Thursday with Simon Says Stamp's "Time for Wine" and Mojo Monday Sketch

Happy Thursday!! I hope you are all having a wonderful day and the new year is treating you right.

During my dry spell last month, I entered some contests at a couple blogs and won some prizes. I though I would share them here with you.

The first one I won was from a "A Blog Named Hero." I commented on a card by Beverly, which I LOVE. She was so nice to send me the card as well as some yummy goodies. I cannot wait to sit down and color this stamps and use the fun gold goodies!!

Then I had another wonderful surprise of winning a prize for Uniko Studios blog hop. This is an English stamp company that I drool over. The owner, also a Beverly, sent me these adorable stamps. I will definitely be using these soon as I make my Christmas cards for next year!!

Then I received a nice surprise from Taunya Butler that blogs at Daisies Girl. She sent me that adorable card and some Simon Says Stamps dies. Wasn't that sweet?

Okay, now for a card I created using a Mojo Monday Sketch and my newly used Simon Says Stamp "Time for Wine" stamp and die set.

The sketch #478 was PERFECT to use with the sentiment and images from this SSS set.

As I do with a lot of my stamp sets, I stamped a ton of images and then colored them in all at the same time. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for all the wine bottle, glass, and leaves on my card.

I used a piece of Heidi Swapp striped paper left over from the card I posted yesterday and some patterned paper from the "Love Notes" collection by We R Memory Keepers that I bought last year. I thought the black and white color scheme was perfect with the purple.

The sentiment was stamped with Paper Trey Ink's "Simply Chartreuse" dye ink, as it matched the leaves perfectly.

When the card was completed, added some sequins randomly around the card.

I am entering this card into A Blog Named Hero's "New to Me" challenge as well as the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge "Start Afresh." Both the paper and the stamp set are things that I have never used before this week.

That is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS Thursday!!

First Post of the New Year and Some Cards

Happy New Year everyone!! I know I am four days too late but I think that is still okay to say, right?

You can hear echoes on my blog over the past month. The holidays kicked my butt and if that didn't take up my time, Charlotte wound up being sick right before Christmas and stayed out of school for a couple days.

Our Christmas was wonderful and we spent time with some of my family. Is it weird that I want to share this with you? I should have posted last week and it might be more relevant!!

Char in front of our tree before we unwrapped our presents. I didn't even gussy up my daughter and my husbands present as I usually do. I only did it for friends as I just didn't have the energy. I think I am going to wrap as I go along next year. Anyone do this?

Me and Charlotte at my sister's house. Trying to just be and not bother if the "perfect" photo is taken of me or not. One of my good friend's lost their mother last week and it just hit home having the photos is more important then looking perfect!

My nephews and niece with Charlotte.

I bought the game "Shut Your Mouth" and we had so much fun playing it with the family on Christmas day. Nothing but laughs!! I even have my Dad on video and it is something I will cherish!!

Charlotte and my niece. Cannot believe how grown up they are!!

Now for some cards!! To be honest, I have NOT been creating in a prolific way as of late. Me and my mojo had not been meeting up at the same time. When I wanted to create something, I didn't have the time. When I had the time, my mojo was no where to be found. I did do A LOT of shopping but THAT is a whole different post!

Anyway, on Monday I created a couple cards for some sketch challenges but as I always do, I never photographed them in time to submit. I decided to post them anyway.

I created this card using Freshly Made Sketches #268 as my inspiration.

I know, I know, it is a Christmas card BUT in my defense, I only created about five holiday cards this Christmas and decided I was not going to wait to the last minute to make Christmas cards in 2017. I used up ALL of the photo cards I ordered that I send out to close family/friends this year and resorted to having to send out some pre-made cards to a few people and was horrified! I also wanted to use this stamp set from Hero Arts called "Kelly's Noel." I bought it in November 2015 and NEVER INKED IT UP!!

Another thing I decided to start doing is to use patterned paper more on my cards. I have a ton but for some unknown reason in my head, I hoard it!! This paper is "Merry Little Christmas" from My Mind's Eye that I "think" I bought last year? I only have about ten 6" by 6" pads full of Christmas paper so who knows!!

