Guest Designer for 12 Kits of Occasion February

Happy Saturday everyone!! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. It has been a long week and I am so happy to have some time to myself.

Today I am posting some cards that I made for the 12 Kits of Occasion Challenge for February. Jeanne Jachna from A Kept Life asked me if I wanted to play this month and there was no way I was going to say no to that!!! The theme of the kit was "crafting" with fun papers and images of paint brushes, animals crafting. I was only able to make three cards but I have enough goodies to make plenty more. My mojo has just been so off that I have just been slow at creating anything.

My first card I took the image that was stamped on watercolor paper and used some Tombow markers to color a portion and then used a watercolor brush to "paint" the color in.

I kind of had it in my mind for it to be a "modern painting" look. I then added the paint palate onto the card front and added swatches of "paint" to the palate covered in glossy accents. The colors are bright but it was so fun to make.

For my second card, I used hearts cut from a piece of pattern paper in the kit as the inspiration for my card. I actually die cut them out with different sized dies rather then fussy cutting as I wanted a range of sizes.

I then added the frame that was in the kit that I had blended brown ink on. I added this over the sentiment.

As I was making this before Valentine's Day, I added a sentiment of my own at the bottom to make it a Valentine.

For my third card, I used the pattern paper as my card inspiration. The polka dots in the rich colors just made me happy!

I added the tag, from the kit, and the fun little zebra that I colored in with Copic markers.

I had so much fun with this kit and plan to make more cards when my mojo returns. I am so happy that Jeanne asked me to be a guest designer this month and would love to have the opportunity to do it again sometime!!

I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog today.

Have a FABULOUS day!!

A Sympathy Card for CASE this Sketch

Happy Tuesday everyone!! It was a gray day here in CT. After three sunny days in a row it was quite depressing to see gray skies again. The temp was in the high 50's, though so that was a plus. Always trying to find a silver lining in my day when I am feeling glum.

Today I am posting a card that I created using the CASE this Sketch #360 as my inspiration.

Please excuse the photo. I did it quick and because of the gray day, not perfect. Below is the sketch that inspired this card.

I actually had a ton of ideas for this card but chose this one because I wanted to use these white, die cut flowers that have been sitting on my desk. Most are from My Favorite Things and I die cut them this past fall when my husband was away on business. One night when I was bored I pulled out a ton of dies and sat in front of the television die cutting images from white card stock.

The sentiment was from my stash as well. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background stamp set. I had mass produced this as well and it makes it so easy to whip up a card!!!

I was not sure wheat I was going to do after I added the flowers and sentiment but I thought it needed some zing. I decided these sequins from Cartwright's Sequins would the perfect addition.

Well that is all from me today. Again, I apologize for the photography. I did try to fix them but it actually made it worse so I am posting as is!!

I thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog. I hope you have a FABULOUS night!!

Freshly Made Sketches #423

Happy Sunday everyone!!

Tonight I am popping in with a card I created using this weeks Freshly Made Sketches #423. I was planning on posting this during the afternoon but time got away from me!!

Here is the sketch that I used for the card:

I started off by masking off a circle and ink blending in yellow and orange distress ink.

I then spritzed a bit of water on top for the sky effect. I stamped Penny Black's Delicate Silhouette's stamps in black dye ink over my blended sky.

The sentiment is from a retired My Favorite Things stamp set that I heat embossed in white. I added a little heart covered with Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen in the sky because it just needed a little something.

This weekend has flown by and I so wanted to make so many more cards, as well as clean my craft room. I did neither, instead cleaning the kitchen a bit and doing mountains of laundry. Does time get away from you like that?

That is all from me tonight. I thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Have a FABULOUS night!!

It is All About Celebrations

Hey everyone!!! We are Blog Hopping at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps today. The design team has used the theme "celebration" to jumpstart their creativity.

I chose to use the Shenanigans stamp set and a MISTI to line up the sentiments to stamp in rainbow colors down a white card front. I NEVER do this technique because even with something to help line up my stamps, I rarely get things straight. However, I think I did pretty well on this card.

I chose to use Shenanigans because this set is one of my FAVORITES in the whole CAS-ual Fridays Stamp Store. I tend to use these sentiments a lot because it can apply to so many different occasions.

I added some balloons that I die cut using the Bunny Fri-dies. I colored them in using Copic Markers to match some of the colors I stamped with.

I drew in the strings of the balloons with a black marker and added some "highlights" with a white gel pen.

