Twofer Guest Designer for Challenge #20-Critters

Hello everyone!! I hope you are all having a FABULOUS day!!

Today I am a the guest designer for this months Twofer Card Challenge.

This month the challenge is "critters."

I created a birthday card and a Christmas card for my cards. I used a mouse from Hello Bluebirds "Field Mice" as my repeat critter. The mouse on the left is the same mouse but colored in a different color for each card.

Here are the rules for the challenge:

CARD DETAILS

For the birthday card I used Distress Ink in Twisted Citron for the grass and Tumbled Glass for the sky.

All the small details, like the butterfly, hats, flowers and the cupcake are small stamps from different stamp sets that I combed through to make my scene.

The grass was a stencil I created using an MFT die that I had. I used a craft knife to cut into it in two places to tuck the feet of the mice under it.

The finishing touches are using Glossy Accents on the balloon and hats, and Stickles glitter glue in a variety of colors.

For my second card I created a Christmas card.

I layered different patterned papers from Basic Grey and Prima. I added some snowflakes that were "extras" from a previous project that I tucked behind a pre-made Prima tag.

The "Merry" sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp that was another "extra" in my stash, that was already colored in. I used Antique Linen Distress Ink on all the white accents because the background paper was not a true white.

All the little mouse accents, from the cheese "present" to the hat and scarf are from Lawn Fawn.

I have to admit that this IS NOT my favorite card. The mice are a bit too close together on the tag but I had to do it this way because of the size of the tag. It is also busier then I usually make my cards. All in all, it was fun to create but not my usual style.

That is all from me today. I thank you so much for taking the time to stop by. Have a wonderful day!!

My First Christmas Card of the Year for Freshly Made Sketches #401 and Happy Little Stampers Challenges

Happy Monday!! I hope you all are having a great start to the week.

I have a busy week with MD appointments and getting my hair colored, (thank goodness!!) as well as making myself go to the gym. Hate exercise BUT it is essential to my physical and mental stability. I just hate making time for it. Would rather be doing so many other things.

Popping in with two cards I created for some challenges. The first card I created using Freshly Made Sketches #401 and Happy Little Stampers Challenge: Anything Goes With Dies.

Here is the sketch that I used for my jumping off point.

I used some of the die cuts that I had cut out this weekend to make this card. I have to say that I had A LOT OF FUN making this.

The green leaves are the new "Eucalyptus Leaves" die from Simon Says Stamp that I blended Mowed Lawn and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink on. I then topped it with some clear Nuvo Shimmer Pen.

I layered this over Memory Box's "Jovial Wreath" die that I had shaded in using Vintage Photo and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. My paper is from an old 6" by 6" Basic Grey paper pad. (So miss this company!) The little gold gems are from Studio Katia.

The sentiment is from the archives. I believe it is Making Memories? Could be something else but it is more than ten years old. I popped it up over the wreath and leaves with foam adhesive. I LOVE how this card came out!!

For my second card, it is another quick thank you. I used the sketch from AAA Card Challenge #148, which was a card sketch.

I decided to use the Simon Says Stamp "Explore Nature" stamp and Die set instead of using animal images.

I stamped the leaves with Ranger Archival Black ink and then used small cube inks and did a faux watercolor technique on the leaves.

I used scraps of paper to put above and below the leaf border. As you can see, the ink did seep out of the edge of the orange and red leaves. I didn't mind that it did this. It looks like part of the design. The sentiment is from Hello Bluebird.

I used Blushing Red Nuvo Crystal Drops as an embellishment.

Well, that is all from me today. I have some special posts coming up for the rest of the week, so tune back in tomorrow. I thank you for stopping by. Have a fabulous day!!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps June 2019 Release Day 2

Hello everyone!! I am back today with a scheduled post for Day 2 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps June 2019 release.

Today I am showcasing a card I created using the new Flakey A2 Panel Fri-die. I have to say I had a lot of fun using this new die!!

I started off this card by using the new die to die cut a panel out of white cardstock. I then did multiple layers of embossing with a teal embossing powder that had little specks of glitter in it.

Next I stamped a sentiment using the Sleigh-ride stamp set onto a white, A2 card base and heat embossed it in gold. I then adhered the green die cut panel over the A2 card base.

