Since I woke up so early, I was able to play in my craft room. I created a card for My Favorite Things Summer School. Lesson 9 was to use secondary colors (orange, green or purple) on a card.
Here is what I came up with.
I chose to use all three colors on this card. For something that looks so darn simple, it took me long enough. Not totally happy with it as I think the shaker box needs one more thing on it. However, I tried a clip, some more stars and some other embellishments but nothing worked. The little sentiment banner might need to be longer. I just got sick of playing and gave up. I like how the rest came out though.
I started off by embossing in white using MFT's "Patterned Triangles Background" stamp. I then smooshed MFT's "Lavender Fields," "Sour Apple," and "Orange Fizz" onto a piece of wax paper and diluted it with a paint brush filled with water. I then painted each color onto the embossed background. After it was dry, I used a Blueprints die to cut the panel out.
I then adhered the panel onto a piece of MFT "Lavender Fields" card stock that was cut and folded into an A-2 top folding card. I randomly wrapped some silver thread and adhered it onto the card front.
Next I created the shaker box by stamping "Orange Fizz" with MFT's "Pinstripe" background on white paper. I die cut it into a square and then die cut a heart out of the center.
I then created the shaker and adhered it on top of the silver thread. I stamped and adhered the sentiment banner, as well as the die cut stars. I also adhered some of the silver sequins that I used inside the shaker. Thank goodness I don't throw my crafting items out. These stars have to be as old as my daughter!! (She is fourteen!)
My last step was to cover the card stock stars with clear Wink of Stella.
Oh, and I almost forgot because I rarely do this-I stamped an inside to the card.
This was a really fun card to make. First, I LOVE purple, green and orange together. I also liked using using the thread in the random way like I did. I have seen many card designers use it like this but I have never tried it. I still might play with it but for now, I am moving on. I still need to do the first two lessons!!
I am also feeling a bit nostalgic today. I decided to share two photos of Char from Summer 2006 for a "throw back Thursday." Time sure flies by. I miss this age!! She was so darn fun.
People that know me know this look. The apple does not fall far from the tree here!!
Thank you for stopping by today. Have a lovely night!!
