World Cardmaking Day and Guest Designer at Just Us Girls #604 with a Halloween Card

*Some Affiliate Links are used in this post. Please see my Affiliate Link Policy.

Hi everyone!! I hope you all are doing well. Are you all playing along today with challenges in honor of World Cardmaking Day?

For this month I am a guest designer at Just Us Girls Challenges Blog. I am so excited!! This week the theme is Halloween and I created my card in honor of this "holiday."

Below is the graphic for the challenge.

I started off my card by using some Distress Ink in *Twisted Citron and *Mowed Lawn. I then misted some *Twisted Citron Distress Stain, *Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Stain and Distress Mica Spray in Bubbling Cauldron over my ink blended panel.

While that was drying, I used the Elizabeth Craft "Pumpkins" to die cut scraps of orange, black and green papers for my pumpkins.

Before I put my Jack-O'-Lanterns together, I blended *Vintage Photo Distress Ink on all my die cuts.

I adhered the dried white panel to a green A2, top folding card base. I added my die cuts and then stamped a sentiment from MFT's "Witch Way Candy" stamp set and it was done.

I hope you like my card and please join us this week over at Just Us Girls for the Halloween Challenge!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a FABULOUS day!! I hope you all are able to have some fun today on World Cardmaking Day.

A Few Cards for the Online Card Class on Crushing Cardstock

 Hey Friends!!

Just popping in really quickly today to post three cards that I created for last weeks Online Card Class--Crushing Cardstock. I was not able to complete all the homework for the class this weekend as was planned. Cleaning my house got in the way!!! However, I did create a few cards to post.

My first card was inspired by Cathy Zielske's Day 1 class. I created a simple card by using the Altenew embossing folder *Ranunculus Bouquet 3D and some blue cardstock.

I then went above and beyond by using some Hero Arts *Unicorn White pigment ink over the top of the embossed image.

I added a white die cut sentiment that was cut using the Papertrey Ink Big Hugs Die

My last step was to adhere some pearls around the image in random places. This was a fun card to make and I love the simplicity of it.

I am going to enter this into this weeks Simon Says Wednesday Challenge-Anything Goes.

My second card was from a Day 1 lesson by Caly Person

It was to weave cardstock strips together. I used strip dies from The Stamp Market to die cut various colors of purple cardstock, in a few sizes. I then wove them together to make this background. This was kind of time consuming to do but fun. I have a bunch of extra strips to make other creations at a later time.

I added my woven panel to a white card base and added a Pinkfresh Studio *Curvy Leaves die cut to the card. I covered the die cut with a *Clear Brush Marker for some sparkle and shine.

I added a Prima Ephemera Flower from the *Watercolor Floral Collection over the leaves. The color matched the cardstock I used PERFECTLY!! I used Nuvo English Mustard Crystal Gloss Drops to punch up the flower center a bit and my clear brush marker over the flower.

The sentiment is from my stash. I believe it is by Taylored Expressions but not sure.

This was a fun technique and I think I would like to try it with either some smooshed colored cardstock or ink blending. I would have to have a bit of time, though, because weaving is a slow task. I am not a patient person so this was a stretch for me.

My last card that I am posting is from Day 2. Yana Smakula made some cards with some rays. I happen to have these *Color Block Slices by Spellbinders (presently on sale) and I pulled them out for the first time.

I literally went through my scrap drawer and pulled out various scraps in the same color family to use on this card. I then die cut my rays.

On some of the rays, I used various embossing folders that I had. (The stripe is from JoAnn's, the Dotted Flower Rings are by Sizzix and the lace is a Tim Holtz Alterations *Lace Texture Fade Embossing Folder)

Over my rays I adhered a Flower Cluster Wafer Die by Simon Says Stamps over the rays. The sentiment was die cut using The Ton's Bold General Greeting dies with *Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and Clear Brush Marker covering the top of each letter.

I adhered pearls from Mint Leaves Pearl Mix from Kat Scrappiness over the card front as a last touch. They are a mix of teal and green and I think punched this up just a bit. I had never seen pearls like this before and was glad that I had bought them.

I am going to enter this card into the Paper Players Challenge #556, which is a tic-tac-toe challenge. I used the left column-feminine, birthday, floral-as the inspiration. I am also going to enter this into this weeks Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #413-Birthdays.

This class was  a lot of fun and I encourage anyone from beginners to sophisticated card makers to take it. There are a few more techniques I am going to try but just need the time to actually attempt them. I wish I didn't need to work!!

Well, that is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS night!!!

Day 2 of July 2021 CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Release-Jewish Stars Stencil

Hello everyone!! It is Day 2 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps release and I am posting a card I created using the NEW *Jewish Star Stencil

I created my background by stenciling with *Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink and the *Jewish Star Stencil onto an A2, white card base.

I then added a white die cut circle over the top. I covered some of the stars using a *Clear Glitter Brush Marker and others with some *Glossy Accents.

I die cut Happy Chanukah out of white and Tonic *Blue Metallic cardstock using the *Happy Hanukkah Dies. I adhered the two layers together using *Ranger Multi-matte and then adhered the sentiment to  card front.

My last step was to adhere some sliver sequins around the die cut sentiment.

