Paper Trey Ink "Feather Finery" card

I had a whole day in my craft room on Sunday and had every intention of doing cards for various challenges. However, as I sat down to play, none of the current challenges inspired me to play with all the new supplies I had. I decided that since I don't get to make cards just for fun that often, I would experiment with some of these supplies and see what happens.

One of the first things I did was to make my own paper using a water color paper, a straw and some re-inkers. I apologize for not having a photo of the process but I was having too much fun with it to stop and take any. (I also got dizzy from all the blowing too!) I originally was going to use the paper as a background but due to an embossing error, I had to go to plan b.

I decided that this paper would make really pretty feathers. I decided to use Paper Trey Ink's "Feather Finery" stamps and dies on my paper. I cut the large and small feather out, then stamped each in Versamark ink and embossed both with gold embossing powder.

I really like how the large feather came out but the small one somehow got a bit smudged. Since it was the last of my paper, I had to just go with it. If only I could have found my embossing buddy. I put it somewhere so I would know where it was but could not find it!! Sometimes these things happen.

I layered the feathers on PTI Royal Velvet card stock, that was layered over gold vellum that I found in my stash. I so wish I could find more of this because I really like the look!! I embossed a sentiment from the "Feather Finery" stamp set in white and then layered gold sequins I bought from Pretty Pink Posh to finish the card off. (If you haven't been to her shop-it is awesome!!)

This was a really fun card to make and I will definitely be making more paper like this in the future.

Thank you for stopping by!! Have a wonderful day!

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Let's Have a Laugh

Happy Monday!! Today I am going to share a Valentine that I created this weekend.

I created this for Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge blog.

The challenge was to "Create something funny or humorous or a play on words" and to use Paper Smooches stamps if I could. I looked through my Paper Smooches stamps and just couldn't find what I wanted for this card so I used a sentiment from Lawn Fawn's "Science of Love"set instead. It was perfect for the design I came up with.

My daughter said it was creepy but I LOVE it. I used My Favorite Things camera dies and polaroid dies for my silver camera and the "photo" coming out of it. The background patterns are different strips of Washi tape.

I want to thank you for stopping by today!! Have a great night!!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge

Happy Sunday!! Today I am playing with My Favorite Things in their "Get Sketchy" challenge.

Here is the sketch I had to use for my card inspiration:

The card I created stuck pretty close to the sketch, with the exception of placing my strip below the frame instead of on top of it.

I used MFT's new "Picture This" stamp set for the sentiment and various dies for the other elements. The patterned paper was scraps I had used from other projects-something I need to use more of. I used adhesive foam to give the frame some dimension but I am not sure that I like how it came out.

I think my favorite part of this card is the tiny camera. I LOVE this die. I have had it for over a year and think I have only used it once.

I think I will make this a Valentine card and decorate the inside too. However, I will do this later when I figure out whom I want to give the card to.

That is all for today. I have been stamping my heart out this weekend so there will be more to come later on in the week. Thanks for stopping by.
