Happy Monday with a Some Cards

Hello Crafty Friends!!!

I had today off for Martin Luther King Day. I was not feeling all that well so I decided to hang out at home. I did go to the MD to get contacts-a first for this old lady!! I have powerful readers and was sick of wearing glasses all the time so decided to try contacts. Let me ask you-how do you who use them put these in and take them out all the time? It took a while!! I love that I can see things on my phone now without wearing glasses. It will take time to get used to, though.

I am popping in with some cards I created this afternoon. I used Spellbinders Die of the Month for July for all of my cards. I had die cut all the dies and pieced them together this past fall but never used the images.

My first card I created using FOUR challenges as inspirations.

I used this weeks Atlantic Heart Sketch #665 for my card layout. I used the colors from the Card Concept #223, with the addition of some green-not sure that is allowed but some of their DT used green on their cards too. I am also entering this in the Jingle Belle's Challenge-Something old-which is the gingham pattern paper from MFT, and something new to me, the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Typewriter Sentiments. I am also entering it into Make it Monday #269-use pattern paper.

I actually had to dig through my stash for this card. The gingham paper was among the many 6 by 6 paper pads I have. The strip of "wood" pattern paper was in my scraps.

The banner die is the Stitched Party Banners from Lawn Fawn. Don't know if it is even available anymore but it took me awhile to find it!!

I absolutely LOVE everything about how this card turned out!!!

My second card I entering into two challenges.

I used the Color Hues Challenge #125-Blue and White for my colors. I also used the Paper Players CAS #769-Signs of Winter, as inspiration for this card.

The layout of my card was inspired by one of the DT members that used this set in July. I liked the way the mittens were in the corner.

The background is the Filagree Snowflakes from Simon Says Stamp and the sentiment is from their Holiday Typewriter set.

My last card I created just to use the remaining die cuts up. I am entering this into Just Add Ink Challenge #777-something seasonal and Inkspirational Challenge #359-Shades of Blue. I have not done this many challenges in a long time!!

This one is really simple. I love the gingham paper on the "sweater sleeves!"

I used a Distress Tool to distress the edges of the embossed paper. The sentiment is from my stash and I did not write down on the bag who made it. That is something I am going to be better at this year!!

Woooo!! This post was longer than I thought it would be!!! I apologize for that!!! I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a GREAT night!!

Freshly Made Sketches #714

 Hey Friends!!

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving!! I ate way too much and did a ton of cleaning over the long weekend. I did get to craft a bit and am posting one of my cards before it is too late to enter it!!!

I created this card for this week's Freshly Made Sketches #714. I try to do this each week but sometimes forget to post them in time. Below is the sketch that inspired my card.

I used a bunch of things from my stash for my card. The background paper is from a My Mind's Eye paper pad-Merry Little Christmas-that I have had FOR YEARS.

The poinsettia was die cut using a die from Waffle Flower Crafts. I have had this die in my stash and never pulled it out. I decided it was time to use it!!! I added some glue and Snowflake Distress Glitter to give it some BLING.

The sentiment is from Concord & 9th and the white panel behind the sentiment was die cut using a label die from Pinkfresh Studio. I would link the supplies but I am trying to get this post up because I have to do an errand before 8:00 p.m. and need to go.

That is all from me today. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS night!!

A NEW Challenge-Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #625

Hello Friends!!!

Today I am popping in with a card for the NEW round of the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!!! Challenge #625 is a COLOR challenge-PASTEL COLORS. I am not going to lie, this was a tough one form me. I rarely use pastel colors and do not have too many of them.

Below is the Challenge Badge for Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #625:

I dug out my Spellbinders Fresh Picked Anemones dies that I have had in my stash but never used. I die cut the flower from pastel yellow and orange scraps and the leaves from a pastel yellow/green scrap of cardstock.

I adhered the flowers to an A2, kraft card front that I covered with a panel that I had embossed with the Honey Bee Linen Embossing folder. I could have used a pastel but thought the kraft looked better with the lighter colors. The struggle for me was real!!

I then used foam adhesive to adhere a sentiment from Simon Says Stamps CZ Designs Good Vibes stamp/die set. My last step was to adhere pastel yellow gems across the card front.

Christmas in July

 Hello Crafty Friends!!!

I am just popping in with a card that I created for a few challenges. It is all about Christmas in July!!!

I started off my card by embossing a white cardstock panel with the Holly and Foliage embossing folder by Spellbinders.

I used pieces of the rainbow from the Pinkfresh Studio's Elevated Rainbows die for the red pieces on my card. I accented it with a poinsettia die cut from the Spellbinders Christmas Wreath Add On set.

The joy is from a limited addition stamp/die set from Concord & 9th. The gems are Ruby Glitter Drops from Pinkfresh Studio.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card: Jingle Belles-Poinsettia Perfection, CAS on Friday-Christmas in July, Color Hues Challenge-Red and White, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Emboss It.

That is all from me. I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!

There is Still Time to Play at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge for Challenge #607

 Hello Friends!!

Today I am popping in with a card to remind you that there is still time to play with this round of the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!!! Challenge #607 is a COLOR challenge.. Create a project using the colors TOFFEE, YELLOW and RED.

I dug out my Tim Holtz Leaf Fragment Dies to create my card. I used the colors from the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #607 Inspiration Badge but added some green to my leaves.

Source

I started off by doing some Ink Smooshing combined with some Distress Sprays to create the paper for my leaves. When the paper was dry, I die cut the three leaf fragments.

I distressed the edges of the leaves and layered them over a dry embossed wood texture panel that I also distressed. I love how those edges look on the dry embossing!!

I layered a sentiment from The Ton that was in my stash over the leaves and the card was complete. I LOVE how it came out. I am liking distressing the edges of my paper right now. It makes it so fun to create.

Playing Cards With Friends

 Hey Friends!!!

Today I am popping in with some cards that I created with a technique that I tried while playing cards with my friend Michele Ferguson from the I Card Everyone Blog. We both saw a reel on the  Altenew Instagram by Michelle Short where you emboss on black cardstock, shade the embossed image in blue and then give it some shine with some gold embossing powder. We decided to try it.

Instead of a tag like Michelle Short created, I embossed a whole piece of black cardstock with the Scenic Poinsettia 3D Embossing Folder by Spellbinders. I then shaded in the poinsettias with Stormy Sky Distress Oxide

I brushed on some Versamark Ink and added some Silver embossing ink by Ranger Ink.

I then added it to a card base and used a Birch Press Design sentiment die covered in silver embossing powder. Some blue pearls were added for a finishing touch.

My next card I decided to use an embossing folder by the Stamp Market on a forest green cardstock. I used two green oxide inks to shade the eucalyptus-Evergreen Bough and Lucky Clover.

I used some gold embossing powder on this card.

The sentiment is a die from Simon Says Stamp and the sentiment strip is stamped with a sentiment from The Stamp Market.

The gold sequins were added last.

For my last card, I went bold. Not my favorite, if I am honest, but I decided I would show it anyway.

I used an embossing folder by Altenew this time. I shaded it in with Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink.

I brushed on Versamark ink and covered it with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder.

I added a sentiment from Memory Box and some gold pearls.

All in all, I had fun using this technique. I think it is more dramatic if I could have partially embossed my images but the folders were too big for me to arrange the paper the way I wanted. I am not sure I would do this technique again but it was fun to try.

That is all for me today. It is now it is time for you to hop on over to Michele Ferguson's Blog to see her completed cards.

I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!
