Some Challenge Cards

Happy Monday, or Happy Memorial Day as it is in the U.S.

This weekend has been SO NICE!! It was perfect weather and really relaxing. After a rough week, this was needed.

Today I am posting a couple cards that I created for some challenges. One I meant to post yesterday but just didn't feel like being on the computer since it was so nice out.

I created my first card using this past weeks Freshly Made Sketches #389 and Fab Friday's #164 Color Challenge as my inspiration.
I used my Stampin Up!'s "Dear Doily" stamp set and matching die set for this card. I did not have Pear Pizazz and Flirty Flamingo ink so I used pink markers. Now that I look at it, the Flirty Flamingo is more coral and mine is more pink. I am going to enter it anyway!!

I have not used rubber for a long time and I forgot how fun it is to color!!

The sentiment is from Paper Trey Ink and stamped with Soft Sea foam.

My second card, I used CASE this Sketch #323, Water-cooler Wednesday Challenge #222 and Seize the Birthday as inspiration for a belated birthday card.

I used a stencil from Simon Says Stamp that I used Distress Ink on in three different purples.

I staggered the balloons on the right side in place of the diamonds on the sketch. I did some masking with the stamped sentiment, which is from Paper Trey Ink.

The die cut "birthday" is from Mama Elephant. I used some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer and Glossy Accents over the top of the black die cut.

I love how this came out. I should have made several of these as I am AWFUL at sending out cards on time!!

So that is all from me today. Tomorrow I will be back with some graduation cards I created for some family members.

I thank you for stopping by. Have a FABULOUS day!!

Some Birthday Cards for Some Challenges

Happy Saturday everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying this day off!! It is not great weather here in Connecticut. Unfortunately the forecast for the next ten day is very dismal and I am so looking forward to spring. I want to plant my flowers!!

Instead of being outside, I was able to create a couple of cards in my craft room for some challenges. Both cards are the same design but I switched it up with the colors.

For the first card, I made it more girly using yellow and greens as the main colors.

I used My Favorite Things Birthday Cake Die-namic to cut out scraps of yellow pattern paper to form the cake. Green scraps were cut for the icing.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #385 and this weeks Color Throwdown #540 for my card designs.

I swapped the rectangle in the sketch out for my cake. The sentiments on the circle I masked out to get the exact words I wanted.

The darker blue color was hard for me to figure out on this card so I decided to make it the candles. I should have also done the sentiment but was too lazy to go back and fix it.

For my second card, I used the both challenges, as well as Seize the Birthday Challenge #164-Anything Goes, no topping. I made the exact same card but die cut different scraps I had in my stash.

I also used a different sentiment stamp but again, had to do some masking to fit it into a circle.

Both cards are a bit on the bright side and I did not do this on purpose. I think it is my unconscious telling me I want spring weather!!

That is all from me today. I thank you for stopping by. Have a FABULOUS night!!

Another Creative Weekend

Hi everyone!! I am popping back on to the blog to show case a few more cards I created this weekend. That is two in a row where I ACTUALLY HAD MOJO!! Whoot Whoot!! It happens so rarely with me that it makes me giddy.

That said, I also need time to clean my craft room. It looks like a tornado came into my room and there is stuff EVERYWHERE!!

Onto my cards!! The first card I used the Addicted to CAS Challenge #157- Fluffy, as my jumping off point for my card.

I am hoping that this card is clean and simple enough to even participate in this challenge!! I used Copic markers to color in this adorable panda from Gerda Steiner Designs "Lovely Panda" set.

I experimented in trying to make the bear look fluffy by using tiny flicks with my marker. I am actually happy with the way it turned out.

The sentiment is not how I originally planned it. I wanted it to be right on the card front BUT when I stamped it, I got distracted and it came out crooked. I hate to throw anything away so I just added a card strip with the sentiment on it over the top of my mistake.

I am entering this into the Addicted to CAS Challenge, as well as Just Us Girl's Challenge, Birthday and Seize the Birthday Challenge, no topping.

For my next card, I used the quilt from the "Inspired by" Challenge and the butterflies from The Paper Players Spring Theme challenge as my starting off point.

The great thing about this card is all the paper strips I die cut for the front were SCRAPS from my drawer!!

I could see this as a strip quilt, couldn't you? It was so fun to make that I cut more strips from the same papers to create another card but have not gotten around to that yet.

The butterfly and the doily were even left overs from another project. I always stamp or die cut more then I need because I am a person whom makes MANY mistakes.

I just stamped this today and I cannot even tell you what stamp I used for the sentiment. I have so many sets everywhere that I cannot find it!!

Well, that is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by and visit me today. I hope you all have a FABULOUS night!!

