Happy Valentines Day and Twofer Challenge

Happy Valentines Day!! I hope you are all enjoying this Hallmark holiday.

I was presented with the nicest Valentine from Charlotte with some candy and my husband brought me home some beautiful flowers. I know that many do not celebrate this day but we always do. Just kind of fun. Charlotte-who is a senior in HS-celebrated it by giving her friends Valentines. The kids at work were running around with pink and red gift bags.

Today I am posting my Valentine's that I created for the Twofer Challenge #2, which is hearts.

I used the Simon Says Stamp "Stacked Hearts" die for the repeated product, with some Doodlebug "So Punny" die cuts for my cards.

I started by using Brusho "Rose Red" on watercolor paper. When it dried, I die cut it using the "Stacked Hearts" die.

I layered the hearts over some Kraft polka dot paper that I had die cut. I then adhered the Kraft over a red A2 card base. Then I popped some of the hearts inside the die cuts.

I then adhered the olives and the sentiment die cuts over the front. I used a bit of glossy accents to the pimento part of the olive and some google eyes.

For my second card, I used the stacked hearts but used white paper.

I actually cut the die cut apart and placed it on my card. I then added back some of the white hearts and also some of the hearts from the red die cut.

I added the die cuts to the card front and added some google eyes.

My last touch was to cover the red hearts in clear sparkle pen and glossy accents.

I am entering these into the Twofer challenge,  AAA cards CAS #108 "All You Need is Love" challenge, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Add a Die Cut.

I thank you for stopping by!!! Have a wonderful night!!

A Bunch of Challenges and a Monday

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all are having a great start to your week.

I spent all of Saturday in my craft room making Valentines for people. I also packed up two care packages-one for my neighbor and one for my nephew-to send for Valentine's Day BUT they will probably not get them in time. I meant to have them packed by Saturday to bring to the post office but as usual, I am LATE!!! Is anyone else like this?

Today I am posting a couple cards for some challenges.

First up, I created a card for Freshly Made Sketches #323. It is NOT my favorite card I created this weekend but figured I would post it anyway.

I used Doodlebug Designs "So Punny" paper and a My Favorite Things "Love" Die-namic to make the card front.

Here is the sketch:

I layered up the sentiment with black and white to give it a "shadow" to cover a boo boo I made.

The stupid black paper frayed when I die cut it and I needed something to hide it.

I am also going to enter this into the "Inspired By" Challenge which is "Got Mail" this week. The paper has tiny pieces of mail all over it!!

The next card is just as simple as this card is and I created it for my father and step mom. I used the negative part of the love sentiment as my jumping off point.

I dug though some of my OLD patterned papers to make the heart. I actually dug them out for a different card but wound up not making it.

The letter die is from Lawn Fawn and I covered it with clear Sparkle Marker and Glossy Accents.

I am entering this card into the AAA Card blog which has a "Love" theme this week.

While I made these cards this weekend I listened to a lot of podcasts. They are my new "thing" to listen to while I craft. I listened to this "Dirty John" podcast about how this con man became enmeshed with the California family. Totally FASCINATING story!!! I linked it to a place where you can get it from but I actually listened to it via iTunes.

That is all from me today. I hope you all have a FABULOUS day!!

Sunday with CAS-ual Fridays

Happy Sunday!!

Today I am on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog. I created a card for Valentine's Day.

I decided to make a background with two stamp sets and do some doodling. I actually have been DYING to do this for a while with some stamps but have not gotten around to it.

I created a background for this card using CAS-ual Fridays using stamps from "Peace and Comfort" and "Peace, Love and Coffee." I stamped the wonky circle in pink and the heart in red.

Then I outlined the hearts with black and doodled over the top. Then I stamped a smaller heart from "Peace, Love and Coffee" in white areas around the pink.

My sentiment was stamped using "Puffy Heart Love" onto red cardstock and heat embossed in white. I die cut the sentiment into a heart shape.

I adhered the heart to foam and then adhered it to the card for some dimension.

My last step was to adhere some clear sequins into the center of the large heart and then topped them with some Stickles.

I really like how this card came out. I will definitely be trying this technique out again.

Freshly Made Sketches #322

Happy Sunday!! The day is very gray here today and perfect for hanging out in my craft room!!

I am excited for tonights "This is Us" show after the Super Bowl. Anybody else love this how?

Today I am sharing a card that I created for Freshly Made Sketches #322.

I used Altenew's Fantasy Floral die and the last flower I created last week. I layered it over a frame I created using an MFT die.