The Jewish Stars Stencil, as well as the entire release, is now for sale in the NEW section of the *CAS-ual Fridays Shop. Please use my code NORASENTME for 15% off your entire purchase, including sale items!!!

Quick Pop In

Hello everyone!! This is my second post for today. I wanted to pop in with some cards I created for some challenges.

My first card was inspired by two challenges.

I used the badge from the Global Design Team Project #288 as inspiration, as well as Just Us Girls Challenge #581

I used the way the designer created the background as the inspiration for my background. Instead of watercolor, I did some ink blending with Distress Inks. I also used a little critter like the designer. The whole little "garden" scene form the Just Us Girls badge is what inspired my whole scene on my card.

All these images are from Hello Bluebird. I had colored them in at an earlier date and then went through my stash to find the images I wanted to use.

My sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

For my second card, I used a sketch from Pinterest and the current color scheme from The Color Throwdown Challenge.

I chose to use the colors, as well as the stripes from the photo as my inspiration.

At first I wasn't sure what I was going to use for my banners. I decided to die cut them out of white cardstock and use different colored inks. I did not have the exact shade for the last color so I used the second colored stripe combined with some brown.

I added some leaves from a Mama Elephant die set. I used a clear shimmer pen to make them a little bit shiny.

The sentiment is from the same Simon Says Stamp set as the first card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Simon Says Stamps Tiny Words, Hello Bluebird Field Mice, Strawberry Jam, Fairy Garden and Garden Friends
Ink: Salty Ocean, Squeezed Lemonade, and Twisted Citron Distress Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black, MFT Peach Bellini (retired), GKD Peach Bellini, MFT Coral Crush (retired), Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Dies: Banners-MFT (retired), Lawn Fawn Rectangles, Hello Bluebird, Mama Elephant Botanic Envelope

Well that is all from me today. Thank you for taking the time to stop by!! Have a great night!

On the Blog at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

I am so happy for today because the week is almost over AND I am getting my hair dyed today. I have so much gray showing and it is driving me CRAZY. It makes me look old and I dislike that immensely! Nothing makes me feel better then getting my hair done. That makes me sound like an old lady, doesn't it? I always feel like a new woman after going to the salon.

I am popping in today with a sneak peek of the card I created for the CAS-ual Fridays Blog today.

I have been combining old and new products and this was fun to create. Please hop on over and check out my post.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. I hope you have a FABULOUS day!!!

A Fun Weekend and Some Cards

Hi everyone!!! I hope you are having a nice Sunday. The sun is out here and I started my day off with a walk with my neighbor. The temperature is a little chilly but the sun just makes it so worth it.

I am going to share a couple cards today. I apologize to you in advance that they are all sympathy cards. I know people hate making them but I find them so peaceful to create. That is weird isn't it?

I used The Stamp Market's Ready to Bloom Card Cover Die for the white flowers. I used Nuvo Crystal Drops in Crushed Grape Gloss for the flower centers.

I stamped a sentiment from Your Next Stamp onto a die cut oval (retired MFT die) and heat embossed with Rangers Silver Tinsel Embossing Powder

I used a PTI embossing plate to emboss the paper under the flowers and combined sentiments from two different sets on the inside of the card.

I am going to enter this card into The Flower Challenge's #54: Shades of Purple and Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge: Beautiful Blossoms.

My second card I used the same basic supplies as my first card.

I changed up the sentiment and used My Favorite Things Deepest Sympathy Stamps and heat embossed with WOW! white embossing powder. I stamped this on a Pinkfresh Studio's Braided Oval that I die cut from purple cardstock.

I used yellow Nuvo Crystal Drops in Dandelion Yellow for the flower centers.

Again, I used the same sentiment stamps for the inside of my card but added a die cut rick rack to hide an ink spot. I was not going to throw it away!!

I am entering this card into The Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #310, All About Occasions and The Paper Players Challenge #531: Spring is in the Air.

My next card is a card I made for someone who lost her baby recently. I was not able to go to the wake as I was not feeling well but I wanted to make sure that she knew how much I cared.

I used Spun Sugar Distress Ink to blend behind the Hero Arts Angel Wings

I used foam adhesive to layer the heart over the wings and added some Prima flowers that I have had FOREVER over the heart. I created leaves using the small flower from CAS-ual Fridays 4 Petals Die

The heat embossed sentiment strip is from Taylored Expressions.

Some fun things to blog about after my sympathy cards is that I went to a "Zoom" birthday party last night. They hired a virtual mixologist and we made drinks.

Before the party we had a shopping list for things to buy. We are not heavy drinkers so we had a lot to purchase!!! It was a lot of fun and a different idea to make everyone interact virtually.

I also received some purchases this week. I had sold some stuff on Ebay last year and bought myself a 72 ink pad storage from Organize More

I had ordered it a while ago and of course it came when Chris was home alone. I hate when that happens!! I just need to reconfigure my desk so I can put my ink pads in it. I am so excited!!!

I also received an order from Simon Says Stamp. I am a little mad at myself for this one. I am supposed to be on a spending freeze but it IS NOT GOING WELL!!!

A couple things are missing from this photo too that I forgot to put in there.

Well, that is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS night.
