A Sympathy Card for CASE this Sketch

Happy Tuesday everyone!! It was a gray day here in CT. After three sunny days in a row it was quite depressing to see gray skies again. The temp was in the high 50's, though so that was a plus. Always trying to find a silver lining in my day when I am feeling glum.

Today I am posting a card that I created using the CASE this Sketch #360 as my inspiration.

Please excuse the photo. I did it quick and because of the gray day, not perfect. Below is the sketch that inspired this card.

I actually had a ton of ideas for this card but chose this one because I wanted to use these white, die cut flowers that have been sitting on my desk. Most are from My Favorite Things and I die cut them this past fall when my husband was away on business. One night when I was bored I pulled out a ton of dies and sat in front of the television die cutting images from white card stock.

The sentiment was from my stash as well. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background stamp set. I had mass produced this as well and it makes it so easy to whip up a card!!!

I was not sure wheat I was going to do after I added the flowers and sentiment but I thought it needed some zing. I decided these sequins from Cartwright's Sequins would the perfect addition.

Well that is all from me today. Again, I apologize for the photography. I did try to fix them but it actually made it worse so I am posting as is!!

I thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog. I hope you have a FABULOUS night!!

Happy Monday and some Christmas Cards

Hi everyone!! I hope the start of your week is FANTASTIC!!!

I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that during this stressful holiday season, take a breath and enjoy the little aspects. I am not fond of the commercial aspect of everything but I do relish having my house all decorated, wrapping my presents up all pretty with beautiful bows, and taking the time to pick personalized gifts to the people that I do buy for. THIS is what makes me happy.

Another thing that makes me happy? Making cards-even if I am not going to send them out this year. Okay, I am going to send cards but home made cards only get sent to a few people. The rest get my photo cards.

Today I am popping in with a few cards I created for some challenges. My first card, I used two challenges as my inspiration.

I used CASE this Sketch #350 as my inspiration, as well as Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge-Traditional Christmas.

This card technique was one I used last year on some cards and one that Kristina Werner demonstrated this year on one of her Holiday Card Making 2019 videos. Hers came out WAY better but I gave it the old college try!!

I added some gold Nuvo drops for "ornaments" across my tree. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I have to admit that this sketch was really hard for me for some reason. I have TONS of stuff but just no mojo? Anyway... it is one more card created for my stash.

My second card is another Christmas card.

This card was inspired by Sunday Stamps #219-Feeling Festive graphic and the Paper Player's Challenge #470 from last week. I made the darn card and never posted it!!

Once again I used my Hello Bluebird Frosty Littles stamp set for the little scene.

The colors were inspired by the colors from Sunday Stamps color challenge and the snowman was inspired by both of the graphics.

I am kind of a dork but wanted to make a kind of "snow globe" effect with the little scene in a circle.

I would say that even though this stamp set is not new, it is new to me and is my favorite this season.

Well, that is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by.

I hope you all have a FABULOUS Monday!!! Don't forget to make someone smile today!!

More World Cardmaking Day Cards!

Happy Monday!! I am here with some more cards I created on World Cardmaking Day. I so wanted to create more than I was able to. I am such a slow card maker!!

For my first card, I used CASE this Sketch #342 as my inspiration.

This was a hard sketch for me for some reason. That huge circle/strip element threw me for a loop!!

I think I successfully solved it by using the leaves and the flower.

The leaves are from a Paper Smooches die, the flowers are MFT and the border is Pink Fresh Studios.

The sentiment is also from MFT but not totally sure. It was a scrap on my desk!!! The striped paper is from my scrap pile. LOVE how this card came out and it is so much prettier IRL.

My next two cards I did were using an ink blending technique and my Stamptember Hero Arts stamp set that I HAD TO HAVE.

Let me tell you the white flowers were a total accident. They were supposed to be black BUT I picked up white embossing powder rather than the clear I thought I did.

Don't care, though, because I LOVE how this card came out!! Used four different blue Distress Inks on this and paired them with a hello die cut from MFT and a Taylored Expressions sentiment.

I think I am in love with solid stamps again and will be using the ones I have in my stash!!!

My second card the silhouette was done in black, like the first one SHOULD have been.

