Playing along with My Favorite Things Sketch MFTWSC175 Challenge

Long time, no see. I have been happily crafting but not blogging. How I can blog regularly AND craft is a mystery to me. I don't seem to have time to do both and I need to craft for my blog content. The summer is coming so I know it will get better but I think I am going to need to start "scheduling" it in to my day. I have been doing that with working out and it has been going great so why not try with blogging?

Enough about that!! The real reason I am blogging today is to play along with My Favorite Things and their sketch challenge. The card below is what I created.

Here is MFT's sketch:
I stuck pretty close to the sketch but eliminated the two little pink embellishments that sit on each side of the oval focal point. I tried using brads, gems and even sequins but they just didn't look right. I made the executive decision to just leave them off.

I chose to use the My Favorite Things "Sunflower Sweetheart" stamp and die set to create the stamped images in the center of an MFT oval doily. The stamps are colored in with Copic Markers and layered on top of each other using foam adhesive to give them some dimension. I am not sure if you can see from the photo below but I also used Wink of Stella on the middles of the flowers to give them a bit of sparkle.

I created a frame around the layered stamps by die cutting the middle out of the doily. I then stitched it with jute twine. I like the way it came out but I think I would layer a couple die cut doilies on top of each other before I stitched to make it a bit sturdier. I could not pull the twine as tight as I would have liked.  At the end of the stitching, I tied a bow and added a button. I wasn't sure how I was going to adhere the frame to the card as the stitching stuck out from the back. I wound up using glue dots and they are holding well.

I hope you like my card. I love how it came out and intend to make more based on this sketch at a later date.

I am also entering this card into Virginia's "Stitched" Challenge. If you haven't ever been over to her blog, run! It is fantastic!!

I LOVE this new challenge blog and I chose to use this doily just so I could stitch around the edge!

Thank you for visiting. Have a great night!!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge

Happy Sunday!! Today I am playing with My Favorite Things in their "Get Sketchy" challenge.

Here is the sketch I had to use for my card inspiration:

The card I created stuck pretty close to the sketch, with the exception of placing my strip below the frame instead of on top of it.

I used MFT's new "Picture This" stamp set for the sentiment and various dies for the other elements. The patterned paper was scraps I had used from other projects-something I need to use more of. I used adhesive foam to give the frame some dimension but I am not sure that I like how it came out.

I think my favorite part of this card is the tiny camera. I LOVE this die. I have had it for over a year and think I have only used it once.

I think I will make this a Valentine card and decorate the inside too. However, I will do this later when I figure out whom I want to give the card to.

That is all for today. I have been stamping my heart out this weekend so there will be more to come later on in the week. Thanks for stopping by.

My Favorite Things Card Sketch 157 Challenge

Hello! I just wanted to share a quick card I created for the My Favorite Things card sketch challenge. The challenge was to create a project using the sketch below.

I am not sure why I had such a hard time with this sketch but I did. I started off knowing what colors and what kind of card I wanted to make. I decided to create an simple Valentine card so that I would be ready for the upcoming holiday.

I used My Mind's Eye "Heirloom Collection" paper and die cuts for the arrow, the patterned paper and the sentiment banner to start off the design. I used My Favorite Thing's "Blueprints 1" Die to die cut both the patterned paper and the black frame for the sentiment.

For the paper strip in the middle, I stamped it with MFT's "Right This Way" arrow stamps in different sizes with Paper Trey Ink's Berry Sorbet Ink. I then stamped the hearts with Pure Poppy Ink using Paper Trey's "Heart-2-Heart #3." I then mounted the strip over the two strips of black paper that I die cut. The glitter arrow was adhered next.

Using foam adhesive, I adhered the sentiment strip with the tab that I created using a die from MFT and a sentiment from PTI. Using even thicker foam adhesive, I adhered the two hearts. (I always try to buy different kinds of foam adhesive so that I can have different heights on a card.) The last step was to cover the hearts in Candy Cane Stickles in an attempt to match the arrow.

I really like how it came out even though I wasn't sure at first if I was going to pull it off. Thank you for looking!!