I love the pink and green together. I think this kind of Christmas card is good because it is simple enough to be able to do in assembly line style and rather flat so it mails well.

For my next card, I used a sketch #157 from "Match the Sketch" Challenge Blog.

I used the Simon Says Stamp "Time for Wine" stamp set and dies that has been sitting on my desk for months.

I decided to experiment with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for these fun images. I then covered many of them with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Marker and Glossy Accents. The Glossy Accents made the color run a bit but I think it looks kind of cool.

I used some Heidi Swapp patterned paper that I have been saving for the background. I like the black with the purple. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches "Free Spirits" stamp set. I needed something small enough to fit on the end of the flag and this was perfect.

I adhered one wine glass and the leaf with foam adhesive and the rest of the stamped images with Ranger Multi-Matte. The sequins were my last touch. I actually was only going to use three BUT I got a black smudge on the white banner where the big sequin is to the right. The addition of yet another sequin covered the boo boo right up!!

I love how this card came out and will share another card I created with this same set tomorrow.

Well, that is all from me tonight. I thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog. As always, your visits are appreciated.

Have a FABULOUS night!!

Fab Friday #107

Hello! I am here today with yet another card that I created this weekend. Again, I used stuff on my desk to layer together using the "Fab Friday" Sketch #107 as my inspiration.

I think I have said this before that I am having fun with sketches as of late because you can use any kind of product on them. I would love to do some color challenges but find them really...um, challenging.

I used Simon Says Stamps "Time for Wine" stamp and dies to create my card. I colored a bunch of these images in awhile ago and never used them. I don't know why I am obsessed with this set but I am. It is not like I send out wine cards that often. (I could, though. I have A LOT of friends who enjoy a nice bottle, oh I mean a glass of wine!!)

The sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink's "Fillable Frames #5." I have used this sentiment a ton because it just seems to go with everything!! I also stamped a matching envelope for this card. This is my new "thing!"

I used Glossy Accents and Spectrum Clear Sparkle Marker over these elements. The doily is a retired MFT die.

Here is the sketch I used:

This is one of those sketches I could have made a ton of cards from. I think I might duplicate this card with some purple wine images I have from my last color spree. (though it is purple and wine is not purple!)

Here is another angle of the card. I cannot tell you how much I love how this came out!!

Well, enough of me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Comments are always welcome!!

Sunday, Sunday and ANOTHER card using Simon Says Stamp "Time for Wine"

Happy Sunday!!

We finally had some snow that stuck yesterday. I stayed in my pajamas and did a bit of crafting, though I was supposed to go to the gym but I put it off. My daughter and my husband were at robotics and I decided that I would enjoy my time alone-something I rarely get these days!!

My method of stamping is different these days. I take a LONG time making cards so often I stamp a TON of images on a piece of paper and then color them in while I am watching television with the family. This way, I still spend time with them but then I also can do what I like to do. It is a win/win situation!! That being said, I often color more pieces then I use and then they just sit. I decided that 2017 is the year I will be using what I spent all the time on coloring!!

Today I am showcasing a card where I used Simon Says Stamps "Time for Wine"stamps and dies. I still have some pieces left over for one more card after this with purple and then I colored in a bunch more using my Copic's last night in a different color scheme. I cannot tell you how I ADORE this set of stamps. All my friends LOVE wine and I am trying to make more "adult" cards rather then cutesy. (Thought I love all my cutesy stamps too!!!)

I used the Global Design Challenge #068 as my inspiration for this card.

You are probably thinking where, right? Well, I used the same basic layout as the inspiration card, as well as polka dot paper and instead of ribbon, I used wrapped twine in the place where the ribbon would go as it matched the images better then ribbon would.

The images were colored in with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. I added some Spectrum Clear Sparkle over the top and also coated some of the images with Glossy Accents too.

The polka dot paper is Reminisce "Basic Dot" and has been in my stash for YEARS. I told you I was a hoarder!!! No what I didn't add this time? Sequins!! I decided to leave them off this card for a change.

That is all from me today!! Have a fabulous day!!

Freshly Made Sketches #276 and a PaperTrey Ink Anniversary Card Posted Too Late

Hello everyone!! It is Sunday night and I am posting a couple of cards I created.