I originally was going to use this for a color challenge card BUT the fourth color that I was supposed to use I just could not do. Instead, I swapped it out for the orange at the bottom. The purples were not Distress Inks and so did not get water spots like I wanted them to.

I had to do a little acrylic splattering on the card front using watered down white paint and a toothbrush to get the messy look I wanted.

The thing that enchanted me about these cards are how quick they came together. I think I am going to stamp a bunch of backgrounds at once and then do some fun blending. I see this as a future card set.

I stacked the WPlus9 hugs sentiment-the bottom being cut from a black piece of card stock-then layering a doubled orange over it, off setting it enough so it looks like a "shadow." I then covered it in Nuvo Sparkle Pen and Glossy Accents.

Well peeps, that is it for me today. I have one more card I created BUT have not photographed it yet. Was just too lazy today to do so. Will blog it later on this week.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS Monday!!

CASE this Sketch Guest Designer #339

Happy Thursday!! I hope your week is going well. Happy for Friday!!

Today I am on the blog with a post for CASE this Sketch #339. I won one of the challenges and as my prize, I get to be a guest designer over on the CASE this Sketch Blog this week!! I am so excited!! I would LOVE to design for this site any day!!!

To celebrate, I chose to create a card to use for a type of celebration.

I used scraps for the layered frames, an Ink Blot Shop sentiment and a Clearly Besotted stamp that was colored in with Copic Markers.

Below is the sketch that I used for this card:

I basically stuck to the sketch, with the exception of making the square into a circle. The heart element would be the margarita.

As per usual, I left it a day and came back and added a few things before I felt it was finished. I used a Memory Box stencil with some Twisted Citron Distress Ink to create some green polka dots behind the stamped piece.

I also covered the cherry with Glossy Accents and used a Nuvo Glimmer Pen on the umbrella in the drink.

I had SO MUCH FUN playing with this sketch and I thank Chrissy Larson and the whole design team for letting me play along today!!!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!!

Cards for Challenges, College Drop Off and Paper Scraps

Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you are all having a FABULOUS weekend!!

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here in CT this weekend, just in time for me to go back to work tomorrow. I had such a great summer and have mixed feelings about going back to work. On one hand, I need some structure again in my life. On the other hand, I am still not ready emotionally for students to come back.

Today I am posting a couple of cards I created today using The Ton's "Sunnies" stamp set. I have had this set in my stash for over a year and thought it would be fun to pull out and FINALLY use.

I stamped the sun glasses with memento black ink and used Copic Markers to color the glasses in. I covered a portion of the glasses with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bright Gold and the whole frame with Glossy Accents.

The inside of the sun glasses were covered with clear Nuvo Aqua Shimmer to give them some shine.

Both the pattern paper and the die cut border are from scraps. I added a bit of glitter paper to give the card a bit more punch.

This card was inspired by CASE this Sketch #336, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Clean and Simple, and Time Out Challenge #142: Fashionable. I think these glasses would be fashionable, don't you?

My second card is a repeat of the first card BUT I used more of a reddish orange color scheme.

You cannot tell in the photo but I embossed the background with a We R Memory Keeper Polka Dot embossing folder.

I added some sequins for a bit of bling on this version of the card.

I really love how both these cards came out!!!

In other news, we dropped my daughter back off college on Thursday. I cannot believe that she is now a sophomore!!!

It seems she had a TON more stuff this year to bring and she forgot things like coats and her toothbrush!!! The traffic was not horrible from CT to DC this year, which I am thankful for. I also was able to catch up with one of my college friend's and her husband while we were down there.

Her room mate did not arrive until today so the room was quite bare. She wanted to wait to decorate with her room mate.

In other news, I have been trying to organize all my paper scraps. My drawers were overflowing so I took the large pieces and cut them into 4 14" by 5 1/2" pieces.

This project has taken me FOREVER as I am doing it while watching TV with my husband. I am keeping smaller scraps in the drawers. I started doing this project because the bigger pieces of paper were getting crushed with all the papers in my drawers!! First word problem!!!

Well that is all from me tonight. I thank you for stopping by. Have a GREAT night!
