Birthday Wishes

 Happy Friday everyone!!

I am popping in today with a card I created for some challenges. I have had some time now that I am off and have been having a TON of fun making cards for challenges!!

I made this cards using this weeks Global Design Projects Challenge #296. I am also entering these cards into the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge WWC318: Kath's All About Occasions and Seize the Birthday #216-no topping.

I had a ton of fun using the CAS-Fridays Flowery Background stamp to start off my cards. I then cut the panel into two different rectangles so I could make two cards. I have been trying to do more of this!!!

On my first panel, I used a PTI die, black cardstock and heat embossed my sentiment that I stamped using WPlus9 the That is All stamp set. This was inspired by the photo from the Global Design Project.

I added some rainbow striped cardstock from Honeybee Stamps Over the Rainbow paper pad and a vellum butterfly that I die cut using Altenew Mix and Match Mariposa Butterfly die set. I used Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade and Carved Pumpkin to shade the vellum butterfly.

For my second card, I used most of the same products as the first but added a die cut flower that was cut using the My Favorite Things Stitched Flower Die-namics, a stem from the MFT Stitched Blooms Die-namics and some red twine.

I added some yellow enamel dots as accents. I LOVE how these cards came out and they were so easy to make!! I also was able to use some supplies that I had forever but have not used yet. I have been a HUGE collector and I am trying not to buy this summer. HOWEVER, last week was a bad week and I ordered a TON of things I do not need!!!

Well, that is all from me today. I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a GREAT night!

Happy Retirement and an Adventure

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are all having a great day. It has been extra hot for a May day today. It is presently overcast and I hope it will rain. We need it so badly!!

Today I am popping in to share a few photos. I created two retirement cards.

I created these using this weeks Freshly Made Sketches #486 as inspiration. However I flipped it and took a little liberty.

I used the Rolling Clouds Die by Taylored Expressions for the top BUT it blended in too much on my cards because I stenciled over it and then added it to a stenciled background.

On this card, I added a black strip at the bottom where I heat embossed a sentiment from Paper Trey Ink.

The little scooter from the Enjoy the Ride is from Spellbinders. I added some balloons behind the back of the scooter from My Favorite Things.

I cut these balloons out and added some black jute as the ties.

On my second card, I had to move the sentiment to cover mistake. A glob of glue from my finger got on the cloud die cut. I could not get it off with any of the methods I know of so I had to adhere the sentiment over the top and add a black strip at the bottom to ground the scooter.

I colored in the balloons with light pink Copic's instead of dark pink.

I am sending these out to some of the members of my union. I am the secretary and in charge of the correspondence.

On another note, I went on a little adventure with a friend yesterday. I rarely have time to do things like this so it was so fun. We went to an open house at an artist community. I did not take photos, though I wish I did. We also went to an antique warehouse. I did take some fun photos there. I love going in to these places to browse. It always reminds me of my childhood.

Did you remember pantyhose coming in this packaging? My mother used to buy these and then would give the eggs to us to play with.

What about colorful Fiestaware? I have newer stuff but I like some of the colors of these. The light green and the fun pink are dishes I would love to have.

These pins remind me of my mother. I always ache when I see pins like this. My mother had a bunch of these and I don't remember where they went. I wish I had them now because I would wear them.

Last but not least, there were a ton of vintage pocket books. Someone must have been selling their collection. They were A LOT of money!!! I just think they are exquisite.

Well, that is all from me today. I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by. I hope you have a great week!!!

Using Scraps on Baby Cards for Some Card Challenges

Happy Tuesday!! I am just popping in at the last minute to post some baby cards I created. I was inspired by this weeks badge from the Inspired By #166 challenge for the colors of my cards and the theme.

My first card is a top folding card. I used Lawn Fawn "Little Bundle" stamps and matching dies for the little baby clothes.

The Inspired By photo below is my inspiration:

I die cut my patchwork squares from paper scraps using the MFT Pierced Squares (retired). I knew I had to use the color scheme from the photo because it used ORANGE!!!

My die cut sentiment is from PTI-Wonderful Words Baby.

I am going to enter this into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Two or More Pattern Papers as well.

My second card is similar to my first. However, I loosely based it on the Inspired By Sketch

Here is the Inspired By sketch:

As you can see, my patchwork is not laid out like the sketch and I did not use a circle under my sentiment. Instead I made an imaginary circle sentiment block by surrounding the die cut with the little baby items. Can you see it?

