CAS(E) this Sketch #165

Happy Easter!! I hope you all had a FABULOUS day. I spent time with some of my extended family, whom I have not seen in a few months.

Yesterday was Chris' birthday. We left him alone to do whatever he wanted to do for the day. He spent it playing video games and relaxing. Love this man!!

We did go out to a local barbecue place that he wanted to go to for dinner. It is cafeteria style and oh so delicious.

This was my meal. I took half home, which will be my lunch at work tomorrow.

Today I am sharing a card I created for CAS(E) this Sketch #165.

I chose to flip the sketch a bit for my design and I am hoping they accent it!!

Here is what the original was:

I probably should have put the circle with the baby sleeper on the right side now that I think of it. I was looking at it the wrong way and just moving the whole border down rather then just flipping it 180 degrees.

Anyway, I needed a baby card to go with a gift I bought for a co-worker so making this is not wasted.

The card base is PaperTrey Ink's Aqua Mist and I layered a piece of Amy Tangerine patterned paper from the "Rise and Shine" collection. I used a My Favorite Things "Pierced Rectangle" to die cut it. I then layered a die cut scrap that I had stamped with a sentiment from Lawn Fawn's "Little Bundle" set.

Using foam adhesive, I layered a white card stock circle over the border strip. I then adhered the little sleeper that I had stamped and die cut from patterned paper, (also from "Little Bundle") as well as used some Studio Nuvo Crystal Drops to make the little white buttons.

My last step was to adhere some sequins around the circle.

I had a TON of fun creating this card and die cut and stamped a TON from this new Lawn Fawn set. I plan to make a bunch of baby cards to have on hand from this set.

Thank you for stopping by!! Have a great week!!

Happy Tuesday!!

I hope everyone is having a great week. Three more days until Good Friday. I love having Friday's off!!

This weekend I watched a really cool documentary on Showtime that has really gotten me thinking. "Finding Vivian Maier" is about this man's search to find this woman who took these negatives that he bought at an auction. He had bought them for a book he was writing but found out they were not right for this publication. He took them out later and what he found was amazing.

These photographs were snapshots of a time gone by. This mystery woman was a brilliant photographer who caught the essence of people, the little moments, good and the bad, the detritus of the time. The movie is this man's journey to find out who this woman was. I am not going to say anymore but I HIGHLY recommend it. I think her photos are so intriguing.

It makes me want to practice my photography skills. I am so impatient, though, and would never dare to do what this woman did to get the shot. Taking photos of the inside of garbage cans, random people, self portraits. I do not have a natural eye for photography, though I wish I did. However, I think that it is something that I will practice when the weather gets nice.

Today I am sharing a card I created using sketch #116 from "CASE This Sketch" blog. I used an elephant from WPlus9's "Unforgettable" stamp set as my main image.

I colored the elephant in using purple Copic markers and stamping hearts over the top using Paper Trey Ink's "Enchanted Evening" dye ink.

It is funny because I have never been a purple person before. All of the sudden I am obsessed with it and cannot get enough!!

I created a totally "fake" shaker card out of this. I basically layered multicolored sequins between two pieces of paper and a piece of acetate. The sequins do move but it is a relatively flat card.

I adhered the elephant onto the card using foam adhesive and added some Wink of Stella over the "baby" die cut to give it a little bit of shine without over powering the card.

This card made me step outside of my comfort zone and it was so much fun!!

I am entering this into CASE this Sketch #116 and Simon Says Stamp "Anything Goes" Wednesday Challenge.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Please check out more photographs by Vivian Maier here.

Finally Friday and Card #5 from "The Mess on my Desk"

Hello!! The weekend is finally here. Whoot, Whoot!! Ok, I shouldn't be celebrating after only starting back to work on Tuesday but I am. I would rather be home having fun in my craft room!

Today is just a quick post with yet another card I created using what was on my desk. It is EXTREMELY simple and literally took 10 minutes to complete.

You cannot tell from the lighting in this photo but the whites really do match!! The die cut lion and sentiment are from Paper Trey Ink's "Sweet Baby" set.

The little banners were cut from scraps of red paper.  I will admit that this is not my most creative card but it works for what I wanted to do. It was the last card I created out of six so I was losing steam.

I want to thank you for stopping by this week to view all of my creations. Have a fabulous weekend and tune into next week for some more cards created from the mess on my desk!!

Case This Sketch #89 from "The Mess on my Desk"

Hello everyone!! It has been awhile since I have posted anything. We took a 10 day vacation to Europe and it took me about a week to recover. We spent five nights in London and five nights in Paris. It was a lot of fun and we saw a lot of things. However, as you know, you cannot see everything. I hope to post some photos later on this week.

Today I am playing along with the Case This Sketch blog and created a card for sketch #89. This is the first card I have made in over three weeks! It was nice to get my creativity on again! I made a baby card.

The jumping off point for this card was the stamped giraffe from PTI's "Sweet Baby" set that has been sitting on my desk for two months. When I create a card, I tend to die cut and stamp more images then I need just in case I make a mistake. Often they get thrown in a pile and are never used. Today I challenged myself to make as many cards as I could and the baby card is just one of six that I created. I could probably make at least twenty or more with my "extras."

Since the giraffe was in blue and had a read heart, I chose to use PTI Spring Rain card stock for the card base. To match the little heart, I chose to use a scrap piece of patterned paper that I cut into a rectangle and rounded the edges.

Over this, I adhered two vellum flowers, a red tag and a stamped banner. The banner I adhered with foam tape because I knew I wanted to tuck at least one sequin underneath it.

My last step was to adhere the stamped giraffe using foam tape. I added a twine bow and a googly eye to finish the card off.

I know these are unusual colors for a baby card but I think it came out nice. Sometimes thinking outside of the box can pan out!!

I am proud to say that everything I used on this card with the exception of the card base was a scrap or die cut that was thrown aside. How is that for creativity?

Here is the sketch that I followed:

That is all for today. Tune in tomorrow for another card "from what is on my desk."