The sound of crickets were here on my blog last week as I was not feeling the creativity bug. Then on Thursday night I came down with hives and was a little sick to my stomach. Think I had an allergic reaction to something I ate-but still trying to figure it out!! Yesterday Charlotte and I went shopping with my niece who had come down on Friday. She took Char to a Panic at the Disco concert. Both had a BLAST.

I was able to play a little last night, though. My first card I created using Freshly Made Sketches #276 my inspiration.

My card is not as clean as the sketch but it has the elements.

I combined Simons Stays Stamp! images from "Time for Wine" with a sentiment from Paper Smooches "Free Spirit" stamp set. Las time I used this set, I made my wine purple, but today I played with it being a "white" wine. The color is not perfect but close to what I wanted!!

The background was created by watercoloring Ranger "Twisted Citron" and "Mowed Lawn" Distress ink onto watercolor paper and then pairing it with a little Kraft card stock.

Love how it all came together and know I could send this to several of my friends.

My next card I actually created last week for the PTI 10th Anniversary Challenge but never got around to photographing it. It was also EXTREMELY simple. I rarely enter PTI Challenges as I can never make my cards look as good as so many other contributors!!

I was inspired by the "2015 Birthday Tags" stamp set and my favorite DT member, Dawn McVey. While I do not have that set, I do have the "2012 Birthday Tags" (The Vault) set and used that instead.

I stamped the green and white patterned paper using "Ombre Builders" and used "Edgers #3" die to die cut the scalloped edge. I thought the colors were perfect for a more masculine card.

Of course I am a day late and a dollar short for entering this but that is okay. Any card made is a good thing!!

I am also entering this into Simon Says Stamp! Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes."

I thank you for stopping by today. Have a great night!!

Nora

Another Wine Card for Mojo Monday #488

Happy Tuesday!! We have had a snow day today due to a Nor'easter but all is good. It has warmed up to 41 degrees and is now raining. Supposed to freeze again tonight, though, so here is hoping we don't lose power due to ice!!

Since I am home bound, I have been hanging out in my pj's doing laundry and did make a card for the Mojo Monday #488 Sketch Challenge. I used the pile that is on my desk that I put in yesterday's post.

Once again, I used Simon Says Stamp's "Time for Wine" stamp and die set for my card.

My inspiration was the sketch below, which I flipped 180 degrees.

I adored this sketch because it was very simple. I also liked it because it let me layer my stamped and die cut images.

All the images were colored in with Copic markers. I used Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Marker over the Copics and then added Glossy Accents over that.

I used a piece of gold and white polka dot paper for the strip that was in the sketch.

I really like how this came out.

I thank you for stopping by today. Stay safe and warm all my friends that live in the Northeast!!

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone had a happy, safe New Years eve. We just spent it watching a movie with Charlotte and I was in bed by 10:30. I am trying to get back into my work habits because over vacation I have gone to bed rather late and slept later then I usually do. Going back to work tomorrow will be interesting!!

Today I thought I would share some of my projects I did for the holidays. Yes, they are over but I wasn't organized enough to post them. I am going to try to do a Christmas Inspiration piece once a month, from tags to ornaments or gifts to get you inspired to create all year. Wouldn't it be nice to be organized for next year's holiday ahead of time?

My first projects are various cards I created. The one below was the EASIEST I have created in a long time. I used a piece of patterned paper over an ivory card stock base. I then layered fun embellishments from Pink Paislee over both. This is a card I did in about 15 minutes-a record for me!!

Supplies: Paper-Basic Grey Aspen Frost Woolen Mittens, Ivory Card Stock; Pink Paislee Parcel Tags, Pink Paislee Ephemera Pack, Pop Dots, Paper Trey Ink Stamp, Vintage Photo Ink; twine

My next card looks just as easy but it took a little more time. That funky star is a die cut that I glittered and then attached over all the layers. I love this card. The star really makes it!!

Supplies: Paper-green, red, ivory, and kraft card stock, Lily Bee Design Christmas Cheer patterned paper; Pink Paislee Parcel Tags; Ink-Red and Vintage Photo Ink; Tim Holtz Large 3-D Die; Red Rhinestones; Technique Tuesday "Be Jolly" stamps; Diamond Stickles

The next one is not my favorite but I am including it because not everything will turn out how you want, will it? The wreath is part of the Pink Paislee Parcel tags pack. I just doctored it up with glitter glue.

