A Graduation Card

Happy Monday!! My FIRST real day of vacation!! I have a few goals this summer. One is to do some cleaning and purging. Charlotte does not have a job so she is going to help me. She is not too excited but beggars cannot be choosers.

I have slowly been cleaning up my craft room. It is slow going as I am a pack rat and NOT good at getting rid of things. I put them in the "to go" pile and then take them out of it days later. I am running out of room and all the "extras" wind up in a pile on my desk.

Today I am posting a card I created for one of my students that graduated this past Friday. As a rule, I don't always give kids a card because I would have to make too many. However, this boy was one of the HARDEST workers that I have ever meant. He has processing issues and he never gave up.

This card was probably one of the fastest I have ever made. I used CAS-ual Fridays "Bravo" and "Rad 2" stamp sets for the sentiments. The hat was from the "For the Graduate" set from PaperTrey Ink.

I added some clear Spectrum Noir Glitter Marker over the hat and covered it with Glossy Accents. I also made three score lines below the sentiments but you cannot see them in the photos.

The last step was to add a few sequins. The student asked me if the card was home made and told me he loved it!! I also added a GC to Ben and Jerry's inside.

Day 4 Sneak Peek for CAS-ual Fridays

It is Thursday, one more day until the weekend begins!! Yeah!! (Weekends are what I live for these days!!)

Once again I am here with a sneak peak for CAS-ual Fridays new stamp and die release. Just two more days until the goodies go live in the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps store!!

Today I am sharing a project that I created with the new "Bravo" stamp set. There is a "Bravo" Fri-Die too!!

What I love about this stamp set is that you can use this for a bunch of different celebrations-retirement, a new job, graduations-the possibilities are endless!!

I chose to make a graduation card for my niece who will be graduating from college in a few weeks.

I started the card by cutting down a piece of white card stock into a 5 1/4" by 4" piece. I then stamped the "applause" sentiment in blue-violet from the new "Bravo" stamp set.  Next, I used the tiny star from the "Sassy Smiles" set and stamped some stars around the panel in a random fashion. I mounted the white panel onto a blue card base and set aside. I used Blue Bayou Stickles over the stars and inside the dots on the sentiment to give the card a little sparkle.

I used a punch to punch a circle and created a diamond with a ruler to create a graduation hat.

I then used some black floss to make a tassel for the hat. I punched a hole in the top of the graduation cap, insert the tassel and covered the hole up with a black enamel dot. I adhered the bottom of the hat to the card and then used foam adhesive under the top of the hat for some emphasis.

Since the colors of her school are blue and orange, I stamped another sentiment from the "Bravo" set in orange on a strip of white card stock. I adhered it above the blue sentiment.

To round everything out, I adhered some white sequins and orange stars that I die cut using the "Fun-Fetti" fri-dies randomly down the card at an angle.

Since I work in a High school, I will be needing a TON of graduation cards and will be utilizing the "Bravo" set again and again.

Happy Graduation!!

Today the senior class is graduating at my local high school. They are great kids and I am going to miss the class of 2014!! In honor of the students moving on, I am sharing two cards that I created.

The first card is very simple. Using a My Favorite Things background stamp, I stamped five blue lines on a white card stock background. Next I die cut a white card front with the word "congrats" and misted blue and silver shimmer spray across the front.

I will let you in on a little secret-I really didn't want to use mist spray on this cad. However, I got a little bit of blue ink on my fingers, not realizing it and it got onto the card front. Instead of throwing away all my work, I covered the mistake up with the mist. I think I like it better this way too. A happy accident!!

While the mist was drying, I die cut and stamped a graduation hat in blue. My shimmer dried fast so I adhered the card front onto the white card with foam adhesive, making sure that the blue stripes peeked through the die cut sentiment. I used foam adhesive again to adhere the cap strategically over the R.

I was going to be finished at this stage but the car was calling out for something more. I decided to adhere 3 sequins randomly on the card front and use a Wink of Stella glitter pen on the hat. Can you see the shimmer? I really like how this card came out and it was fun to do.

My next card is one I created using scraps from my desk. I often die cut more then I need and then put them aside. I decided I had enough pieces from another project to make a card.

The first thing I did was mist an Aqua Mist die cut panel using two different shades of shimmer. Because I was impatient, I used my heat gun to dry the mist so I could get on with the next step of adhering the doilies to the panel that were die cut from the same color card stock. The card front was then adhered to an Aqua Mist card base.

On a strip of patterned paper, I stamped a sentiment and then adhered it to the card. My last step was to adhere the vellum butterfly and the button threaded with twine.

 I figure that I can use this card for a birthday or a graduation. Butterflies symbolize so many things-change is one of them. Your life definitely changes after you graduate!!! I haven't decided what I will do with it but I am sure that something will come to me.
