A Day Late and a Dollar Short-Challenges

Today I am posting a couple cards that I created on Saturday for World Card Making Day. Once again I am late for getting them in on time but that is okay. For me, it is the fun of it, not for trying to win anything!!

My first card was for the ROYGBIV Challenge on My Favorite Things.

I created a card using Oxide Distress Inks and die cuts. Love how it came out

I used my NBUS "Celebrate" die from MFT and layered it so it pops a bit above the card front. I also used my never used Tonic Aqua shimmer pen on the the black die cut and think I love it better then any sparkle pen I have used so far!!

My next card I created for a few challenges. The first was for Freshly Made Sketches #307. The sketch was the main driver for the challenge and then the colors were inspired by a photo from a private challenge I am involved in.

The cool thing about this card was with the exception of the leaf die cuts, everything was on my desk and it came together quick!!

Here is the sketch I used:

The leaf stamp is an old "Stamp in the Hand" stamp that I have. I covered it with Tombow markers, then misted the stamp and stamped it on white card stock.

I used Lawn Fawn dies for the leaves and a Umbrella Crafts "Circle Dies" for the yellow circle.

Well, that is all for me. I thank you for stopping by today. Have a fabulous night!!

Happy Thursday!!

Hello everyone!! It has been crickets here on the blog for almost a month.

I had some computer problems and when my husband tried to "fix" it, (he is a software engineer with experience in mechanical and electrical engineering) I was not able to open up my profile at all!!! Then he bought some memory, thinking that was part of the problem but that wasn't it either. After much speculation I went out and bought a new 21" Mac. My old one was a 27" screen and though I didn't think I would miss it that much, I do. I just couldn't justify the expense right now as we are saving all our pennies for Charlotte's college.

On a different note, I have been creating somewhat. I made a card for CAS(E) this Sketch #241 but never was able to post it. I sent some packages out this week for two college freshman-my nephew and one of my neighbors. The sketch was perfect to make a card for one of them!!

I used Ranger Oxide Ink to make the rainbow stripes and then the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Smiling" Fri-dies to die cut the sentiment.

I then added an emoji that I die cut using Spellbinder's "Emojis" dies. I used a bit of "Christmas Red" Stickles on the smile of the emoji, as well as "Clear" Wink of Stella" and Glossy Accents over the sunglasses.

Here is the sketch I used:

I also created a second card for my nephew using the same products in a different way. Again, I used Ranger Oxide Ink and did some ink smooshing over some watercolor paper.

I die cut the sentiment out of black and blue paper, then layered them so that appeared there was a shadow in back of the word.

I used my MISTI tool to stamp the sentiment using CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Sassy Smiles" stamp set and popped it up with some foam tape beneath the sentiment.

Again, I used a die cut emoji and popped it above the sentiment. I layered the whole panel over a black A2 card base.

That is it for me today. I thank you for stopping by and hope you will all stick with me even though I had a long absence. Now that I have a working computer, all is well in my world!!!

Have a FABULOUS night!!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps meets Chibitronics Blog Hop

Hello everyone!! I hope you all had a fabulous week!

I am part of a blog hop today with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps in conjunction with Chibitronics. Chibitronics can make your card light up!!!

You should have come from Wei Wei Wang's blog.

I have to admit, I was a bit scared. I never took Physics in High School for a reason. Making a simple circuit? Thought I would be in trouble. I did do a sample card first to make sure it would work and surprise, surprise-it was easy!!

Here is what comes in the Chibitronics starter kit:

Copper tape, batteries, a ton of tiny lights-everything you need to bump up a card to the next level.

To create my card, I used CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Snowy Sayings" and "Powerful Words" set with "Funky Flakes Fri-dies" for a monochromatic holiday card.

First I stamped tiny dots from "Snowy Sayings" with pigment ink and heat embossed it in white. I used "Powerful Words" for my sentiment, using the same technique as the card front. I fussy cut the sentiment and adhered it to the card front.

I then die cut a few of the snowflakes using the "Funky Flakes" Fri-dies" and adhered them to the card. I topped the snowflake off with a clear sequin and some Diamond Stickles. A really simple card but then it was time to make it light up.

I DID NOT photograph my circuit as my inside was terribly messy. I had to pull up the tape a few times to get the battery and the light where I wanted it. However, I created a diagram above to show you how I set the simple circuit up. Totally easy!!!

I had a really hard time taking a photo of the card lighting up so I apologize for the photo below.

It looks really cool in real life. So much so that my daughter asked me where I bought it!!!

Next up is Karen Pemberton Szafron's Blog. If you get lost along the way, hop on over to CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog to get the full blog hop list.

