Hap Bee Birthday

Hello blog friends. I haven't posted in the last week or so. I have been making cards or scrapping but other things have gotten in the way and once again my blog gets neglected.

Last weekend we had a teen "crisis" with my daughter that kept me from blogging. (Isn't their always a crisis at age thirteen?) Without revealing any details, she opened up and everything came pouring out. I felt so bad. Nothing is worse then not being able to "fix" things for your child. Needless to say she needed some extra mom time.

This weekend I meant to blog and same daughter had to use my computer to edit a video for a project that was due TODAY. She neglected to do anything about it until yesterday and then took up the afternoon on the computer in my craft room. The very same afternoon I had carved out for myself to sit down and play at the desk in my craft room. I was quite disappointed and a little bit aggravated last night about it all.

Today is a new day and I thought I would share a card I created last week.

My friend Alvin wanted me to make a birthday card for his cousin with a bee theme.  I totally stole the idea from someone else. I originally pinned the card on Pinterest so I could have the original link to the person's blog but I cannot seem to find it now. This happens to me all the time and it irks me immensely. I need to go through my thousand card pins and narrow them down into different card boards.

Here is what I created:

I did not have a honeycomb circle die so I created one using my Silhouette digital craft cutter. I used Simon Says Stamp! "Circle of Friend's" stamp set for the bee and part of the sentiment. Instead of the sentiment saying Happy Bee day as the stamp was designed, I made it say Hap-Bee Birthday instead.

I fussy cut the bee, which is not my favorite thing to do, and used black enamel paint on the black stripes and diamond Stickles on the wings.

I did not neglect the inside either.

I used a combination of stamps from Simon Says Stamp!, Lawn Fawn and Paper Trey Ink. I love that little bee!!

Since my friend was going to hand deliver this card, I decorated the envelope too.

Wouldn't you like to receive this? I wish I could send it through the mail like this.

Here is another angle of the card. As you can see, I popped the white panel off of the yellow card base with foam adhesive.

That is all I have time for tonight. Thank you for stopping by.

Simon Says Stamp! card

Happy Saturday!! I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend.

Just a quick post today featuring a simple card I created with Simon Says Stamp! "Friendship Circles" stamp set.

I did not use the dies on this but the used four stamps from the stamp set to create a simple card. I think I like making simple cards-especially when done in mass quantities!! I really only made one card with this image but colored it in with a bunch of others.

Isn't he cute? I just stamped the sentiment, the bear, the heart and the "string", and colored the elements in using Copic Markers.

Here is a little closer view of him. I used foam mount to adhere him on a scrap of red polka dot paper, added some diamond Stickles and three red sequins to finish the card off. I will be making more of these. I think the bear would be cute on a baby card as well!!

Thank you for stopping by today. Have a great weekend!!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge

This weekend I was FINALLY able to play and one of the things I did was to create a card for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge for this week.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog

This weeks challenge is Travel/Cityscapes. Come look at some of the cool cards the designers created here. Here is what I came up with:

This was a huge challenge for me because I have very few travel stamps and almost nothing for cityscapes. The whole inspiration for my card was from a piece of patterned paper from the "Here and There Collection" by Studio Calico. I built my card from there.

I die cut a tag from green paper and then ran it through my Big Shot Machine again to cut the house out. I combed through my stamps and found a teeny, tiny tag stamp I had from Maya Road. I stamped it over and over again and then punched holes in it using a tiny whole punch. I stamped the "merci" sentiment with stamps from Avery Elle. The finishing touch was to use Stickles Diamond Glitter Glue in the stars and in all the windows of the houses that were inside the die cut. You can see this better in the view below.

The last step was to add the sequins. I am really happy with how it came out since the subject was a stretch for me. Thank you for looking!!