The sentiment is from Altenew's "Beautiful Quotes" set.

I added some clear sequins and clear sparkle marker over the flower.

Again, I am entering this for Freshly Made Sketches #322.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have a FABULOUS day!1

Try Stampin' On Tuesday: Challenge 355-Sketch and the 30 Day Coloring Challenge with The Daily Marker

Happy Saturday everyone!! I hope everyone is having a fabulous and HEALTHY week!!

Chris was home for three days with some virus. He had a flu test but was not the flu. I never caught it, thank goodness, but laid low anyways. Sometimes that is the best thing!!

I am playing along today with two challenges. I have been coloring for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge at The Daily Marker. I also am joining Try Stampin' On Tuesday: Challenge #355, which is a sketch, but had the optional theme of love.

Here is the card I created:

Here is the sketch:

I used Stamping Bella Snapshots "I Heart You" stamp for both the image and the sentiment.

I colored in the polaroid with Copic markers. I was a bit heavy handed in the blue on the polaroid frame BUT you live and you learn. I also played with a new paper that I bought and would highly recommend for alcohol markers. I bought some Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock and so far like it better then the Neenah that I usually use. (And no, I do not get any money for this opinion. Just have been trying out different papers lately to see what I like best!!)

The background was created with smooshing some Stampin Up! ink onto watercolor paper.

The two die cut hearts are covered with sparkle marker but had a hard time photographing that.

Well that is all from me tonight. I will be back tomorrow with another card. Have a great night!!

Ellen Hutson Pinsight January Challenge

Hello everyone!! Happy Monday!!

Not really feeling all that well today. My husband went to the doctors and had a flu test today but was negative. They gave him Tami Flu anyways because he is on biologics that inhibit his immune system. I didn't get my flu shot until this past Saturday. I waited two hours in line at a public health bus for it OUTSIDE!! Why is it that I made sure my child had hers this fall and I didn't think I needed it? One woman in my office has been out for a week with the flu so I am so nervous about picking it up.

Anyway, I am posting two cards today. The first card is for Ellen Hutson's January Pinsight Challenge. This is the first time I am playing!!

I have been making a point of digging out products I have that I never used and inking them up. The flower is Altenew Fantasy Floral Dies that I die cut from paper that I did some ink smooshing on using Ranger "Shaded Lilac" Distress Ink. The sentiment is from Essentials by Ellen "Courage" stamp set.

Here is the inspiration board:

I was inspired by the flowers and the purple blue colors of the peas.

I did a bit of misting on the white background panel as well as some embossing with the dies.

I had SO MUCH fun making this card that I created a similar one!!

This second card I used Freshly Made Sketches #321 as my inspiration.

Instead of using "Shaded Lilac", I inked up my paper with Ranger "Dusty Concord" Distress ink.

I embossed the background using an embossing folder and layered the flower a bit differently then it was intended so more of the purple background showed through. I also used "Twisted Citron" and "Bundled Sage" for the ink smooshing on the leaves.

I tried to get it with this photo but when I was done with the flower I covered it with a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Marker to make it shine.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts "Act of Kindness" set.

I am also entering this into Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge: Layer It Up.

That is all from me tonight. I thank you for stopping by!! Have a FABULOUS night!!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Peace and Comfort

Happy Sunday everyone!! It is my turn over at the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog.

Today I am sharing a card I created using CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Peace and Comfort set. However, I wanted something more on my card so I used the leaves in a bit of a different way.

Instead of just stamping a single leaf on the flowers, I made some leaf branches.

I stamped both of the solid leaves in the stamp set in green, connecting the two in the middle. Then I took a green marker and created a stalk that kept the leaves together, as well as shaded in some detail.

Next I stamped the flowers in a peach color and used then used the over stamp in a coral color to make the rose. I stamped leaves onto the flowers using a different color green then the leaf branches and used the coordinating outline in a third green color.

I used one of the heart stamps in Love and Coffee  and a purple marker to create some little yellow flowers.

I then splashed the background with yellow, lavender, and gold mist spray. When it was dry, I layered some paper scraps over the front. I used a masking technique to emboss the sentiment from the Peace and Comfort set onto a scrap of white card stock in gold.

I popped the sentiment up from my card using foam adhesive.

I actually had a lot of fun looking at my stamps to see if I could use them in a slightly different way. I hope this card inspires you to take a look at your stamps and see what you can come up with.

The Peace and Comfort set can be found at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. Use my code NORASENTME for an extra 15% off your entire order.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by!! Have a FABULOUS start to your week!!
