A Couple of Challenges

Happy Monday!!

I am just popping in with some more Christmas cards I created for some challenges.

My first card I created for the present Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge. (PCC358)

I actually flipped the sketch because the images I wanted to use looked better horizontally

                                     (original sketch)                              (flipped sketch)

I was excited to use some pattern paper that has been in my stash forever on this card and once again used the stamp set that I have now idea where it came from.

I inked it up to make it look old fashioned. Not sure I like the look but it went with the papers I was using. The snowflake is one from my stash and the sentiment is from Mama Elephant.

This sketch was  a lot of fun because I was able to layer papers, something I rarely do.

My second card I created with the Happy Little Stamper's Christmas Challenge-Anything Goes.

I could have done an optional snarky comment but I don't have any of those type of sentiment stamps...yet. I ordered some by Hero Arts and cannot wait until I get them!! The holly die cut is from Memory Box. I colored it in with Copic Markers. Not sure I love it but it was fun to do.

The deer is from Mama Elephant and the sentiment is from Hello Bluebird. I kind of put this card together from hodgepodge on my desk.

One more Christmas card on the books!! Again, I am entering this into Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge-Anything Goes.

That is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!

Happy Monday and a Couple of Cards

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great start to your week.

I am popping in with a couple of cards I created. The first was inspired by Happy Little Stampers CAS Tis the Season Challenge and the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #245-Anything Goes.

I am obsessed with these little snowmen from Hello Bluebird but I DO NOT WANT REAL SNOW anytime soon!!

I did some stenciling with SSS Falling Snow Stencil and modeling paste. When it dried, I added an MFT snowflake die cut in the middle.

I then added some images from Hello Bluebird's "Frosty Friends" and "Frosty Littles" stamp sets. I did a bunch of experimentation in coloring my snowmen so each one is different.

The sentiment is also Hello Bluebird. It is from their "Typed Christmas" stamp set. I have an affinity for typed sentiments and tend to purchase them when I don't need them!!

Finishing touches to my card include Orange Stickles on the nose, Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen and Glossy accents on the bird and scarf. Even my CAS cards have to have a bit of shine or they don't seem finished!!

My second card is another snowman card I created for a previous Freshly Made Sketches but then didn't post in time.

I created the background using different pink Distress Inks and some acrylic paint that I had watered down and spritzed with a tooth brush.

Again, I used another Hello Bluebird Snowman, along with a SSS Snowflake die cut.

I know that all these cards are pretty simple but I have a ton to make and send this year unless I can get my daughter to have a photo shoot at Thanksgiving.

I like the simple sentiments too. I have not stamped any inside yet but will do that later.

On a different subject, has anyone been doing the coloring challenge?

Here are two days of coloring that I did on Friday and Saturday.

I added some sparkle onto the tree too but did not take a photo of that. Will be fun to make cards with these later.

That is all from me today!! Have a FABULOUS day!!

Clean and Simple Holiday 2018

Happy Monday!! Today I am here with THREE cards I created for the Clean and Simple Holiday 2018 online card class. I took this on a whim and am so glad that I did. I had SO MUCH FUN!!

My first card I completed for Day 2 of the class. Cathy Zielske had a video making a layered card with die cut snowflakes. I used hers as my inspiration and came up with the card below.

Now I am not sure that MY card would be considered clean and simple because I used patterned paper. Hers was mainly cardstock-which I LOVED. However, I can never use the same stuff as someone else because that is me.

I also found this buffalo plaid paper in my stash and just HAD to use it. The fun thing about this card was going through and cutting out the snowflakes. I don't think you can ever have enough snowflake dies to choose from!!

My next two cards I created as homework for Day 4. The first was inspired by Jessica Frostballa's technique of dipping her snowflake in glitter.

Like my first card, her card design inspired me as well. I did not have the same dies she used so I improvised with what I had. I also chose to use a light purple with silver on this card. Purple is unconventional for a Christmas card but I am a bit obsessed with it of late so I decided to go with it.

My third card was inspired by Dawn Woleslagle's class. I went WAY OUT of my comfort zone for this card. Foiling is not something I would do every day!!

