Happy Father's Day!!!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there!! I know not many read my blog but just throwing it out there!!

My daughter had to work so my husband and I went out to breakfast this morning. Then we went to Home Depot and ripped some boards with a table saw for our deck. It was quite scary as in order to cut them, my husband had to take the safety cover off. I thought he was going to cut his hand off!!! He didn't, though, and he worked on our deck the rest of the day while I cleaned the living room and then cleaned out all the clothes in my closet. This took hours and I gave away a lot but also have a lot. No shopping for me any time soon!!

Today I am popping in to post a card I created for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #490.

I created a Father's Day card for my father. I used Waffle Flower's Home Brew Combo set. I LOVE this set because it is great for masculine cards.

I did take some liberty with the sketch. I used an oval instead of a circle. I also added two rectangle borders. I was inspired to double the border by FMS's DT member's, Narelle Farrugia's. She added double the border to the card she made for this sketch.

The plaid paper is by Lawn Fawn. I have made a goal for the summer to try and use pattern paper on my cards. I have SO MUCH and I keep buying more. I know some people don't love it but pattern paper is a weakness of mine.

I used Wild Honey Distress Ink for the beer color. To make it look like "bubbles," I spritzed it with a fine mister and then blotted the water off with a towel. The "foam" I created by altering a CAS-ual Fridays Stamps cloud die from the Raindrop Duo set.

It is hard to tell in the photos but I added some Gloss White Nuvo Crystal Drops to the foam to give it some dimension. I also did a bit of distressing around the edges with a Tim Holtz Paper Distressor. I used to do this a lot and then fell out of it. However, I love the look and think I will be bringing it back!!

Well, that is all from me today. I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by tonight. Have a fabulous night!!

Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day everyone!!

It is officially summer here in CT and the hot weather is upon us. The humidity is low, something that I am thankful for. It will be a low key day here as Charlotte is at work and Chris doesn't really like to make a big deal out of things like birthdays or Father's Day. (Unlike me who wants to be treated like a QUEEN!)

Just popping in with a "live" post today as I had some time yesterday to whip up some quick cards for some challenges.

My first card is a birthday card for the Paper Craft Crew Challenges. It is late, which is a bummer. I thought I had time but decided to watch a movie with Chris last night instead of posting. Oh well.

This was inspired the Paper Craft Crew Sketch #381, the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge WWC276 Anything Goes with a Masculine Twist and Seize the Birthday Challenge-Anything Goes.

I decided to use my new Home Brew Combo stamp and die set by Waffle Flower Crafts to create my card. I was originally making this for my nephew but remembered as I was finished that I he does not drink beer!!! However, I have a ton of people I can send my card to.

I colored in the beer glasses with Copic Markers and did some ink blending with Distress Inks on the beer bottle (Mowed Lawn) and the icon (Mustard Seed and Wild Honey).

I also flicked some Walnut Stain in the background but the icon covered up most of it.

I die cut the stars from silver mirrored cardstock using the Fun-Fetti Fri-dies from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.

I am not great at making masculine cards so I am so happy how this turned out!!!

For my second card, I used the Waffle Flower Home Brew Combo stamp and die set, as well as the Be a Panda die set to make my husband a father's day card. My husband LOVES pandas so I had to use it. My daughter gave this to him for Father's Day and wrote the SWEETEST note inside!!

Yes, my panda is holding a beer!! My husband LOVES craft beer and likes to try all different kinds so this was perfect for him!!

The speech bubble is a retired die from Simon Says Stamp.

The background was a scrap from My Mind's Eye that is probably about ten years old!!!

I even decorated the inside a bit. Can you tell that I just LOVE this set? I rarely buy from Waffle Flower but when I do, I LOVE what I create!!

That is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. I hope everyone has a FABULOUS day!!!

Try to stay cool!!

Char is now a Senior and a Father's Day Card for Freshly Made Sketches

Happy Father's Day!! It is Sunday and though the weather could be better, I am enjoying listening to my husband playing video games to relax. He works so hard and has traveled A LOT this last month that it is nice to know that he can enjoy himself doing whatever he wants today.

Last night we celebrated Father's Day with my Dad. We went to dinner with my sister and family. I created a card for him using Freshly Made Sketches #292 as my inspiration.

I used Kuretake Gansai watercolor for my blue background and used scraps of blue paper from my scrap drawer to die cut the circles. The sketch below was my inspiration.

I also stamped and die cut images from Altenew's "Best Dad" set for the focal point. This set made it easy to make this masculine card!!

My nephew cracked me up last night asking why I hadn't posted it on instagram yet!!! It is nice to know I have at least one fan!!

To follow me on IG, my name is hobbitnoll. You have to request to follow me, which is kind of a pain, but since I work in a high school I have to be careful. We have a social media policy and students are not supposed to be your "friends" until they graduate.

In other news, I am OFFICIALLY on vacation. Whoot! Whoot!! Charlotte is also now officially a SENIOR and I have to tell you, it is killing me!!

This kid is my shopping partner, my television pal, and the one that I can get to laugh at me when I need it!! It scares me to think that this year will be her last year of high school. How did that happen?

She takes her driving test in a couple weeks and yesterday she drove Chris and I to the Father's Day dinner. (She turned sixteen in December.)

I sat in the back biting my nails the whole time!! Okay, not really but I played on my phone so I didn't pay attention. Chris is the coach in this area. I have no desire to be a driving instructor!!

That is all for today. I am hoping to be blogging more often now that it is summer. I also have BIG plans for learning to do videos. There is a pile of stuff just itching to be used!!

Thank you for stopping by and have a FABULOUS day!!
