Valentine's Cards for CASE this Sketch #208, The Card Concept and MFT's Sketch #319

Happy Saturday!! I hope you had a great day!!

Fighting a bit of a headache today. My sister and I went to see "Lion" today at the movie theatre. It was a wonderful movie but I literally cried through the whole thing. Fabulous performances by Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel but definitely not a "feel good" movie. My face was ugly cry swollen by the end of the film.

Despite my headache, I wanted to post two Valentine cards that I created yesterday. Both were inspired by two different sketch challenges. I have been kind of obsessed with sketches as of late. I find that I like that I can use my own supplies but have fun confining them to the parameters of the sketch.

My first card that I created was using CASE this Sketch #208 as my inspiration. I used my new Sunny Studios "That Sucks" stamp as my focal point for this project.

Here is the sketch that I used as the basic design:

I started off my card by doing an ombre effect using Ranger Distress Inks. I then misted it with water, blotting it off to get the mottled effect. I also did a little bit of ink splattering with some white Distress Spray but it is hard to see as most of it is covered with the stamped image.

Next I stamped my sentiment in black and mounted it onto gray card stock. I adhered it to the middle of a white, A2, top folding card.

I added the black sentiment strip that I heat embossed in white with foam adhesive. I then adhered adorable vacuum that I colored with Copic markers above the sentiment strip. (I actually looked up vacuums to get the color "right" and could have used anything from orange/gray to blue/gray as a color scheme. However, the red and gray was perfect because I knew I was making it into a Valentine.) I used a Clear Spectrum Sparkle Marker on the red bag of the vacuum, as well as some glossy accents on the handle.

I die cut some red hearts using Simon Says Stamps "Tiny Hearts" die and used foam adhesive to adhere them to the card. Once again I added a bit of sparkle to the card using the Spectrum clear marker and then covered them with Glossy Accents to make them shine. I ADORE how this card came out!

For my next card, I was inspired by The Card Concept Challenge #66-"Love and Romance", as well as this weeks sketch from My Favorite Things.

I knew that I wanted to keep a lot of white space on my card to showcase the adorable hedgehog from My Favorite Things "Happy Hedgehog" collection.

Here is the sketch and the photo that were my inspiration.

I started off this whole card by embossing with a retired MFT Cover-up die on white paper. I then die cut the panel and adhered it to a white, A2, top folding card.

I used foam adhesive to adhere the heart and doubled the foam adhesive up to adhere the sentiment.

I used a bit of pink floss underneath the die cut hearts and added Glossy Accents over the hearts for some shine.

Really happy with the way both these cards came out. I only wish I did not wait until the last minute to make them!! When will I learn?

I hope you have a great night!!

Muse Card Challenge #202

Happy Friday!! This week has gone by fast and next week will be busy too. Valentines Day and then my birthday on Wednesday. Chris will be traveling so it will be just the girls. Sometimes that can be fun!!

Today I am sharing a card that I created for Muse Challenge #202.

This weeks Muse was Anita Bowden and her card that inspired my card is below.

I was inspired by bright, happy colors in the stamped background of Anita's card. My card is quite different but sometimes that happens when I CASE a card.

I started off by stamping my flowers and leaves in different spring colors using Simon Says Stamps "Wild Beauty" stamp set. This has been sitting in my stash, just waiting for me to use. Now that I have inked it up, I am not sure why it sat in my pile for so long. It was a lot of fun to use!!

When I was done stamping, I die cut the card base using Mama Elephant's "All Prettied Up" dies. I then mounted it onto a top folding, A2, coral color card.

I die cut the black sentiment using a My Favorite Things "Thank You Die-namics" (retired) and covered it with sparkle using a Spectrum Clear Marker. I then stamped the "you" with Simon Says Stamps "Thanks" stamp set.

I finished off the card using Stickles and Nuvo Crystal drops in the flowers.

Well, the card does not look like Anita's card but it WAS inspired by her card. Totally a fun card to create!!

I thank you for stopping by today. Have a WONDERFUL day!!

A Card for the Flower Challenge #5: CASE our Guest Designer and Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge

Hello everyone!! It is a snow day here and I am having fun in my craft room. I should be making Valentine's but instead I did a challenge.

Today I am playing with "The Flower Challenge" blog. Challenge #5  is to CASE the guest designer. Here is my card:

Here is the guest designer, Therese's card. Isn't hers beautiful?

I was inspired by several things on this card. First, the die cut rose. I also liked how she used ink on the bottom of the word, as well as the pretty colors behind the roses.

My first step in making my card, I used Paper Smooches "Roses Wise Dies" to die cut a large rose and the matching leaf out of Neenah "White" card stock. I taped the rose die back in the panel but left where the leaf was to go back in blank.

