Take 2 with CAS(E) This Sketch #230 and Sunny Studio

Hello everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday.

I am popping in for a quick post to enter CAS(E) This Sketch #230 with another card.

I used the same stamp set that I used for the card I created on yesterdays post-Sunny Studio "That Sucks" stamp and matching die set. I flipped the sketch, though, for this card.

Like yesterday, I used Pretty Pink Posh's "Storybook #1" die. Instead of doing different colored panels, I shaded white panels in with Ranger "Vintage Photo" Distress Ink.

The background is a scrap piece I had in my drawer. I thought it went perfectly with this card.

That is all from me today and probably for the next week. This week is CRAZY with things to do!!

I hope you all have a FABULOUS Sunday!!

CAS(E) this Sketch #227

Happy Tuesday!! Busy day here. Had to go to the dentist today to get measured for a retainer. Who knew at 48 that my teeth would start moving and I would need worry about my teeth shifting back to a pre-braces spot. I feel like a teen again!!

I also had to bring Zack to the vet. He has not been himself as of late. We are no sooner outside on a walk when he starts panting and cannot keep up with us. (He has been trained to walk by our right side.) Zack also limps a little when he gets up.

He is at least 9 (not totally sure because he is a rescue dog) and I know things do get slower with age. I just don't like to see him like this. They gave him some antibiotics and hopefully these will help make him feel better.

Enough about life!!

Today I am sharing a card I created for CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #227. This came together quick because most of the supplies were right on my desk.

I started off by covering a white, A2, top folding card with a scrap of patterned paper. I then layered a rectangle I had embossed over the front, as per the sketch below.

Next I die cut three frames out of white card stock using My Favorite Things "Pierced Rectangle" frames dies. I adhered them together and placed them over the top of the embossed paper.

I then stamped a sentiment from My Favorite Things "Geometric Greenery" onto a white banner that I had die cut using MFTs "Fishtail Flags Frames" Die-namics. I added it to the card front using foam adhesive.

I adhered a white Simon Says Stamp "Tiny Tags" die cut that was on my desk over the flag and covered that with a Memory Box's "Rhone Butterfly Wings" that I had die cut for a previous project and never used.

To finish off the card, I covered the body and the wings of the butterfly with "Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Marker." I thought that the body melted in to the butterfly a bit too much so I then covered it with Diamond” Stickles.

That is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!

CAS(E) This Sketch #210

It is Wednesday-halfway through the work week and the first day of MARCH!! Yeah!! Spring is around the corner!

Chris is away and Char and I have had a lot of quality time together. She found all her baby home videos this weekend and we have been having mini film fest the last few nights. I love my teenager but so miss my toddler!! Her little giggle, her smile and so full of self confidence. School ruined that giggle, as well as her self esteem. In third grade she stopped laughing because the kids made fun of it. This also chinked her self confidence. Makes me sad and I have shed a tear or two over the last couple of days over it.

Anyway, today I am posting a card I created for CAS(E) This Sketch #210. At first, I was flummoxed by this sketch. Then I looked at tons of CRAP on my desk (it is VERY messy right now) and had a light bulb moment.

Here is the card that I came up with. The frame, the flowers and the leaves were all sitting in a big pile on my desk so this came together so easily!!

Here is the sketch that inspired me:

I started off this card by stamping the leaves from PaperTrey Ink's "The Sweet Life" in "Jellybean" ink from Simon Says Stamp and then layered PaperTrey Ink's "New Leaf" dye ink over it.

Then I stamped the white panel with a sentiment from PaperTey Ink's "Choose Joy" sentiment set. The panel was a scrap from another card where I had used only part of the die cut from PaperTrey Ink's "Pretty Frame Die." I masked the sentiment, using two  ink colors-WPlus9's "Silver Lining" and My Favorite Things "Persimmon." I also used My Favorite Things "Coral Crush" ink to blend on the outside frame.

I adhered the sentiment panel and coral frame to the stamped card front. I then adhered the stamped roses and leaves over the panel. I covered the images and coral frame with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen to give each a bit of shine.

My last step was to adhere a few sequins around the roses. I am SO HAPPY with how this whole card came out. Isn't it pretty?

That is all from me today. I hope you all have a FABULOUS first of March.

MFT Camp Create: Coloring on Kraft and Magnificent Masking with CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #181

Happy Tuesday!! As I write this I am listening to my daughter catch a Pokeman and my husband sighing in disappointment that he didn't get one. He is standing outside at the end of the driveway trying to catch one. Charlotte is beating him and he does not like that!! Sigh.

Now on to why I am really posting!!  I created two cards for for My Favorite Things "Camp Create."

My first card is for Camp Create Day 2: Coloring on Kraft. I used my NEW MFT "Adorable Elephants" stamp set. I was so excited that they finally had it in stock. Now I am waiting for the matching dies to be in stock!!

I did a bit of masking with the flowers and used Prismacolor pencils to color the images in.  I did it in layers. After I was done, I used a black gel pen to go over the stamped lines. I created the grass by using several green pencils and making lines in different directions.

I used a die cut the image with a MFT "Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stax." I mounted the elephant onto an A2 blue card base that had a die cut piece of chevron paper from MFT's "Calm and Cozy Chevron" paper pad. My last step was to adhere some Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins in trios on both sides of the kraft panel.

I started off by masking MFT's "Chunky Herringbone" stencil on a piece of white Bristol Board. I used Post It tape to make off a part of the white background that I wanted to be stenciled. I then used MFT's "Purple Rain" dye ink and blended it in. I ADORE this ink!!!

