Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #4

Hello everyone!! It is that time again for the Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #4. Are you excited? I know I am!!

I created my card using the diagonal from the top left to the bottom right. My elements were: thank you, distress inks and plants.

Here is the challenge card for #4:

I started off by using Distress Inks in Milled Lavender, Shaded Lilac and Dusty Concord for the the flowers, which are the "Layered Lily" stamp set by Altenew. These are layer stamps where each layer is a different color.

I stamped the first layer in Milled Lavender and then used a brush with water to "blend" it into the water color paper. I did the same with each of the layers of color in both the leaves and the lilies.

I let the panel dry naturally and then used a My Favorite Things die to die cut the panel. I then mounted it on some Stampin Up! Marvelous Magenta card stock.

Next I used some gold thread to make a "nest" and adhered it to the card with glue dots placed in strategic places. I adhered the "thank you" sentiment, also from Altenew, on top of the nest using foam adhesive.

My last step was to adhere sequins in gold and purple (they match the lilies EXACTLY but did not photograph well!) onto the front of the card. I LOVE how this card came out and will be making a few more with other sentiments and other colors.

So please hop on over to the Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge and play along with us. I cannot wait to see what you create!!

CAS(E) this Sketch #159

Happy Monday everyone!! I am going to admit something now-today is my birthday and I have turned 47. Age is only a number but I have been noticing things that I do not like.

For example, reading glasses. (Please excuse the selfie. I don't normally take them and so am not great at it.) I now cannot see a foot in front of my face. I have always had better then 20/20 vision and it KILLS me to have to have a pair of these in every room. I also cannot find them in smaller frames then these.

I also hate that I have to dye my hair every six weeks or you can see the gray coming in at my roots. I can deal with the wrinkles but gray hair? I am too young for that!!

Well, on that note, I am joining in with CAS(E) this Sketch #159 Challenge. I LOVE this sketch so much and am hoping to find time to do some more cards with it. I have a few ideas up my sleeve!! However, I made a really quick card last night using never before used stuff or NBUS.

This card was SO EASY to make!! I just inked and stamped the Hero Arts "Waves Background" stamp onto white card stock. I then die cut it and adhered it to foam and then to a white card base.

I stamped and embossed a sentiment and then adhered it on top of two banners I had created using patterned paper scraps from my drawer.

The last step was to adhere some Pretty Pink Posh sequins. Easy peasy and I LOVE how it came out!!

Below is the sketch I used:

Isn't it fantastic? Be sure to go over to the blog and see what the design team came up with. Their projects are jaw dropping!!

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day!!

PaperTrey Ink Alphabet Challenge

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone had a fabulous day today!!

I spent the morning cleaning out my pantry. Not too exciting but it so needed to be done. I threw away so much out of date stuff that it kind of made me sick.

Here is the before photo:

Here is the after photo:

It was very much of a relief to get it done!!

Then Chris came home with this bouquet for me. Charlotte was so mad that he did not plan anything for Valentine's Day. We have been married for almost 20 years so things like this really don't matter to me. Also, my birthday is tomorrow and him remembering that is more important! (Though Charlotte says he has nothing!!)

I am more a wildflower girl then a rose girl so I am happy with these!!

Now for my card. I created it for PaperTrey Ink's Paper Crafting Alphabet challenge. It was to choose the first three letters of your name, look at the chart and then make a card from what it says.

Since my name is Nora, I used N, O, and R. I had to try a new product that I had not used yet (the stamp set "Twig Wreath), incorporate an ombre effect and round some corners. I actually did the "A" to with the stitched border but it was inadvertent so I am not counting it. This was a totally fun challenge!!

I created an ombre effect by blending PaperTrey's Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise and then Lemon Tart ink on white card stock. I then stamped a wreath from the set "Twig Wreath" in brown. I embellished the wreath with some of the stamps from the set.

I tore the edge of the blended card, used a die to create stitching at the top and adhered it to a Kraft card base. I rounded the top edges. I then die cut and stamped the flowers from the set and adhered them using both Ranger Multi Matte and foam adhesive.

I finished off my card with a bow I created with Jute, some Pretty Pink Posh Sequins and Stickles. I also embellished the flowers and the pink berries with gel pens.

This was really fun and I might do this again if I have time. I bought this stamp set, loving how everyone I have seen used it and then it sat. This challenge was just what I needed to get it out and use it!!

I thank you for stopping by tonight. Have a fabulous week!!
