Some Cards I Created for WCMD and Some Completed Challenges

Happy Monday!!

I am fortunate to have this day off due to Columbus Day. I have been running around all day trying to get errands done and had fun going to the new Trader Joes that opened up near us. Anyone have one of these around them? What is your favorite food from there?

Totally needed the day today too. Last week was busy and work was not so fun.

It started well with going to see Jodi Picoult at a lecture put on by the Mark Twain House. She spoke about her new book that came out last week. Really interesting lecture and she looks so much younger then her age!!

The week ended with going to see A Star is Born. What a FABULOUS movie!! Bradley Cooper can sing and Lady GaGa? WOW!!! I wish she would just use her voice and not do all the synthesizing stuff with her songs. I could listen to her for hours the way she sang in most of this movie.

Okay, now on to a few of the cards I created this weekend for World Card Making Day on Saturday. I guess I was "supposed" to make mostly holiday cards but didn't make any! Instead, I joined in on a couple challenges.

First, I created a birthday card for my niece using the the sketch from the Fab Friday Blog.

I chose to use the MFT Birthday Chicks stamp and die set for my card.

After I put it together, I added some shimmer on the balloons and on the little chick's hat. Below is the Fab Friday Sketch #147 that inspired this card.

The next two cards I used a Jennifer McGuire technique to create. They are NOT perfect but they were so fun and I definitely want to try this again.

I spread ink on the embossing folder and then ran white cardstock through my Big Shot to get the yellow in between the flowers. As you can see, the ink did not spread all over like it could but I liked the effect so I did not re-ink the folder.

I then die cut a rectangle out of the ink embossed cardstock and added it to a white card front that I had embossed using the same folder.

I added a simple sentiment (Tiny Words) and butterfly die cut (Stitching Butterflies) from Simon Says Stamp. I LOVE how this came out!!

I am entering this into the Just Us Girls Challenge #461-Sympathy.

It is kind of funny but I LOVE to make Sympathy cards...just not to send them.

My last card I used the yellow part that I cut out of above card to create yet another sympathy card. This one was a bit less work.

I stamped the sentiment using a MFT's Deepest Sympathy stamp set and added the little sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Tiny Words set.

I hesitated to use the same yellow for the large sentiment but decided to keep it.

I wish the floss was not as bright as it is. I might take it off and ink it with a bit of brown to dull it.

That is all from me today. I thank you for stopping by!! Have a FABULOUS day!!