I die cut the panel with one of the dies in "Blueprints 13" and adhered it to a "Wild Cherry" top folding card base. Next I added some "Purple Rain" card stock strips above and below the herringbone pattern.

I added a Simon Says Stamp! "Hugs" sentiment that I die cut out of "Black Licorice" card stock. I used Clear Wink of Stella over it to give it a bit of shine. I adhered the flowers and leaves from MFT's "Buildable Blooms" stamp and die set in a cluster. My last step was to adhere sequins for the flower centers and dots of Stickles in complementing colors inside the sequins.

That is all for me today. Thank you for stopping by!!

CAS(E) this Sketch #178, MFT Sketch Challenge and a Park Day

Happy Tuesday everyone!! We have been a little busy at our household. I am feeling so much better after surgery. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, thank goodness!!

Charlotte and I had a FABULOUS day together today. She had an MD appointment today so I got her up early and we went to breakfast. After the doctors, we took the dog to the park, walked around and took some photos. It was so much FUN!!! Please note that that this post is picture heavy!!

Zack gave us a hard time when we were trying to take photos of him. We bribed him with cut up carrots but he still wanted to pee on everything rather then get treats!!

Now that she is a teen, Charlotte RARELY lets me take her photo so I had to get in what I could!! If you have a teen age daughter or were one, I am sure you can relate. I know I still hate to have my photo taken.

Now for the real reason I wanted to post!! First, I am sharing a card I created for CAS(E) this Sketch #178. I have been "trying" to clean off my desk by using images that I have colored and die cut and are just sitting there. Does anyone else do this? I am so bad!! So here is the card I created:

Isn't this Mama Elephant bunny cute? I love this set!! Here is the sketch that I used as inspiration for this card:

I decided to use a technique that Dawn Woleslagle, owner of WPlus9 showcased here. Definitely click on the link because it was a FUN technique and was very addicting!!

To start off the card, I blended the green from the "Melon Medley" Kaleidacolor ink pad and "Salty Ocean" Distress Ink on a white card base. I then "stamped" both ink pads separately on an acrylic block, misted water on top and flicked the watered down ink on the card base with a paint brush. I also misted water over the top of the colors too. When the panel dried, I adhered it to a top folding A2 card base.

I then adhered the stump image from Mama Elephant's "Pix's Favorite" set that I had colored in with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating die. I adhered the rabbit from the same set over the stump with foam adhesive. I added the flower, which was a scrap on my desk and is from Sunny Studios "Backyard Bugs" set. The stamped sentiment was the last addition to the card.

I LOVE how this came out and you will be seeing some other cards that I created using this fun technique at a future date.

For the second card today, I used an MFT Card Sketch. I meant to post this yesterday but just was not feeling up to it so I missed the deadline. I am a day late and a dollar short on so much these days!!

Here is the card that I created using the sketch:

I started off the card by masking off a section on white card stock and blending Hero Arts "Soft Pink" dye ink and "Picked Raspberry" Distress Ink. I then misted water, Prima Color Bloom "Chrome" Spray, and "Picked Raspberry" Distress Spray over the front. When everything dried, I adhered the panel over a "Raspberry Fizz" A2 card base.

Next, I stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Thing's "Sweet Succulents" stamp set with PaperTrey Ink's "Smokey Shadow" dye ink. A pinked circle and a pierced circle in white were then adhered to the card. The pierced circle was adhered with foam adhesive to give it a bit of dimension

Images from My Favorite Thing's "Sweet Succulents" set that I had colored in using Copic Markers and die cut using the coordinating dies were then adhered over the circles. A scrap of patterned paper from Basic Grey was adhered below the pink section. My last touches were to adhere sequins in colors that matched the card, as well as using a bit of Diamond Stickles on the cactus flower.

Like my bunny card, this was a lot of fun to create. I used up images and scraps that were on my desk, as well as got messy!!

That is all for tonight. Please excuse the length of this post. Thank you for stopping by!!

CAS(E) this Sketch #174 Guest Designer

Happy Thursday everyone!!

I am so excited today because I was asked to be a guest designer for CAS(E) this Sketch blog!!! Here is the sketch I was asked to use for inspiration:

Isn't it cool? When I first saw it, I knew that instead of stars, I wanted to use snowflakes. I actually made a SHAKER CARD too! I do not usually do holiday cards, let alone shaker cards, but this just screamed Christmas to me and I knew I wanted to make a shaker. Here is what I came up with:

I LOVE aqua and white together so I decided to use this as the color scheme. It helped that I just bought the "Caribbean Dream" sequin mix from Lucy's Cards. I was dying to use it!!

The first thing I did was die cut four snowflakes out of a white piece of card stock. I used CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Flurry" Fri-dies for the large snowflake and Paper Smooches "Snowflakes" Wise Dies for the small one. I set the three small, positive flakes aside because I knew I wanted to use them on the card front. I then used an MFT Blueprints die to cut the panel down to a 4" by 5 1/4" rectangle.

I adhered acetate and a liberal amount of foam adhesive on the back of the card. For the two upper snowflakes I made little "pockets" with the adhesive to fill with the sequins mix.

I then assembled my shaker-adding the sequins and adhering the card to a white card base. I adhered the positive snowflakes and some sequins on the card front as well.

I stamped a sentiment from PaperTrey Ink's "Peaceful Pinecones" set with Hero Arts "Soft Pool" dye ink onto a white strip and adhered it over the large snowflake using foam adhesive. Very simple and believe it or not, fast to put together.

That is it for me today. I thank you so much for stopping by. Be sure to hop over to CAS(E) this Sketch to join in on the fun!!
