Cupcake Inspirations "Sparkle" Challenge

Happy Sunday! It seems like it has been FOREVER since I have blogged. My life has been busy and since I have had to choose whether to craft or to blog, the crafting has come first. How do you schedule it all in? Do you craft late at night? Do you blog a full week at once? Enquiring minds want to know!! Okay, maybe just my enquiring mind. The way other people do things always fascinates me.

It is snowing AGAIN here in Connecticut. What else is new? Actually, we had a full week without snow but had bitter temperatures. I will take that any day! My daughter wants a snow day tomorrow but I think she will be disappointed.

Today I am sharing a card I created for the Cupcake Inspiration Blog's "Sparkle" challenge. It is the 300th Challenge celebration so come on over and join them. It is also one of those self imposed "on my desk" challenges that I often make myself do. My desk is A MESS and making myself use the bits and pieces helps clean it up.

Here is the card I created:

Here is the Inspiration Image:

As soon as I saw this photo, I knew I was going to use my Paper Trey Ink "Baker's Dozen" cupcake image that was lying on my desk. The cupcake was stamped in Memento black ink and colored in using Copic markers. To give the image a bit of sparkle, I decided to add some gold Stickles.

While the Stickles were drying, I cut a piece of blue polka dot paper 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" (also lying on my desk) and adhered it to a white card that folded from the top. Next I used Paper Trey Ink's "Center Stage Cover plate" that I had previously die cut from white paper and adhered that over the blue.

I knew I wanted to use a glitter star die cut that I had bought from JoAnn's but it just did not look right against the background. I decided to use a white strip to break the background up. I embossed a line on the top and bottom and then stamped a sentiment. This was the only element that was not actually on my desk!

After adhering the white strip, I then used a liquid glue to adhere the chipboard star. I then used foam adhesive to adhere the cupcake over the star. I really LOVE the way this card came out!!

That is all for today. I appreciate you stopping by. Have a great night!!

This is an absolutely PERFECT Sparkle card for this challenge over at Cupcake Inspirations!! Awesomely done and I cannot believe the happy thought that you were able to pull this card together from stuff left on your desk!! Maybe I should stop clearing away so completely!! Then maybe I can make super inspiring cards like this one!!! As for your questions - I tend to stamp at least 5 or 6 cards in one sitting - typically on the weekend and then I post about them at different times during the coming week!! Or that is ideally the way I would like for it to work!! ANyways - Thanks for your bloggy friendship - it is so cool to see you and your sparkling happy celebrate card!!! Please have a great week!!!

Love your adorable cupcake framed by the glitter star! I am very impressed by your self imposed challenge, I should do something like that...

I craft mostly when my kids are in school and have Wednesdays especially set aside for it (because otherwise crafting always gets pushed back for chores...). Can't craft late at night because my craft area is in our bedroom and my husband goes to bed early. I usually write my blogposts in the evening. As you might have noticed I sometimes have long gaps in my posting. I don't have a strict schedule just do what I can and try to keep it stress free and fun.

Placing the white sediment banner was inspired, Nora, and just the right landing strip for your brilliant star and delicious cupcake! I am in love with this whole design!!

As for me, I make a card and then blog it. I have a few cards that I did around Christmas that I didn't get blogged and now I fear they will not be remembered, so apparently I have to do them one by one and in tandem because I also can't blog ahead. The bottom line apparently is that I live in the moment, haha! (Or I'm too mentally challenged to see anything but what is right in front of me!!) Hugs, Darnell

LOVE this awesome, sparkly creation. The chevron background is amazing. As far as getting it all done goes - it just never seems like there is enough time! I have most of my weekends free, so most Saturdays I craft away happily and start writing blogs. On the weekends that are busy, it's more of a late night free-for-all.

This is such a great card for the challenge Nora, and how wonderful that you made it from what was lying on your desk! It certainly demonstrates your creative skills and that cover plate background has now jumped to the top of my wish list.
I try to be organised with my blogging but it tends to be very haphazard and last minute.
Hugs