Supplies: Paper-Basic Grey Aspen Frost, red and ivory card stock, Pink Paislee Parcel Tags; Pop Dots; Stickles-Diamond and Turquoise; red buttons; ribbon

The next card is created by layering paper and then a stamped embellishment over a doily is the focal point. This stamp isn't meant to be a Christmas stamp but I used it on many cards this year.

Supplies: Paper-Lily Bee Design "Christmas Cheer" 6" by 6" paper pad, Red Card stock, Bazzill Basics-"Sheet Music"; Ink-Red, green and Vintage Photo Ink; Stamps-My Mind's Eye "Cutie Pie" Technique Tuesday "Be Jolly" stamps; Martha Stewart Doily.

The next two photos are a project that I saw on Pinterest and have wanted to try for over a year. I am not a wine drinker so I had to enlist some people to help me collect corks. I still need more so everyone I know, save them for me. It would be greatly appreciated!!

I used the Pinterest pin only as a jumping off point and made them my own as aI always do. I NEVER copy anything exactly. Charlotte made the deer on the right and I created the deer on the left. My reindeer is an ornament. Charlotte made fun of it because she thought it looked like it had too much to drink!!

Here is a side view of my deer with the little hook for where the hanger would go. I want to make more of these over the year because I have a ton of friends that I could see gifting one of these to. However, I have to figure out a better way to cut the corks. My husband was on a business trip and Charlotte was afraid I would cut my finger off. She had all the first aid supplies and a phone ready in case she had to call for help!!

This next photo is just a few chocolates wrapped with tulle. I stamped a tag, added a bow and a bauble and it is an instant gift. Easy peasy!!

I took A LOT of time with this ornament. I die cut the star, stamped it, glued trim around it, glittered it and added embellishments. It came out fantastic and this is another project I want to create more of for gifts next year. The fun thing about this was I dug through my box of Christmas findings I buy every year on clearance to decorate the front.

Supplies: Paper-white card stock; Tim Holtz 3D Star Die, Hero Arts Stamp, Stickles Diamond Glitter Glue, White Ribbon and trim; Christmas findings.

One of the things I try to do when I give a gift is to make my own tags. Often my wrapping is better then the gift inside!!

I created this tag for my niece. I adore this little gingerbread man! Instead of glitter glue I experimented using a glitter paint. It went on nicely however it made the paper curl a bit. I then layered the gingerbread man over a stamped tag.

Supplies: Paper-kraft and white cardstock, scraps of patterned paper; Ink-red and Vintage Photo Ink; glitter paint; pop dots; red Washi Tape; Sizzix Gingerbread Die and Silhouette Tag; Technique Tuesday "Be Jolly" Stamp;

The next three photos are of a canning jar that I filled with truffles for a co-worker. I covered the top with patterned paper and ribbon to hide the top of the jar.

I then attached a tag I die cut and stamped over a tiny kraft bag. Inside the bag I placed a gift certificate. This woman does so much for the department that I thought she deserved more then the candy!!

I even decorated the inside of the tag. Sometimes it is the little "extras" that make the gift!!

Supplies: Paper-Lily Bee Design-Christmas Cheer; White card stock, Blue card stock, Ink-red and Vintage Photo Ink; Die Cuts: Paper Trey Ink and Silhouette Cameo; red ribbon; canning jar; Paper Trey Ink 2010 Holiday Tag Stamps

My last addition to this post are of a tag and star I created to top another co-workers gift. I love these little added touches. Presentation goes a long way!! Again, all I used was a die cut machine for the star and tag. I topped them off with bells and some curling ribbon. I LOVE how this came out!!

Supplies: White card stock; blue ink; Simple Stories grey polka dot paper; diamond glitter glue, Die Cuts-Tim Holtz Large 3D Star, Silhouette machine; Stamps-Paper Trey Ink and My Minds Eye.

I hope this inspires you to make some of your own tags and gifts for next year. Happy New Year!!
