Prom Shopping and CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge #218

It is Good Friday in the United States and it is the last day of my vacation. Today I went shopping for a prom dress with Charlotte. We fortunately found one in the first place we went to. It is a small place called Red Door Boutique that is about twenty minutes from my house.

I loved this shop because you made an appointment with a stylist and she was the one who went into the room with Charlotte to dress her. It made it much easier on me. I just sat on a couch waiting for her to come out and model it. The next best thing would have been a cocktail for the parents while waiting!!

Charlotte picked the green on the right for her dress. I do have photos of HER but will wait to post when she ACTUALLY goes to prom and is all dolled up. My daughter is more of a tom-boy in the way she dresses so getting her to wear a dress is a miracle in itself.

On another note, I have been attempting to get my craft room in order this week. It is slow going and part of me cleaning up is using up stamped/colored images I have on my desk. I don't want to start using new supplies until I use the old up that I worked so hard on-KWIM?

Today I am sharing a card I created for the CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge #218. I mixed images from My Favorite Things "Happy Hedgehog" set and a few other random sets to finish off my card.

Here is the sketch that I used to create the card:

I actually flipped the sketch a bit to make it how I wanted it to be. I am hoping that this it will be okay to still enter but I am going to try!! I also chose to emboss an area with my score board straight across the top in lieu of adding a piece of patterned paper.

I used Copic Markers in B0000 and B000 for the sky in the background. I just flicked across the panel many times, not worrying if it was perfect. I wanted a bit of white to show through like clouds. For the grass, I used a flicking motion with markers YG01, YG03 and YG05.

Instead of the square on the sketch I chose to include a speech balloon with the sentiment and the addition of a die cut heart.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Have a fabulous day!!

Day Five of the CAS-ual Fridays Release

So happy it is Friday!! One week closer to my summer vacation!!

Today is the last day of sneak peeks for the CAS-ual Fridays release tomorrow, April 30, 2016. Please be sure to visit the CAS-ual Fridays Blog today for one last time to enter to win a $15 prize. One winner for each day will be randomly chosen from each day and will be announced tomorrow on the blog.

Today the design team is featuring the "Tin Roof" stamp set and the "Smile" Fri-dies.

Once again, I created two cards using these products.

For my first card, I embossed the larger pattern from the "Tin Roof" stamp set onto a piece of watercolor paper.

I then did some ink smooshing with Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron and Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink. I was very precise where I wanted the color to go so I did it in stages, each color was done separately. I let the panel dry and adhered it to a green card base.

Next I added a piece of green patterned paper scrap to the bottom right of the card and the die cut sentiment and stamped sentiment strip over the top. The veneer heart was the last touch. I love how this card came out, so simple and bright!!

If you read my blog, you know that I often use scraps that are on my desk, "left overs" from other projects to make cards. I decided to challenge myself for the second card and use the scraps that littered my table from all my designing this week.

The first thing I did was use my MISTI tool and stamp the "Tin Roof" background using the smaller sized pattern in red onto a orange patterned paper scrap. My goal was to make the background look like fabric.

I layered the stamped background onto a Kraft card base. I then adhered the negative die cut piece of vellum at an angle. I added a scrap of paper that I had blended shades of red distress ink on over the vellum piece, and a white border I had die cut using the "Links Fri-dies."

I die cut the "Smile" sentiment from black card stock, adhered it to the card and covered it in Glossy Accents. The card still needed something so I pulled out some Red Stickles glitter glue and gave the middles of each "flower" of the "Tin Roof" pattern a small bit of shine.

I am so sad that this is the last day of the release but I had so much fun creating for this event. Please don't forget to hop on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Blog for details on the release.

And there is a sale going on a CAS-ual Fridays Stamps too. See details here. You can use the code below to get even more off too!!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a great weekend!!