A Birthday Card for a Couple of Challenges

Hello everyone!! Just popping in today to show you a super quick card I created using pattern paper and a couple CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. I am not on the blog or anything, just using some odds and ends to get things done.

The inspiration for my card was the sketch #166 from the Global Design Project.

I have needed birthday cards up the wazoo this month so this was a fabulous sketch to use for my card.

I started off by layering a pattern paper scrap over a teal card base. The paper is from Scenic Route-a company that is no longer around. I have been attempting to use pattern paper more on my cards as I have a TON and it can really make a card easier to make.

Over the pattern paper, I added some embossed paper that Michele Ferguson had sent me eons ago.

I used an old PTI die to create the orange border and stamped the sentient with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink using the Whole Shebang stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.

The orange present was stamped awhile ago with CAS-Fridays Partridge in a Pear Tree and fussy cut out. I had colored it in with Copics and added some Nuvo Ripened Pumpkin Crystal Dots for some interest. I popped it up on the card using adhesive foam.

This whole card took me about ten minutes to complete because I used the patterned paper and only really had to stamp the sentiment. Everything else was scraps or in my stash.

Just wanted to let you know that CAS-ual Fridays Stamps is having a retirement sale going on right now.

There are some FABULOUS sets still available. Hop on over and snap them up before they are gone!!

I am also entering this card into the Seize the Birthday Challenge-no toppings.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Have a FABULOUS night!!

Freshly Made Sketches #241, Seize the Birthday Challenge and a Bit About Me

Happy Sunday everyone!! It is Father's Day in the states but since my husband is a Type A personality, he has been busy doing chores all day!!

I have been off for a whole week now and my vacation is not going as I had planned. I wanted to do a ton of little projects in my house, as well as have more fun doing blog challenges but it just has not worked out that way. Isn't that how it always is?

We did go away last weekend, so that did not help but had a fabulous and a much needed get away to see family in upstate NY. We laughed the whole time and it was so much fun!

Tomorrow I go in to fix a complication that was a result of major surgery that I had in October. It is not supposed to be as long a recovery but I am nervous none the less. For those of you that say prayers, please put me on your list that everything goes well!!

I did get in the craft room a tiny bit this week and played along with Freshly Made Sketches Blog with Sketch #241 and Seize the Birthday Blog-Theme: Anything Goes. It felt so good to get my hands dirty again!!

I actually created two cards for this challenge. Here is my first card:

This card started because I wanted to use my new Lawn Fawn "Let Me Smile" die. I paired it with some Echo Park "Party Time" papers and stickers, as well as CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "Shenanigans" stamp stamp set for the sentiment.

I added some paper behind the smile on the little face, as well as Nuvo Crystal Drops in black for the eyes. To make the hat sticker more festive, I added Stickles in Peacock Blue.

I even created a festive inside panel:

My next card was one of the EASIEST cards I have created in a very long time.

I mainly used Echo Park Party Time "Elements Stickers, " as well as the matching 6" by 6" paper pad.

I added some Stickles in different colors to give the top of the cup cake a little bit of sparkle.

I need to make more cards like this for my stash!!

Again, I am entering this card into the following two challenges:

Thank you for stopping by!! Have a great night!!

Runway Inspired Challenge #73 and Seize the Birthday

Happy Thursday!! I am so happy that tomorrow is Friday and the weekend will be here. It has been a looooonnnngggg week here. Dreary and cold, with rain. It makes me tired!!

To cheer me up, I decided to do the Runway Inspired Challenge #73. In fact, I had so much fun with this challenge that I actually made TWO cards. Unheard of for me!! (Usually once one is done, I am not inspired and then have to move on.)

The inspiration photo was from Balmain's spring 2015 line. The photo is from Style.com.

I knew immediately what I wanted to do after seeing this photo. I recently bought a Paper Trey Ink cover plate that I wanted to use.

Instead of using horizontally, I flipped it vertically and die cut red, yellow, blue and yellow card stock. This is my first card:

I used the red die cut and then inserted the three other colors inside to mimic the stripes in the dress. Next I added a vellum die cut that was lying on my desk. To add the color black, I chose to use the Mama Elephant "Happy Script" die to cut the black sentiment out. I also added a stamped "birthday" over the die cut using foam adhesive.

My last step was to use another Mama Elephant die to die cut the circles out of glitter paper.

I like this card but the red was just a little too overpowering to me. My next card I toned the colors down a bit and used black as the main color for the background.

I then die cut the "happy" out of yellow and used white embossing powder on black card stock for "birthday." Next I added the panda so that it looked as if he was standing on the "happy" die cut.

The last step was to add the heart die and the different colored sequins. I am planning on giving this to my daughter for her birthday on Sunday.

I am also entering this into "Seize the Birthday-Anything Goes" challenge.

I thank you for stopping by today. Have a great Friday!!
