but I don't mind it. I think butterflies are appropriate too because they mean re-birth.
I am entering this card in the Time Out Theme Challenge #137: Nature.
Well, that is all from me this Monday. I hope you all have a FABULOUS day!!

What a gorgeous trio of cards Nora and I can see your mojo is still in attendance. How clever to split your coloured panel to get 2 cards from it and it certainly is beautifully coloured. Hope you enjoy your holidays.

So very fun - love these bright butterflies and all the stitching details! The touches of glimmer are just right, too... Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!
ReplyDeleteNora, Beautiful card. I love the stenciled flowers and the multi-color sentiment strips. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteThese are all gorgeous cards, and I am so glad you crafted instead of cleaned!! Sympathy cards are especially difficult, and I always have a stash on hand, as they are no fun to make when you need them. Thanks so much for playing along at Time Out.
ReplyDeleteThank you for two days of wonderful inspiration, Nora! I love your black and white cards of yesterday and the boldly colored cards of today! Fantastic idea to cut your gorgeous butterfly panel in half so you could make two sensational cards! Have a fabulous fun time in Ireland ... what am I saying? I KNOW you will! Happy Half Century Birthday Trip!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Nora! You should do color challenges more often, you definitely don't "suck at them" LOL!! Have a great trip, sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour butterflies are stunning! The bright colors look amazing. Thanks for joining us at Fab Friday, hope to see you again soon!
ReplyDeleteSuch soft, dreamy florals, Nora ... they're so pretty! Your butterflies are just gorgeous ... rich and shimmery ... and lovely with the delicate lace stamped doilies and die cut edging! Congratulations on your 50th ... what a fun place to go to celebrate ... enjoy! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteYour cards look beautiful...bit equeal in design, but so beautifully different through your way of using that base...Love the fragile look of your card for TIME OUT! Thank you for joining us at TIME OUT!
ReplyDeleteThe stenciling is amazing, I love that birthday card! Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges!
ReplyDeleteNora, I love how you used the colours in our challenge to create your floral design! Stenciling the flowers was a great idea! And the glossy birthday die cut just pops on that page! Thanks for joining us at As You See It Challenges this week!
ReplyDeleteI think you've got to stop thinking that you suck at colour challenges! I love the way you've used the stencil to give a soft glow to the challenge colours. Repeating them in the 'Happy' column really lifted them, especially when contrasted with that big, glossy, flowing 'birthday'. Thanks so much for joining in with us at As You See It Challenge. Enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteAll your cards are gorgeous, but the stencilled AYSI one is just beautiful! That bold black sentiment stands out perfectly against our colors! Thanks for playing, and have a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip, Nora! What a great way to celebrate your 50th! I'll be sure to let my husband know about that if he wants to properly celebrate my 50th next May - lol! Your birthday card is gorgeous and you sure rocked that color challenge! Your butterflies are beautiful, and I agree, so appropriate for a sympathy card.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards! I love how you used only partial images for the first butterfly card. Very eye-catching! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful!! I love your take on the sympathy cards - so very true how the butterflies add a lovely significance. I've been sticking to pretty colors for these types of cards, and I find it helps when creating them! LOVE your gorgeous floral card too...It's sooooo beautiful!! And omg! Wishing you the BEST time on your trip, Nora! Ireland has been a dream of mine for a long time...so if you don't mind, when you get back, I'd love to know your tips! Sending big hugs and happy 5oth bday wishes! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWow ... stunning cards.
