Happy Valentine's Day with some Challenge Entries

Happy Valentine's Day!! I hope you are all having a lovely day!! It is cold still here and I am waiting for spring!!

Today I am here with a card I created for two challenges.

Cupcake Inspirations #394 and a sketch #105 from the Fab Friday blog were the inspiration for my card.

I used the Mama Elephant "Incoming Mail" stamp and die set for the panda and all the little letters.

I paired it with sentiments from Lawn Fawn's "Love Letters" set (Valentine's Day) and My Favorite Things "Happy Hedgehogs" set.

I used glossy accents on all the tiny hearts on the envelopes to give them a bit of gloss since they were some of the only color on this card.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Happy Valentine's Day!

Snow Day and an entry for Tag You're It Challenge #63

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous day. I know I did. There was a snow day for us. Really it was ice but I will take the day off any way I can get it!! I was able to sleep in, do a bunch of laundry, work out a decent hour and have some time in my scrap room. I think it was a successful day all around.

Have not been here since the weekend either. Wanted to let you know our concert was fantastic. So different then when I was a kid. It was more then a concert but rather a SHOW. Computer Graphics, video, different stages-just so much fun.

Today I FINALLY finished my entry for the Tag You're It Challenge #63. I have had all the pieces on my desk since Sunday and just never put it all together.

My darling daughter came in to my room today and told me it looked like something you could buy in a store. That made me feel good!!

Here is the inspiration piece for the challenge:

My inspiration from the photo was the white tag and frame, the shaded background (though I did mine in pink) and using an animal like Karin did on her tag.

I started off by making a folded bag using a piece of 11" by 3" piece of pink card stock.

I then used Simon Says Stamp! A2 Card Curved Edge die to make a curve at the top of the card stock.

I then used my scoring tool and scored the card stock the long way at 4", 5 1/4" and then at 9 1/2".

I folded the bag up, inserted a little glassine bag of candy and adhered the bag together.

I then tied my tag on the bag which I created by using My Favorite Things Die-namics Blueprints #4
and their Die-namics Stitched Circle Frames. I shaded inside of the circle with Ranger Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and then used 3L Scrapbook 3D Adhesive Foam Squares to pop the circle frame over the tag.

I stamped and die cut my little panda with Memento “Tuxedo Black” using Mama Elephant's Incoming Mail stamp set and matching die. I colored the image in using Copic Markers and added some Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Marker over the top. To make the hearts stand out, I covered the red hearts in with Ranger Christmas Red Stickles and used Glossy Accents over the top of the. I also added some tiny google eyes.

When the bear was dry, I adhered it to the tag. It still needed something so I added two hearts that I die cut using Simon Says Stamp! Mini Hearts Craft Dies. I adhered them so they overlapped the box and covered them with Stickles and Glossy Accents to match the hearts in the box.

My last step was to tie the tag to the little bag and I was done!! The little bag took me about five minutes to make so I could see me doing a bunch to give away this year.

I am also entering this into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "Everything But a Card" and Darnell's "NBUS Challenge #9." I have had this stamp set for months and have never inked it up!!

I thank you for taking the time to stop by!! Have a FABULOUS Wednesday!!

MFT Happy Hedgehogs and a Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a FABULOUS week. Mine went by fast. Having a day off and then mid term exams will do that to time.

I had a bit of time in my craft room, something that I am "scheduling" into my days so that I MAKE time to do what I love. I have to do this with working out, reading and crafting these days or I won't do it. I have the working out routine down pat and the reading before I go to bed BUT my crafting is always set aside for other things. Making cards and scrapbooking is what makes me happy so if I don't have time, I get cranky!! If I am not crafting, I am coloring in stamped images in when I watch television with my family.

It is so hard to fit in everything you want, isn't it? I plan to add a refresher class in Illustrator soon too. There needs to be more hours in the day or I need to learn to live with limited sleep!