I have not made baby cards in AGES and these were SO FUN to create. It was a fabulous way to use up some of my paper scraps too!!!

In other news, I am STILL moving my craft room. I cannot tell you how much stuff I still have and how much I have gotten rid of!!! I do need to get my new room in order, though, which means cleaning off shelves from my old room to haul the furniture upstairs to put all the organized crap that I have in containers all over my floor!

Part of my cleaning this weekend was getting a huge amount of scrapbook pages in actual albums. It has made miss scrapbooking and I might have to take it up again.

Well, I want to get this posted. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a GREAT night!

Happy Sunday and a Few Challenges

Hello everyone!! I hope everyone is doing well. I have been doing a lot of creating, as well as organizing lately in an attempt to calm my mind. Sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't. I appreciate everything I have, though and am grateful for all the healthcare workers and critical people that are working at their jobs throughout all this. Such strange times.

For my first card today, I created a birthday card for a co-workers daughter. Her little girl is turning 10 and she asked for people to send her cards. Of course I jumped on the bandwagon and created the card below using Simon Says Stamps "Party Like a Panda" stamp and die set.

I chose to use the stamps that make up my sentiment from the SSS set. The cupcake is a new die cut I bought from Honey Bee Stamps. It is called "The Cupcake Builder" and I had a lot of fun coloring the pieces in with Copic Markers.

I also colored in the balloons with Copic Markers, then used a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen to give them some sparkle and topped it all off with some Glossy Accents.

The hearts on the front were left over from a previous project and I had to add them on for some accent. I used Ranger Shaded Lilac Distress ink and a stencil to create some soft polka dots on the background.

I even decorated the inside of the card as well. It is for a little girl so I had to make it festive!! I added a sentiment from PaperTrey Ink and some balloons from the SSS Panda stamp set.

I am entering this into the following Challenges:

Another thing I am trying to do is to challenge myself to not only use stamps I have not touched but also to create more than one card from a stamp set. So for my second card, I again used the Simon Says Stamp "Party Like a Panda" set to create a belated birthday card.

The paper is from PaperTrey Ink, the dies are from My Favorite Things.

I am notoriously the WORST at sending birthday cards so all the cards I should make for birthdays are belated!!! I colored in the Panda with Copic Markers and used a stamp from Lawn Fawn for the speech bubble.

This card I am entering into a couple of challenges as well.

(because I used a Panda! I hope this counts!!)

Well that is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. I hope these cards make you smile!!

Have a GREAT night!!

EDIT: I never edit posts but Darnell told me I should enter this into the NBUS Challenge Blog and by darn, I am going to. If you have NEVER heard of this, hop on over because it is AWESOME!!!

A Birthday Card for Freshly Made Sketches and The Flower Challenge

Happy Sunday everyone!! Today was a gorgeous day outside and it made me happy to be alive!!!

My husband will be working from home starting tomorrow and this week we have been told that the paraprofessionals will be contacting kids to help with their school work. I have helped a bit with math, like doing a problem or getting resources to help the kids learn for that math class but I am a bit worried about the kids staying motivated during this time.

Today I a posting a card that I made for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches #427.

Below is the sketch that inspired this card:

I did move the sentiment and hope that is okay but the rest I kept kind of true to the sketch.

I used My Favorite Things A La Modes Martinis on Me stamp and die set for this card. I colored in the girl with Copic markers and added some Sparkle with Stickles

I used Candy Apple Distress Ink to shade in the back and the red strip. The red strip I made a bit darker so it wouldn't blend into the background.

I colored in a purple girl too but have yet to make a card with it!!

I created another card for this month's Flower Challenge #42, Anything Goes.

I combined a die from Spellbinders and a flower from My Favorite Things that I had colored in using Copic Markers. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions.

This was a rather simple card to make but I like how it came out.

In other news, one thing I have been doing is cooking. I made Chicken Chili and cornbread the other night for dinner at my daughter's request.

I didn't have any cornmeal and actually had to go to the grocery store to buy it. I wound up buying polenta cornmeal to use but it worked. The cornbread was actually better because of it!!

Well, that is all from me today. Keep your chin up and hope for the best!!