Again, I was inspired by Dawn's card that she created but I didn't have any of the snowflakes she used so once again, I improvised. I also used purple foil on this card-and the photo does not do it justice.

I would have matched the sentiment with the purple but I didn't have the right match of purple embossing powder. I thought using silver was a good compromise. I tried to mimic the silver by adding gray jewels on the snowflake.

I think out of all the techniques I was taught this week, the foil one was the most fun. Can't say I would make a ton of cards like this BUT I could do this for "special" people in my life.

Well, that is all from me today. Thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Clean and Simple Holiday Homework

Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!!

I have been busy this week with after school activities, preparing for my daughter's homecoming from college (tomorrow) and taking the Clean and Simple Holiday 2018 online card class.

I know, I know, there are a ton of videos on YouTube to see but the online card classes are SO MUCH FUN!! I love the forum and being able to learn new techniques that I would never even think to search for online.

Anyhow, I am posting the homework that I did for Day 3 of the class. I haven't gotten to the homework for Day 1 or 2 yet because I have to do a bit of digging to find the right stamp sets and I didn't feel like it.

Kristina Werner did a video for this class with a cool watercolor technique. I chose to make two trees-one in red and one in green.

As usual, watercolor and I do not always have a copacetic relationship, I had to cut my watercolor paper at the bottom when I placed it on the card front and so to make it an A2 sized card, I added a strip of glitter tape.

These were SO FUN to make and I have it in my head to try to do this technique with a different shape.

On a different note, I also had to create two sympathy cards. It seems that is all I make these days!!

I did some experimenting with watercolor AGAIN on this but I did not use the correct ink. However, I refused to throw the panel away and made it into a sympathy card. The flowers are from WPlus9's Beautiful Boquet: Ranunculus stamp set and the sentiment is MFT's Deepest Sympathy stamp set.

I used Altenew Garden Treasures set to create this card, combined with my favorite PaperTrey Ink Words of Comfort set.

Well, that is all for me today. I hope you all have a FABULOUS day!!

The Last Day of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Holiday Release: Pear Tree Fri-Dies

It has been a LOOOOOONNNNNGGGG week here and am so happy that it is Friday!!!

Today is the last day of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps holiday release showcase. I created a card using the previously released Partridge in a Pear Tree Stamp Set.

I started off this card by stamping a sentiment in from the Partridge in a Pear Tree stamp set onto an aqua A2 card front. I added a piece of patterned paper over the front.

I then wrapped some jute around the front of the card three times. I adhered a snowflake that I had die cut using the Flurry Fri-Dies over the jute.

Next I stamped the little bird from the Partridge stamp set and die cut it out using the new Pear Tree Fri-Dies. I used foam adhesive to pop it over a branch I free hand cut with some scissors. I covered the bird with clear sparkle marker and Glossy Accents.

My last step was to adhere a couple of pears cut using the Pear Tree dies over the branch.

I think this is my favorite card from the whole week!! I love how the little bird came out and the pears are darling!!

Day 5 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Holiday Release: Naughty'isms Stamp Set and matching Naughty Fri-Dies

Happy Thursday everyone!! I hope you all are recovered from Halloween. Are you in a candy coma like me? I always eat too much but then cannot wait to get rid of it all by the next day.

Today I am back with another project using the new CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Naughty'isms stamp set and matching Naughty Fri-Dies.

I started off my card by stamping the present from the new Naughty'isms stamp set in red and kraft ink across the front of a kraft colored, A2 card.

I then layered green and red patterned paper over the card front. I used the Naughty Fri-Dies to die cut the sentiment and adhered it on top of the red patterned paper. I covered the sentiment with clear sparkle marker.

I stamped the present again on to various patterned papers. I fussy cut pieces out of each and then paper pieced the present together. To complete the card, I adhered the package to the card front.

That is it for me today. Be sure to stop by the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog to see some other fabulous creations by the design team. All new products are now in the NEW section of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Store. Use my code NORASENTME to get 15% off your entire purchase!!