Today I am posting a card I created using My Favorite Things "Happy Hedgehog" stamps/dies. They have been sitting in my box of my stuff to use so I decided to play. Who wouldn't want a cute hedgehog card?

My inspiration for this card is sketch #316 from the MFT Card Challenge Blog. It came together so easily too, which almost never happens!!

I started off by stamping and die cutting the hedgehog, stump and mushroom from the MFT "Happy Hedgehog" set. I then colored the images in with Copic markers.

I attempted to do lines in different colors for a fur effect, as well as make bark on the tree. I think it looks kind of neat. I used a colorless blender for the the effect on top of the acorn. I added some Glossy Accents over certain areas and then set the critter aside to dry.

In the meantime, I covered a white, A2 top folding card with patterned paper from the MFT "Painted Prints Citrus" pad that I had die cut using the "Blueprints # 25" die. I added a white, stitched circle in between the two pattern papers that I had die cut using the MFT "Stitched Circle Frame."

The images were dry by then and I layered the them over my circle, along with the sentiment banner. I then made a HUGE mistake, which just kills me. I should have known better!! I went to darken up the eyes and nose on the hedgehog with a black gel pen and made a large smudge. I didn't want to throw the image away as I had spent a lot of time coloring it in. I added some google eyes to cover it up. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do, right?

My last step was to add a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins around the stamped images.

I am also entering this into Darnell's NBUS Challenge #8. The "Happy Hedgehogs" were new to me AND I used the new technique of doing the bark and the fur.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by today. I hope you have a great day!!

Ink-Memento "Tuxedo Black" and PaperTrey Ink "Smokey Shadow"

25 Tags of Occassion Inspiration and TGIF Challenge #81

Just a quick post so that I can get these challenges that I created this weekend up. I actually had a bit of inspiration!!

The first is my tag that was inspired by Laura's tag from Lil' Inker Designs.

I chose to use a blue and white color scheme rather then red and white. I did not have the products that Laura used so I improvised. I used the "Flurry" Fri-die and the "Tag Buddies" Fri-dies from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps for this tag.

I am entering this in Tracey McNeely's "25 Tags of Christmas" challenge that she has on her blog.
If you have not stopped by, RUN. There are some AWESOME tags on her blog!!

I also made a card for the TGIF #18.

I used My Favorite Things "Soda Pop" stamps and dies to create this. I created the bottles by smooshing distress ink and die cutting with the "Soda Pop" dies.

I had a lot of fun using stuff from my stash on this card. I dug out my Doodlebug Paper Frills in green for the border.

I also used a sticker that I had lying around for the sentiment. It looks wonky in this photo but I fixed it so it is now straight!!

Well, that is all for tonight!! Thank you for stopping by!!

Happy Sunday!!

It is Sunday here and I have spent most of the day in my craft room. I actually got around to photographing some cards I created last weekend. Photo editing is NOT my favorite thing!!!

I have OFFICIALLY put myself on a no buy challenge as I have been spending way too much money again on things I do not really need. I have so much that I have never even touched that it is ridiculous that I buy more. Anyone else like this?

I have been doing Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge at The Daily Marker but have yet to upload any of my stuff. I am slowly going through my stamp sets that I haven't used to make sure they see some ink.

Here are two birthday cards that I made last weekend. One was using My Favorite Things Soda Pop dies, the Bottle Cap dies and matching stamps. I made a TON of smooshed bottles in different colors so you will be seeing more cards from this collection in the future!!

The sentiment strip on the bottom was done by masking and then ink blending. I really love the way it came out!!

I am planning on making a set of these cards to give to someone as I think they are too fun.

My second card I made to send to my friend for her birthday. It is the same design as the card here but I did it in different colors.

I like the original card a lot better as the colors are more me. I created this card to go with a bunch of cards I made for my friend in this color scheme though.

I used Ranger Distress Specialty Paper for the white background. While it took the distress ink nicely, it did not do well with the Distress Sprays. I will not be using it again if I am going to use the sprays on my card.

