My Favorite Things "Sunflower Sweetheart"

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Just a quick post to show you a couple things I have been working on. As of late, I have been doing a lot of die cutting, stamping and then coloring the images while watching television with my husband. Then I take the images and design a card at a later date. By doing some of my card making this way,  I don't feel guilty spending time on my crafting. And I have to craft. If for some reason I had to stop, a part of me would die inside. Card making, scrap booking, sewing...any type of hands on craft is essential for me to be a complete person. A lot of people do not understand it but it is like anything-if you love it enough, you make time for it no matter what! (Wish I could say this about cleaning...)

That said, here are two cards I created using My Favorite Things "Sunflower Sweetheart" set. I ADORE this set and had so much fun sitting down and playing with it. I am still working on mastering coloring with Copic markers but so far, I am liking the results of my creations.

The first card I made I used the girl image, the sunflower and the grass.

I used an embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts for the background.

I then used a blender tool to shade PTI Lemon Tart and Summer Sun ink onto the embossing. I love the way it came out!! I then layered an oval over the sun and adhered the little girl over it using foam adhesive. I then adhered another sunflower over that one, again using foam adhesive. My last step was to adhere grass at different angles under her feet. I have never done a card like this but am happy with the results.

I just noticed that I went out of the lines a bit on the dress and on the hat. I said I wasn't an expert on the Copics but this is way better then it has been in the past!!

Supplies:

The second card I used a sketch as my jumping off point. However, for some reason I didn't save the sketch and cannot find it anywhere!! Just when I think I am organized.... Here is the card:

The first thing I did was to ink around the whole card with Vintage Photo ink and then I cut, inked and adhered a strip of patterned paper 1/4" from the left side. Next I die cut the banner, stamped the sentiment and adhered it to the card front. Then I wrapped a piece of green twine three times around the card front and tied it into a bow.  That seems like so many steps and I am not even to layering the fun part yet!!

I die cut a square with a stamped edge, inked the edge and adhered that OVER the twine. I then die cut a white circle and adhered that over the square with foam adhesive. Now the fun part begins!! I took all the little pieces I colored in and just arranged them over the circle until I liked the overall design. I then adhered them with a mixture of dot adhesive and foam adhesive. My last step was to go over the bird and the middle of the flowers with a Wink of Stella clear glitter pen. Can you see the sparkle in the close up below?

I love how this card came out and will be making more of this design. I have to admit that coloring in the wagon was just too fun.

Supplies:

I want to thank you all for stopping by today. Have a great day!!