Don't forget to comment on the blogs along the way to be in the running for two random prizes of a Chibitronic's Starter Kit or a $30 gift certificate to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamp Store!!!

Christmas with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

Hello friends!! Today it is Christmas on my blog with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. Instead of having a Christmas release, we are creating with some of the stamp and die collections that CAS-ual Fridays already carries. Look for specials on some of the Holiday products at the CAS-ual Friday Stamp Store!!

My first card features the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Christmas Sparkle" stamp set, along with the "Ornament Tags," "Funky Flakes" and "Noel" Fri-dies.

I started off by smooshing a magenta colored dye ink onto a white piece of card stock that measures 4" by 5 "1/4". When dry, I adhered the panel to the front of a top folding, A2 card.

I then stamped the small dotted circle from "Christmas Sparkle" onto white card stock and embossed with white embossing powder. I die cut the circle with the matching die from "Ornament Tags." I adhered the stamped circle onto my card using foam adhesive.

I used the "Ornament Tags" and the "Noel" Fri-dies to die cut the ornament top and the sentiment, then adhered them to the card front using a liquid adhesive.

I finished the card off by adding a layered snowflake that I die cut out of glitter card stock using the "Funky Flakes Fri-dies." I added a matching sequin in the middle with some Nuvo Crystal drops over the top to give it a little more interest. This card might look complicated but it took me only about a half hour to create!

For my second project, I created a tag that uses the same colors as the card. Again, I used the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Christmas Sparkle" stamp set and matching "Ornament Tags" die to make a folded round tag.

I stamped the large circle from the stamp set and embossed it in white. I then used the matching die to die cut it out of the white card stock. I also die cut a folded tag using the same size circle, as well as a backing. While I was die cutting, I decided to die cut two ornament holders out of silver mirror card stock.

Before I adhered the stamped front to the folded circle portion, I stamped the "to" and "from" inside the tag  with gray ink using the "Christmas Sparkle" stamp set.

I then adhered the tag front and back over it, added the die cut top and a bit of diamond glitter glue over the open circle on the front of the tag.

Next I layered a few other snowflakes that I die cut out of pink glitter paper using the "Funky Flakes Fri-dies" and again used a sequin with some Nuvo drops to jazz up the center.

The white and silver ribbon were the last touch added after everything was dried.

Since I was having so much fun I decided to make a second snowflake card and tag with a white and gold color scheme.

For my card, I used CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Snowy Sayings" and "Funky Flakes Fri-dies" to create my card.

I die cut snowflakes out of gold and white card stock and layered them over a piece of 4" by 5 1/4" white embossed card stock. I heat embossed in gold a sentiment from the "Snowy Sayings" stamp set.

I added some gold twine around the middle and popped the card front over an A2 sized card front that was covered with patterned paper. The last touch was to add some jewels over the snowflake centers and random sequins.

I loved this color scheme so much that I decided to do a matching tag.

First I die cut a tag using the "Tag Buddies Fri-dies" out of white embossed paper. I then used "Christmas Sparkle" stamp set to heat emboss "to" and "from," in gold, onto the back of the tag.

I flipped the tag over and adhered a piece of patterned paper over the middle. Next I die cut and adhered a gold snowflake that I created using the "Funky Flakes Fri-dies." The last touch was to add some ribbon at the top and adhere a gold sequin with a dot of glitter glue in the middle of the snowflake. I cannot wait to use this on a gift!!

Playing Along with CAS(E) this Sketch #236

Monday Monday!! I hope everyone had a fabulous day!!

Tired this afternoon from staying up too late musing over the Game of Thrones finale and worrying about going back to work today. It was fine but a long day!!!

Today I am playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch #236. I created a simple card using LDRS Creative "Sweet Treats" set. Can you tell that I adore these pigs?

I started off by die cutting the "Sunshine" paper scrap by Fancy Pants into a rectangle using Lil Inkers  "Stitched Rectangle" dies. I then adhered it to the front of a top folding, A2, Kraft card base. Next I adhered a strip of orange paper over the patterned paper.

I used My Favorite Things "Pierced Circle Stax" (retired) to die cut a white circle. I then adhered the little scene over the circle, popping up the little hat, the ice cream and word balloon with foam adhesive.

The little pig and elements were colored in with Copic Markers. I used a little too much Clear Wink of Stella over the ice cream cart. It just came out of the pen and I had a hard time wiping it off!! The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamps "Be Cool" stamp set.

Here is the sketch that inspired this card:

Yesterday I made Double Chocolate Cheesecake Muffins. It was the first time I made this recipe and it was quite yummy!!

Well, that is all for now. Have a FABULOUS night!!
