Another Simon Says "Super Hero" entry with Mama Elephant

Happy Thursday!! Right now I am supposed to be sitting down with some new stuff I got in the mail yesterday and today but instead I have been online commenting and now I am blogging. Chris is getting home tomorrow and I did not get any of the creative stuff done that I wanted to this week.

I also have to be very quiet as Charlotte is studying downstairs tonight. I like her to be in a public space in our house so I know she is doing what she is supposed to. Final exams can be grade killers!!

I have also been browsing blogs and seeing MORE new things that I want. I am loving the new color stamp pads from Simon Says Stamp.
Aren't they so happy and fun? I need more ink like I need a hole in the head so these are not something that I am going to be able to purchase right away. I already have trouble storing what I do have.

I also NEED that new "Many Thanks" set of stamps that they did with WPlus9.
I love the watercolor look and could see me making many beautiful cards. I think I need to purge a little before I can justify buying this set, though.

Then there is the new sneak peek from Mama Elephant. They posted previews of some of their new sets yesterday. I am in big trouble!!

Then last but not least, the new release from Paper Trey Ink that is being revealed. Wow!! I need to win the lotto!

My card supplies that I have not cracked open are starting to take over my room and I need to begin to have a little self control. I sometimes wish that there would be more time in between the releases too. By the time I get a stamp set that I want, there are 15 other new ones that come out from that company that are on a wish list. My goal this summer is to have fun with what I have. Am I the only one that is swimming with unused stuff?

Now for why I REALLY wrote this post tonight-my last Mama Elephant "Tiny Heroes" card that I wanted to share. This one is more for a little boy and I used primary colors for the card.

(I apologize for the blue sticking up at the top. I did not notice it until I took the photo and cut it off.)

I am not going to do a step by step of what I did for this because I think you get the idea by just looking at it. The blue paper is a bit of a stretch for me, though. It was a sparkle paper that I had in my stash. One of those things I bought YEARS ago and could not part with. I knew I would find somewhere to use it and this was perfect under that white die cut. This is why I have trouble purging. You never know when you will need it!

Once again, I am entering this into Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge-"Friends or Superhero."

I think this suits the bill perfectly!! They are also showcasing Mama Elephant, which is one of my FAVORITE stamp companies. (I have a lot of favorites, though!!)

I want to thank you for stopping by tonight. I hope you have a fabulous Friday!1

CAS(E) this Sketch #108 with Lawn Fawn

Hello! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. It is a bit cold in Connecticut today but that is New England weather. I will take this over snow any day!

Charlotte and Chris are at robotics today so I spent the day doing whatever I felt like. Mostly that was laundry and going to the gym but I did get to have a really nice late lunch with a friend. I had one of the most DELICIOUS margarita's I have ever had today. It was made from grapefruit juice rather then sour mix and just so refreshing! I don't seem to get enough socializing in these days and I miss that. I think I need to schedule that in more often.

One thing I did have time to do this morning is make a card for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge. I read this morning that an online friend was feeling under the weather so I whipped up this card for her.

To be honest, I actually created TWO cards because I am trying to make my life a little easier so I have cards created for my stash instead of whipping them up on demand. Here is sketch #108 that I used as my jumping off point:

To start my card, I stamped the little bird from Lawn Fawn's "Get Well Soon" stamp set and colored it in using Copic markers. I then die cut the bird using the matching die set.

Next, I stamped the sentiment and the hearts on the white rectangle. I wrapped a piece of red DMC floss around the top, mounted it with foam adhesive onto a red scallop die cut and set it aside.

For the background, I used Washi tape to create the stripes on a white piece of card stock measuring
5  1/2" by 4 1/4." I wanted the stripes to be as straight as can be so I started from top and used a red scrap piece of tape as a marker. On both the cards I made I had white space left at the bottom, which was not what I wanted. However, I left it and if I created this design again, would fix it so that this would not happen.

When I was finished with the tape, I folded the ends over to the back and mounted the rectangle onto a 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" top folding card.

I mounted the small rectangle piece I had created previously onto the front of the card. I then mounted the little bird onto the front with foam adhesive.

My last step was to take a Wink of Stella pen and use it over the black hearts. It is hard to tell in the photo but they do have a bit of shine to them.

My second card I created the same way but changed up the color scheme a bit.

I like how both of them came out and it was not hours to make, as per my usual cards.

I am also entering this into Simon Says "Anything Goes" Wednesday Challenge."

I thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great night!!

A Simple Card

Happy Tuesday!!

Today was a hot one here. The weather has been so funny lately. Yesterday was cloudy but really cool and today was sunny, muggy and HOT. A good day to stay in and get some stuff done.

Today is going to be a quick share. I created this for three challenges, something I rarely do. Here is my card:

The first challenge was for Curtain Call and I used the colors on my water brushed rectangle that are in the photo below. Aren't they so pretty?

The first thing I did was to stamp the butterfly onto watercolor paper and then heat embossed it using clear embossing powder. I then used PTI Soft Stone, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores and Smokey Shadow stamp pads and a water brush to make the stripes.

I also used the sketch below, as well as the actual card, as my inspiration on how this card would be put together. Both are from PTI's Newsletter in an "Inspiration Archive" article.

The background paper was stamped with a polka dot stamp from PTI. I have to admit that it is not perfect but since this was my fourth attempt at stamping it, I kept it. It irks me to waste paper!!

I added a few elements that were not in the sketch. Instead of a circle, I chose the butterfly shape. I also decided to use foam adhesive to pop up the sentiment banner, giving me room to over lap some enamel dots.

The last element I added was the border at the bottom of the painted rectangle. The rectangle I cut was not big enough so I had to figure out a way to have the bottom stick out. I die cut a piece of Aqua Mist card stock with a PTI "Journal Cards Border" and then trimmed it to fit the rectangle. It was perfect!!

I am also entering this card into Simon Says Stamps Wednesday's "Anything Goes" Blog challenge.

I thank you for stopping by!!