On another note, I think age is frying my brain lately. We missed my niece's birthday party last night because I put it in my calendar for NEXT weekend. I was sick so we didn't go when I realized my mistake but I feel really bad. I am such a DORK!!

I thank you for stopping by my blog today. Have a great night!!

Stamping Smiles Designs Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #17

Happy September 1st!!! As this is a scheduled post, I am back to work and I wish it was still summer!!! I am such a homebody and just love to be home cleaning, doing laundry, being in my craft room-does not matter what endeavor I choose, I just like to nest.

Today I am sharing my card that I created for Stamping Smiles Designs Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #17.

I chose to use the top row across-window card, critter and sequins. This was a really hard choice, though, because I could have done all of them!!

Here is my card:

The jumping off point for this card was the "critter." I had all the elements stamped, die cut and colored from My Favorite Things "Hog Heaven" set on my desk just waiting for me to use.

I die cut a square using My Favorite Things "Inside Out Stitched Rounded Square Stax" out of the front of a white, top folding, A2 sized card, as well as a piece of white card stock for the inside of my card that measured 5 1/2 by 4 1/4". Then I started to put my card together.

First, I shaded some "Twisted Citron" Distress Ink around the bottom of the square cut outs for both the inside and outside of the card.

I thought it looked a little flat so blended some "Mowed Lawn" Distress Ink over the top, making the darkest part of this darker green around the frame.

For the "sky," I used "Tumbled Glass" Distress Ink to shade some blue over the top part of the frame. I did the same for the inside piece as well.

I then cut a piece of acetate for a "window" and adhered it to the back of the front panel. I then adhered the shaded, white panel over the top.

Next, I used a sentiment from the "Hog Heaven" stamp set and some PTI "Smokey Shadow" ink and stamped it on the front of the card.

I then adhered all my colored images that I had on my desk into a little scene. I used foam adhesive for the pig head and the flowers to give them a bit of dimension.

Isn't he cute? I almost made him a girl but decided that this particular pig looked like a boy.

This is what the inside looks like. The fence is a mirror image and the stamp set has the back of the pig so I thought this was too cute not to use.

My last step was to adhere some "sequins" onto the front of the card, as well as use some "Diamond" Stickles.

It all came together rather quickly, which is rare for me!! Please hop on over to Stamping Smiles Designs Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge Blog to join us. I cannot wait to see what YOU create!

Toodles!

Sunday Stamps #134, Simon Says Stamps Work it Wednesday August 2016 and NBUS Challenge #7

Happy Hump Day!! Just a quick post for a few challenges.

I am officially back to work as of yesterday. Today was the first official day of school for the high school where I work and it went pretty well. If my schedule remains the same, this year will be good.

Today I sharing a card that I created using Hero Arts "Marianne's Flowers" set that I had gotten this past spring but did not ink it up at all. It has the prettiest flowers on it!! I used the Sunday Stamps Sketch #134 as my inspiration.

Here is the sketch:

I began by stamping the lilies on a piece of A2 sized Copic Marker paper with Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink. I then colored the flowers in with Copic markers.

I mounted the panel on an A2 sized, white, top folding card. I then added a piece of green/white twine across the top.

Using the My Favorite Things "Stitched Banner Alphabet," I die cut the sentiment out of green and yellow card stock. I took the green letters out of the green banners and adhered them into the yellow banner pieces.

I then used foam adhesive to pop the alphabet over the twine on the card.

I completed the card by creating two bows out of the twine and using Ranger Multi-Matte Adhesive to adhere them to the card.

I have to admit that this card is extremely simple but I LOVE how it came out. The coloring of the lilies was an experiment. I had looked up a photo and tried to get the colors from there. The greens are really dark but I like it.

I am entering this into Darnell's "NBUS" challenge and Simon Says Stamps August 2016 "Work it Wednesday" theme-stamping.

I thank you for stopping by!!