As I was looking at the panel, I thought it needed something else so I then used some Versamark ink around the edge with some gold embossing powder to give it a little POP.

My last step was to adhere some gold confetti in the middle of the snowflakes.

The Flakey A2 Panel Fri-die, as well as the rest of the release is available NOW in the NEW section of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Store. Use my code NORASENTME to get an extra 15% off your total order, including the new products!!

My Favorite Things You Could Be a Card Design Superstar

Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you all had a nice weekend. It has been beautiful here in Connecticut after a week of rain. Low humidity and sunny. I am looking forward to fall temperatures, though. It is my favorite time of year!!

I have been busy making cards but not having much time to actually post. I am hoping to do better this week.

Today I am posting 2 cards that I created for the My Favorite Things You Could Be a 2018 Card Design Superstar Challenge.

It is a TOTAL long shot because there are some FABULOUS designers that have posted but I figured I would give it a shot. You can't win if you don't play!!

My first card is for the Clean and Simple category.

I stamped the background on a Persimmon cardstock folded into a 4" by 5 1/2" card base using the MFT's Striped Background stamp (retired) in MFT Persimmon dye ink.

Next I die cut a Mesmerizing Mandala Die-namics and heat embossed it using pearl embossing powder. I adhered it over the card base, with just a smidge overhanging the right side. I thought the Mandala looked like a snowflake so I figured on a Christmas theme for this card.

I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from MFT's Snow Globe Sentiments stamp set and used foam adhesive to pop it off the mandala. I then used Tonic Rosewater Jewel Drops to adhere some sequins from the Princess Sequins Kit.

My second card is a long shot but I am entering it into the Coloring Virtuoso Category.

I originally tried to create a background using Copic markers but it didn't turn out so I used images from the MFT Birthday Chicks stamp and Die set to create the card.

I used Copic markers to color in the birds using a dot method. I wanted them to look like they had little feathers.

I adhered them over a white, MFT Single Stitch Line Tag Corner Square Frame Die-namic. I then adhered a cupcake from the same stamp set that I had colored in using Copics, covered the top with Glossy Accents and adhered some sprinkles on top.

My last step was to adhere the sentiment, also from the Birthday Chicks stamp set, onto the front of the card.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. I hope you all have a fabulous day!!

A couple cards for CASE This Sketch #252, Time Out Challenges and Merry Monday #269

Hello everyone!! Today I am just posting quick.

I created two Christmas cards for some challenges.

First, the layout of the card was inspired by the sketch below from CASE this Sketch:

Instead of the circle, I used the poinsettia as the focal point on both cards, along with some pine boughs and mistletoe.

The colors that I was inspired by came from two sources. One is the image from TIME OUT Challenge #98and the second is three colors from the Merry Monday image #269. I think you can see what inspired me from both.

Here is a close up of both. I used the same poinsettia that I used on yesterdays card. I die cut a few to get rid of some scraps.

I also used two different sentiments on each card but both were heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

That is all from me today!! I thank you for stopping by. Have a FABULOUS day!!

Snowflakes with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

It is hard to believe that it is the last day of November today. Where has the time gone?

Today it is my turn on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog. I created a holiday card and matching tag using two snowflake sets-"Snowy Sayings" and "Bring on the Snowflakes."

The colors were inspired by the image below.

It was also LOOSELY based on last weeks "Freshly Made Sketches #314.

I started off by stamping and heat embossing the sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Snowy Sayings" in silver.

I then stamped the small aqua snowflake from the same set and the large snowflake from "Bring on the Snowflakes."

Next I stamped and heat embossed the large silver snowflake. I die cut the white panel and wrapped some silver thread around the front. I used a lighter piece of a patterned paper scrap behind the panel and mounted the whole thing on an A2 sized, top folding, aqua card.

My last step was to adhere some matching sequins and light colored jewels on the snowflakes and randomly around the sentiment.

For the tag, I actually used the practice piece I made for my card. I did the exact same process as my card but then used the middle sized Fri-die from "Tag Buddies" to cut out the tag.

I added some silver thread and thin ribbon to the top to finish as the finishing touch.

I love using different colors for my Christmas cards and I hope that this inspires you to create some fun snow themed cards too. Use my code-nora2017 at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps to get 15% off your next purchase-including sale items!!