I then used Simon Says Stamps "Stitched Rectangles" to die cut the panel and covered the back with foam adhesive. I placed the white card stock over an A2 sized card front that was covered with a piece of Fancy Pants patterned paper. The paper was a bit brighter then the inspiration piece but since it had rich, beautiful colors on it, I decided to use it.

Next I die cut the "wish" sentiment using PaperTrey Ink's "Good Times" die and blended Hero Arts "Raspberry Jam" ink over the bottom half of the word. I adhered this over the card front, adding an enamel dot over the "i."

The card front looked a little bland so I added some clear, iridescent sequins around the sentiment and covered the rose with a little sparkle using a Spectrum "Clear" Sparkle marker.

This was actually a quick card to put together once I found the right dies to use and the fun patterned paper to go behind the die cuts.

Once again, I am entering this card into "The Flower Challenge #5: CASE our Guest Designer." I am also going to enter this into the Happy Little Stampers Challenge-"Anything Goes with Dies." The paper behind looks like a watercolor though I did not paint it myself!

Before I go I have to show you a photo of my dog going outside to do his business. He was NOT a fan of this huge snowfall!! I had to shovel him a tiny path down our deck while the storm was still going on because he was too short to get through more then a foot of snow.

He is looking at me like "Really Mom?" Too funny!!

I thank you for stopping by tonight. I hope you are tucked in and staying warm on this winter Thursday.

Friday Inspiration File Challenge

Happy Sunday everyone. I am sure you are all busy watching the Super Bowl. I despise football, so I am spending it in my craft room blogging my entry into K and R Designs Friday Inspiration File Challenge. (My husband does have the game on in the living room but I could care less who wins.)

Every Friday Kara shares her favorite projects online that she has seen that week. It is always so fabulous to see what she picks. She is celebrating week 300 with a challenge to pick a card from her inspiration file and CASE it.

Today I am sharing a card that was inspired by this card on Tracey McNeely's blog, "In My Creative Opinion." Her card was shown on week #299. Yes, I could have gone further into Kara's Friday Inspiration File to CASE a different card but I saw Tracey's card last week and knew I HAD to make one like it.

Here is what I came up with:

Tracey use a Sugar Peas Design stamp and die set for her card but I do not own that set. Instead, I used the envelope from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps new "Special Delivery" stamp set. I also used pink accents rather then red accents like Tracey did.

I stamped the envelope with Memento "Tuxedo Black" dye ink across a strip of Neenah "White" card stock. I had to do a bit of masking but since I had previously used a masking technique with this stamp, it came about pretty quick. The middle envelope was fussy cut and colored in using Copic markers. I then used foam adhesive to give it a bit of pop.

I used the Lawn Fawn "Stitched Scallop" border die to die cut a pink striped pattern paper scrap and used it to edge the stamped strip. Next I adhered the framed strip to a white, top folding A2 card. I stamped the sentiment last using CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Heartfelt Sayings" set in Simon Says Stamps "Cotton Candy" ink.

Here is Tracey's card that I CASEd:

This challenge was so much fun. I liked seeing a card and using supplies that I had on hand rather then copying the card exactly. (Though if I had this set, I would copy it. It ROCKS!)

I am also entering this into Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge-"The Color of Love." I think this fits, don't you?

I thank you for stopping by tonight. Have a great night!!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Sneak Peek Day Four and Release Day!

Hello everyone!! Today the new release from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps goes live!!! However, I have one last sneak peek to share with you.

Today I am excited to showcase two new stamp sets-"Full on Floral" and "Daisy Chains"- from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

On the first project, I used the new "Full on Floral" stamp to create the background on a card.

I started out by stamping in persimmon ink on a white, A2 card base. I then layered a piece of matching card stock over the stamping-using just a paper cutter to make it this wonky shape.

Next I stamped the sentiment in the same ink color from "Franklyisms" on the corner of a white piece of card stock. I used my paper cutter to make it a bit smaller then the persimmon card stock and adhered it over it so that the red/orange paper was peeking out from the bottom.

My last step was to adhere some matching sequins around the sentiment.

Here is a peek at the stamp:

I LOVE this fun background and plan to make a set of cards to give to one of my friends for her birthday using some of the fun new sentiments from this release.

On my next card I used the new "Daisy Chain" stamp set.

I started off my card stamping one of the borders onto a white piece of card stock in different colors of ink.

I made sure that when I changed each color, I moved the border over so that the bottom of the flowers tucked in to an empty space that was left from the one below it. I then stamped the sentiment from "Heartfelt Sayings" in black ink.

I used the smallest tag from "Tag Buddies" to cut out the sentiment. I layered the white base over some brown card stock.

I wrapped the tag with some jute and used foam adhesive to make it pop off the white panel.

The last step was to adhere some sequins in matching colors over the card.

That is all from me today. All the new stamps that were showcased in my last four posts are available at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Shop starting today!! Want a discount? Use my code nora2017 to get 15% off your total order!!