Want to celebrate with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps? There is a sale going on!!!

Use code HUE20 to get 20% off your entire purchase!!!

That is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Have a FABULOUS day!!

It is all about the Birthday

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all doing well.

Popping in with some birthday cards that I created. My first one is a color combination I have not really used before. I wanted to make a birthday cake with chocolate frosting-which is MY FAVORITE. My husband makes the best home made chocolate cake and chocolate frosting combination. I ask for it for all my birthdays!!

I used Reverse Confetti's Cake and Champagne Stamp and Die set for the cake and champagne, and Lawn Fawn's Coles Alphabet Die for my sentiment.

I decided that gold was the perfect color to accent the chocolate with so I created the sentiment using gold cardstock and made the cake stand gold.

I colored in everything using Copic markers and added some sparkle and shine on some of the elements with a Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pen.

This card was inspired by some challenges. Addicted to CAS #178: Codeword CAKE and Less is More #413: More.

My second card was inspired by Seize the Birthday's Challenge #183: Show Me Some White Space.

My jumping off point for this card was the cake element which I had in my stash. The pink, purply blue and aqua were inspired by the colors from the logo.

I used scraps of pattern paper for my candles.

I used CAS-ual Fridays Fun-Fetti Fri-dies for the hearts that are the "flame" on the candles. I added some Stickles to the flames too.

The circle was popped up with foam adhesive.

I was so happy to make these cards as I have had no creative inkling to do anything at all lately.

On another note, this past weekend I celebrated my birthday with my daughter and my husband in Washington DC.  My daughter goes to college down there and I wanted to see her. We went to downtown Alexandria on Saturday and walked around. The day was so beautiful!! We went into an old torpedo factory that has been renovated for artist studios. They displayed their wares for sale and I was able to talk to a few of them about their art and it was so interesting. I love to hear how people are inspired by things.

Well, that is all form me tonight. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a fabulous night!!

It is All About Valentine's Day.

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are all doing well.

It has been quiet here on the blog as of late. My mojo has run away again!! I sit down and try to create but then just can't. I have done all my usual things to inspire myself (which includes shopping-which I am trying NOT to do.)

I sat down yesterday and today and created some cards in an attempt to get it back. All are Valentine's that will be going out this week for some family members.

I am TERRIBLE at sending cards so I made a bit of an effort to do so this year. I bought a ton of stuff for a package for Charlotte too that I am getting ready to send that out tomorrow. Yeah, I know that Valentine's Day is more a commercial holiday but my birthday is on the 15th so I always try to make it special for those around me. Makes ME feel good!!! I always feel more comfortable giving than receiving.

My first card was base on this weeks Freshly Mades Sketches #421.

Here is the sketch that inspired this card.

I stenciled the background using an Echo Park stencil and some pink and red dye ink. The letter is from Waffle Flower Crafts "Mailbox Die" and was die cut from a red cardstock scrap.

The penguin is Simon Says Stamp's "Picture Book Hugging Penguin" and the sentiment is from their "Love and Valentine's Word Mix 2."

Who says penguins are just for Christmas cards? I love how this turned out!!

My second card was inspired by this weeks CASE this Sketch #348.

I kind of flipped the sketch twice to get my design. The original was this:

I flipped it to this:

The little envelopes and the mouse are both from Waffle Flower Crafts. Again, I used the "Mail Box Die" for the envelopes and the mouse is from the "Sending Love" stamp and die set.

I have never bought anything from them before but I had to have this set. I loved that mouse!!! The sentiment is from the Hero Arts February kit.

I used pattern paper from Reverse Confetti "Sweet as Sugar" Collection on the front as well. I am loving that I am using more pattern paper on my cards!!! I am trying so hard NOT to buy any more but I always get sucked in by the pretty patterns.

My last is for Time Out Challenges #154 "Affectionate Challenge" and this weeks Paper Player's Challenge #477 "Red, Pink, Black and White" Challenge.

Again, I used the Penguin from Simon Says Stamp, along with the "Rainbow Heart" die.

The rose is from the Hero Arts and the sentiment is from the Ink Blot Shop.

I wanted to keep the "rainbow" in pink and red colors for Valentine's Day so I used a TON of scraps...and have plenty left over to use on on other cards.

This one is not my favorite of the three but it will be sent out tomorrow with the others!!!

Well, that is all from me tonight. I thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Have a FABULOUS night!!
